Police yesterday were searching for multiple suspects who fled the scene of a fatal predawn shooting at the Holiday Inn Express in Dorchester. Police responded to the hotel, located just steps from Interstate 93 South, at 4:15 a.m. yesterday after receiving a call that someone had been shot. When they arrived, they found a man in his mid-20s in a fifth-floor room suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

North Korean race-goers who once risked three years hard labor for gambling are now able to bet on local horse races, as the one-party state searches for new ways to generate hard currency in the wake of tough international sanctions. In recent weeks, North Korea's access to foreign money has been significantly limited by a flurry of international sanctions over Pyongyang's missile and nuclear weapons programs.

Forget Fermat’s last theorem. The most vexing challenge in mathematics just might be the Monty Hall problem. Monty Hall — born Monte Halparin — presented nearly 5,000 episodes of Let’s Make a Deal, the US game show that inspired the puzzle. It is an onion of a conundrum; layer after layer, and guaranteed to make you cry. The puzzle is this: a contestant faces three doors. Behind one of them is a big prize such as a Cadillac. Each of the other two doors conceals a booby prize such as a goat.
  • Alex Morgan after Disney World incident: 'I can’t imagine what black people go through'

It may be the most magical place on Earth, but sports stars are not exempt from the law of the land at Disney World. Olympic medalist Alex Morgan discovered this the hard way earlier this month, when she and a few of her fellow professional soccer-playing friends were escorted from Epcot Center for being intoxicated and agressive on Oct. 1.

Page Six broke the news last Monday that Barack and Michelle Obama have been viewing an apartment at 10 Gracie Square, an exclusive, white-glove apartment building on the Upper East Side, situated at 84th Street and the FDR Drive. Sources now tell The Post that the couple are merely awaiting co-op board approval to purchase the unit — which is reportedly in the $8 million to $10 million range — in the 1931 enclave, whose residents have included designer Gloria Vanderbilt, exiled former first lady of China Madame Chiang Kai-shek, media mogul Steve Ross and socialite Brooke Astor.

After crashing her BMW into several cars at high speed, college student Cariann Hithon sat behind the wheel as a noisy crowd gathered around her. Onlookers filming on their smartphones yelled for her to get out of the damaged car. Somebody hollered: “She drunk as sh*t.” Uniformed Miami Beach police officers walked up. For a brief few seconds, it appeared nothing more than a routine, if harrowing, car accident on South Beach.

This week, the league will begin taking applications for the MLB Diversity Fellowship Program, an initiative that will provide people of color and women 18- to 24-month jobs in 20 front offices across the game. Combined with three more spots in a three-year program with the commissioner’s office, it is MLB’s strongest foray yet into widening its talent base by recruiting those who don’t typically consider baseball a viable career path. “It’s not necessarily that baseball needs someone who’s black or a woman,” Tirado said. “Baseball needs the absolute best talent possible to stay competitive and become a global entertainment...

WASHINGTON — On the first crisp fall day in Washington, thousands of anti-racism marchers proved that the capital’s summer of protests had not yet come to a close. Two separate rallies — the March for Racial Justice and the March for Black Women — converged in Lincoln Park, a picnic-and-birthday-party plot nestled in the heart of the gentrified eastern part of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. They marched in front of the Justice Department before descending on the National Mall to denounce institutionalized racism.

McCree was allegedly stabbed in the chest by 18-year-old classmate Abel Cedeno at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation in New York City on Wednesday.

“Puerto Rico, which is part of the United States, can turn into a humanitarian crisis,” Governor Rosselló said. “To avoid that, recognize that we Puerto Ricans are American citizens; when we speak of a catastrophe, everyone must be treated equally.” And Mr. Rosselló did not mince words about the potential impact on the mainland, where Puerto Ricans are expected to arrive in droves to escape the post-Maria hardships they will face on the island, including a shortage of already hard-to-find jobs. “If we want to prevent, for example, a mass exodus, we have to take action. Congress, take note: Take...

Baseball's popularity in Latin America has swelled the number of Spanish-speaking players to nearly 30 percent, MLB statistics show. That's a far cry from the post-World War II era when only 1 percent of players primarily spoke Spanish, according to the Society for American Baseball Research. By the late 1990s, the language barrier had become such a problem that MLB started offering classes in English as a second language in 1997, with the teams' covering the costs. Those classes are ongoing.

U.S. Airlines are vying for attention as the Boeing 747 leaves their fleets, just as they did when it entered their fleets in 1970. And the world’s aviation geeks are watching closely. United announced Monday that its final Boeing 747 flight will take place Nov. 7 with a celebratory recreation of its first United flight from San Francisco to Honolulu. Twenty-eight minutes later, at 3:47 p.m. Monday, Delta announced that it recently operated its final Boeing 747 Tokyo Narita-Honolulu flight (on Sept. 5), and that it had operated what were thought to be the final domestic 747 flights from Honolulu...

Former NFL player Albert Haynesworth accused his ex-girlfriend, former basketball player Brittany Jackson, of repeatedly physically abusing him and calling him racial slurs in a string of tweets today. TMZ reported that Haynesworth tweeted in response to Jackson’s accusations that he wasn’t paying child support for their son, although TMZ doesn’t say where those accusations came from—none of Jackson’s social media accounts made any reference to that as of Wednesday night, and TMZ doesn’t refer to any court records. Haynesworth labeled his tweets “The Ugly Truth about Brittany”:

It’s tarmac-to-table dining. The Canada Geese that plague the city’s airports may have a bullseye on their backs but they’ve been a bounty for food banks in the past four years, the Daily News has learned. The federal agency in charge of trapping the geese to prevent bird strikes on airplanes in New York has quietly donated thousands of the captured fowl to slaughterhouses for human consumption. Those processing plants give them to food pantries.

UPDATE, 1 a.m., Sept. 14: The protest group member who spoke to CSNNE said Antifa Boston's claim of responsibility for hanging the banner at Fenway Park is "ridiculous." "The five of us are in no way associated with Antifa nor did Antifa Boston have anything to do with the action," the group member wrote via text. As proof, they provided an image of the banner when it was being unfurled ahead of the demonstration, as a test.
