Sunday, February 05, 2006 Lest we forget Flashback: 15 September 2004: A demonstration against the fox hunting Bill, outside Parliament: Instantly, the police responded with a flail of truncheons. For a moment, they resembled beaters driving birds towards guns. They were scenes more associated with the clash of police and shaven-headed football hooligans or dreadlocked anti-capitalist demonstrators rather than men in flat caps and women in quilted waistcoats. In a flurry of violence, people were hurt by the impact of truncheons and by the crush of people pushing forward to join the pre-planned sitdown. Archie Norman, the Conservative MP, who...

February 4, 2006 -- Why did the Bush administration need to insert itself into the increasingly violent worldwide protests by Muslims upset by the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed? And, having chosen to issue an opinion, why did the administration take a position that is, frankly, shameful and wholly antithetical to the basic freedoms that Americans hold dear? Even as European and Asian leaders appealed for calm and understanding in the wake of escalating violence, the State Department yesterday came out foursquare in support of the demonstrators — and condemned the "offensive" cartoons. "These cartoons are indeed offensive...

My first vanity post and hope it's not an imposition. I'd really appreciate the suggestions from fellow freepers and I suspect others may benefit from this discussion. I'm a doctor about to hire an associate for my practice. A few years ago I realized I was politically conservative which explained why very often a common thread among people I didn't respect was their liberal politcs. Their values were totally opposite mine. I've had some bad employees in the past - turned out they were all liberals (not that being conservative on its own makes one a good employee, to be...

I've read many interesting threads here on the growing problem of Islamists taking over Holland, Sweden, etc. and its scary stuff. At the same time, we praise and tear-up at the sight of brave Iraqi moslem voters and see The Hug as a powerful symbol to our joint cause. We must begin to jibe this in our minds: we are without a doubt seeing a good team and bad team emerge from within the muslim world. So, if/when "Iraqization" develops and spreads in the region, I belive Europe will benefit - without lifting a finger of course, or thanking us....

This is not a lie and a continuing saga... A tenant in my building is a liberal couple in their 40's that runs a yoga studio. They are unmarried and living together They met a homeless woman on the street a few weeks ago and, one thing leading to another, permitted her to stay over at their apartment. The woman insited on giving them a little bit of what cash she had. Fast forward to now. The woman has since taken over the place and refuses to leave, saying she has nowhere to go. She has become hostile, accusing them...

Interesting point brought up by Rush yesterday. MoveOn.org, in thier email to members says, "In the last year, grass roots contributors like us gave more than $300 million to the Kerry campaign and the DNC." Blatant and admitted breaking of 527 rules!!! Full Transcript from Rush: MoveOn.org, Kooks Dissent in the Democrat Ranks December 10, 2004 BEGIN TRANSCRIPT Now, they're continuing to wander aimlessly out there in the desert. Have you heard-- (Laughing) Anytime, ladies and gentlemen, there is the slightest rift in the Republican Party, it's a banner headline at the New York Times. It's a banner headline in...

Looking at the county map, if you trace the Mississippi river it seems to skew blue. Most noticable to me is that the Mississippi shores in AR, LA, MS,IA and WI are heavily blue but without major urban centers, unless my geography is wrong. What's in the river that attracts democrats? Any of you folks in those states care to discuss?

Dan thinks it looks like Bush has the advantage. Still contorting himself to find a path to Kerry victory. He said key to Bush votes as been "Moral Values". The quotes were pronounced --> "Quote Moral Values". He said CBS wants to be "Accuracy Central"

I paraphrase; "At 40, was lost in his life...drinking problem..." continues along those lines.

That didn't take long. Saying "Who will be the Reagan of the Democrat party to lead the movement", etc. Said "Everyone is bound to be talking about Hillary tomorrow" blah blah. Russert talking about who will be the soul of the dem party, etc. etc. I can't wait to take her down! The ABB vote is gone.

I totally appreciate the work they're doing and know they're blowing off steam (and deserve to), but I don't think this site or the photos make the best impression. BeerForSoldiers is linked from Stars & Stripes. http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=23671&archive=true

N.Y. Times' Terror Bias Edward I. Koch Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 I thought you would be interested in the following letter that I sent to The New York Times. September 21, 2004 Letter Editor The New York Times 229 West 43rd Street New York, NY 10036 To the Editor: In today’s article reporting the decapitation by terrorists in Iraq of American civilian Eugene Armstrong, The Times reporter wrote: “In the video of the beheading, an insurgent wearing a ski mask and surrounded by four men with assault rifles says the group is killing Mr. Armstrong because the American occupiers and...

Dan Rather's initial, furious street-side defense of an amateurish forgery — smug, huffy, self-righteous — brings to mind one of those bad movies about the Paris barricades, especially the grainy, black-and-white shots of powdered and wigged aristocrats on their way to the Guillotine, yelling out of their carriages at pitchfork-carrying peasants. Worse than being duped, worse than cobbling together a highly politicized hit-piece during a war and in the waning days of an election, worse than the shady nature of the "unimpeachable" sources and the likely sordid origins of the story, and worse even than the pathetic nature of CBS's...

It's 9:15pm. I live in Northhampton, Mass and am going outside now to plant a Bush/Cheney sign on the main steet divder - and will have a stakeout to watch it from the sidewalk. Place your bet as to what time it will be when somebody attacks the sign.
