Liberals are touting a new study linking climate change and inflation, but economists say that the real causes are more likely to be massive government interventions in the economy purporting to save the climate. Climate activists, including Climate Power — which is spending $80 million to support President Joe Biden in 2024 — have touted the study’s findings, while outlets including The Associated Press, ABC News, Axios, The Los Angeles Times and The Hill have also pushed the study since its release. Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee also promoted the study on X, formerly Twitter, stating thats its findings...

I've been musing re home EV charging. I have no expertise beyond common sense but there will surely be practical considerations involved...Let's say we have a surburban family with mom, pop & children all driving EVs. How many can be charged at once? I am thinking a multi-EV charging system and the necessary electrical capacity to safely power it would both need to be heavy-duty and therefore quite expensive. ka-ching and then you get to pay the electric bill!If this home only has a minimum power charging system requiring hours to charge a single vehicle, there would be EVs on...

Do you know what DEF fluid is? It's Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Every Diesel truck that has been made since 2010 is required to use it. It's a product made of 67% Urea fertilizer and 33% distilled water. Every diesel truck you see driving down the road today has to have this product to drive. The engines won't start without it. There are regulators inside the engine that mix DEF with the Diesel to reduce Diesel emissions. That's the purpose of DEF. Right now, Russia is the largest exporter of Urea by a wide margin. Qatar is second. Egypt and China...

There were about half a dozen prisoner of war camps in Tennessee during World War II — the best known of which was Camp Crossville, in Cumberland County. We know a lot more about Camp Crossville than the others because of Gerhard Hennes. Hennes was a German officer captured in North Africa in May 1943. Five months later, he entered the gates of Camp Crossville, where he was interred for two years. After World War II, Hennes would become an American citizen, and in 2004 he published The Barbed Wire: POW in the USA. In it he gives a detailed...

Maybe it's John Bolton clutching a gun. Maybe it's Mike Pompeo setting down his binoculars to stare into the distance. Maybe it's the gators. But a newly unveiled painting meant to depict President Trump and his team navigating the Washington "swamp" has something for everyone. Utah-based artist Jon McNaughton touched off a social media frenzy as he shared his painting, “Crossing the Swamp,” Tuesday on Twitter. The painting is a riff on the classic “Washington Crossing the Delaware,” only it replaces George Washington's crew with members of the Trump administration.

[snip] For Pete’s sake get a grip. Three days of inclement weather and the country grinds to a halt. Before I was born in 1965 there were two notable winters with severe weather, 1947 and 1962 – 1963. Although the country did eventually succumb to the harsh winter conditions in 1947 and well as the winter of 1962 -63 it has to be noted that they succumbed in weeks not a matter of days. My own personal view on the matter, and I could be wrong, is that years ago people weren’t as affluent as they are now. Personal transport...

Short version: The #OppoMedia runs with a story they know is wholely or mostly #FakeNews. They push it as hard as they can to get their version sent around the world as fast as possible. After the #FakeNews is shown to be bogus they matter-of-factly say "We're so sorry" about the error but they know the damage has been done and the lie has been seen by as many people as possible. A lie that many will believe.

Less than a week after exiting its larval, experimental phase and becoming a standalone company under the Alphabet corporate umbrella, Google’s self-driving car outfit is showing off its first new car. The newly created Waymo is adding 100 Chrysler Pacifica minivans, built for autonomy, to its test fleet. Under a partnership established six months ago, engineers from Waymo and Fiat Chrysler collaborated in Michigan to build these hybrid-powered vans with the right tools for the job incorporated from the start, rather than retrofitting them after they came off the assembly line. Those include the computers that run its software algorithms...

The Hawkeyes is the name of the sports team of Iowa...

If you recall, the popular storyline since late last year has been that the U.S. economy is moderately improving while the world’s other major economies – Japan, China, and Europe – are rolling over. The U.S. economy would power through. Moreover, stock prices had achieved a permanently high plateau.

Tuesday’s Republican debate will be focusing on economic issues, including how to restore prosperity to this country for all Americans, how to strengthen our middle class and create more good-paying jobs. On Friday, we found out that the economy added 271,000 jobs in October with the unemployment rate falling to 5%. But those numbers don't reflect reality for millions of Americans still struggling to find a job. The number of Americans who are currently working or actively looking for work is at 62.4%, the lowest level since 1977. Median household income has actually fallen since President Obama took office in...

While the decision to delay was nearly unanimous – there was one dissenter – nearly the same amount of FOMC members said they also believe rates will move higher before the end of the year. That sentiment may have changed given the release of Friday’s much-worse-than-expected jobs report, but the minutes should provide some additional insight into why the Fed held off on a rate hike and when they might actually pull the trigger. The minutes will be released Thursday at 2 p.m. Also scheduled for release next week are: the ISM Non-manufacturing index on Monday; a report on international...
