Ever read the Dune novels? Ten thousand years before the main story starts, humanity had enslaved itself to computers, AI and other technology.
It takes a religious crusade to free humanity from "thinking machines". That's why despite Dune being thirty thousand years or so in the future there are NO computers or robots. They're are an abomination against society.
I honestly believe there will be backlash against AI at some point in our future. Maybe not tomorrow or ten years from now but when it begins to encompass EVERYTHING there will be some who rise up religiously against it.
The more I work with AI the more I believe this.
There is some good that comes out of abolishing AI in the Dune books. Without relying on computers as a crutch it forces human minds to develop and grow to take their place. So it is that mentats (human "computers"), the Guild navigators etc come about.
Maybe pulling back on AI in real life will have a similar effect on us.
Well, there are limits. I tried to get it to generate a picture of Joe Biden assimilated by the Borg, but it won't let you use images of a major political figure like that.
I also tried to have it generate a picture of Jed Clampett from The Beverly Hillbillies fighting a giant deranged bunny rabbit. The person it created looked nothing like Uncle Jed. I asked it to produce a picture of a hillbilly fighting the giant rabbit. It refused to create the image at all. THEN I asked ChatGPT to just give me a picture of a hillbilly... and it REFUSED! Said it was against its policies.
Go figure. But I'm sure there are ways around that. Just have to find them.
Ask Laz. He's much better than I am but there are ways to kindly suggest to the AI that it produce elements. I'm still just getting started with this.
I also just tried to produce Robert E. Lee fighting a xenomorph (for some reasons xenomorphs come out fine) but not too happy with that one. Going to tweak it a bit.
