Puerto Rico, which is part of the United States, can turn into a humanitarian crisis, Governor Rosselló said. To avoid that, recognize that we Puerto Ricans are American citizens; when we speak of a catastrophe, everyone must be treated equally.
And Mr. Rosselló did not mince words about the potential impact on the mainland, where Puerto Ricans are expected to arrive in droves to escape the post-Maria hardships they will face on the island, including a shortage of already hard-to-find jobs.
If we want to prevent, for example, a mass exodus, we have to take action. Congress, take note: Take action, permit Puerto Rico to have the necessary resources, Mr. Rosselló said.

Sounds like a threat, doesn’t it.
Ah yes. Here comes the “Trump hates Puerto Rican” narrative.
come to the mainland, plenty of electricity, water, and jobs here.
Heck lower the price of land with a view of the ocean and I might even buy a place in Puerto Rico to help stimulate the economy :P
Sure does. Perhaps the Kennedys can build facilities on their compound to house the victims. Maybe di Blasio can take come in. Certainly the Clintons, though I am not sure “I’m with Hillary” wants to leave Bill unsupervised.
Many “surviving SHTF” lessons will come out of PR.
The island of Hispaniola is divided into 2 parts:
The Dominican Republican has basically been successful. It functions quite well.
Haiti, on the other hand, has a long history of mismanagement and failure.
Same island, two different stories.
It’s all about the government.
Puerto Rico was hit by a hurricane — not much you can do about that.
Puerto has enormous debt and a weak economy and a broken society?
Fix your damn government. It’s not my problem.
Puerto Rico can either by the Dominican Republic or they can be Haiti.
It’s a Time for Choosing.
Socialism, corruption and massive debt have met their black swan.
Lost track with all their on and off becoming a USA 51st state. Are Puerto Ricans actually US citizens? The last I knew, they are a territory of the US. Do they have the same rights as a US citizen? That said, they need our help - without implied threats.
Wargame this prepper scenario:
No electricity.
No gasoline or other fuels.
No working water or other plumbing systems.
No law andn order.
Lack of food and above mentioned water.
and now...
Puerto Ricans all over the place.
Yes, it does sound like a threat.
Notice they’re only Americans when they want $$$$$.
Maybe they can help just like they did in Haiti by ripping off millions of dollars in aid intended for the hurricane victims.
Why is nobody mentioning this when Hillary whines that Trump is not supporting Puerto Rico?
Again, another projection by Hillary of what she is really like herself.
If this is accurate (someone can correct if this is cited wrong):
All persons born in Puerto Rico on or after April 11, 1899, and prior to January 13, 1941, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, residing on January 13, 1941, in Puerto Rico or other territory over which the United States exercises rights of sovereignty and not citizens of the United States under any other Act, are declared to be citizens of the United States as of January 13, 1941. All persons born in Puerto Rico on or after January 13, 1941, and subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, are citizens of the United States at birth.
Sounds like a knee jerk reaction to WW2
Gee all those Spanish speaking American citizens in need of jobs...
Gee that means all those Spanish speaking illegal aliens aren’t needed after all...
They were failing before the hurricanes.
