Some Muslim and Arab American groups are threatening to withhold donations and votes towards President Joe Biden's 2024 reelection unless he takes immediate steps to secure a Gaza ceasefire. ... In an open letter entitled "2023 Ceasefire Ultimatum," Muslim leaders pledged to mobilize "Muslim, Arab, and allied voters" to "withhold endorsement, support, or votes for any candidate who endorses the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian people."

Just about a half-hour ago when I clicked on my shortcut to go to FreeRepublic.com, a page popped up indicating something along the lines that "QANON.com" was phishing for information on FreeRepublic, and, when I continued, the address at the top now indicates that it's "dangerous" and it has lined through the "https" part of the indentification. Is something actually going on or is this something that Google is just doing to show its displeasure with a conservative website? It's not the shortcut, because I tried coming in directly from the search engine, along with typing in "https://www.freerepublic.com" specifically. Any...

This is an update for all of you who were so kind to support my wife and I with your prayers. It's finally happened. After 25+ years .. more than half my life .. I'm again alone. My Cecilia died last night at about 6:30 from complications of her strokes, or possibly another stroke. She was sleeping in her recliner for most of the afternoon and, when I checked on her, she was breathing normally. I went in to use the bathroom and, when I came back out about five minutes later, in passing the sunroom, I noticed the...

I've never posted a vanity before ... heck, I've never really posted anything before, just added to ongoing threads. But here goes anyway ... I would ask all of my friends .. fellows and ladies .. from FreeRepublic to take some time to say a prayer for my wife. She was scheduled to have open-heart surgery -- an aortic valve replacement, a single-heart bypass, and repair of a congenital hole in her heart -- tomorrow. However, it never rains but it pours. This afternoon, at about 1500, she had multiple strokes, leaving two bleeding hemorrhages in her brain and, while...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Ted Turner is now officially a Floridian. Turner, the TV mogul who called his apartment atop the CNN Center in Atlanta his official home, now lists his legal residence as his 25,000-acre Avalon Plantation outside of Tallahassee, spokeswoman Maura Donlan said Thursday. "He spends twice as much time in Florida than he spends in Georgia," Donlan said. "His private home at Avalon is by far the family home. That is where he spends Christmas and New Year's and Thanksgiving and that's where he married Jane (Fonda)," she said. Turner's accountants had urged him for years to...

Who are these “Muslim allies” our State Department keeps talking about? Do we have any, in any fundamental, shared-values sense? Millions of Americans saw the Arab street explode with joy on September 11. Millions more read excerpts from the government-controlled press in allegedly friendly Arab countries, all spitting out the same blame-the-West conspiracy theories — we "had it coming," "the CIA did it," "the Jews did it." Most of us drew the obvious conclusion: that "Arab ally" is, at best, an oxymoron. And beyond the Arab world, what? Leaders of Pakistan and Indonesia seem less Janus-faced than those in Arab ...

Sid Meier on Defeating the Taliban http://www.inksyndicate.com/sid.htm As jets rain down bombs on Kabul for a fourth week, President George W. Bush of the Americans faces a two-fold challenge. In Washington, domestic leaders like Senator Joe Biden are pushing him to resolve the war swiftly, so the U.S. doesn't come across as a global bully, and can get on with the work of establishing a new regime. And citizens in places like Berkeley are grumbling over a bloodbath with no end in sight, possibly lasting until 2010. On the other hand, military advisors are insisting a long campaign is necessary, ...

TERRORIST-ENABLING NEIGHBORS New York may be Ground Zero for the World Trade Center (WTC) victims, but I live at Ground Zero for those who aid and abet the perpetrators. Southeastern Michigan is home to the largest concentration of Arabs outside the Middle East. It's insulting for peaceful, tolerant Americans to hear every news anchor and even President Bush call for them not to physically attack Arab-Americans. While we've heard trumped up complaints that they've been harassed over the past few days, it's the exact opposite. As an attorney who has successfully represented Arab-Americans in civil rights cases, it's my view ...

Environmentalism three ways: Pragmatists, primitivists, and watermelons By Thomas D. Cox web posted July 23, 2001 As an information technology worker by day (and a crime fighting super-hero by night, but that's another story), I find it convenient to organize some kinds of information into rows and columns, like a spreadsheet. It helps me get my mind around a complex topic. While examining one such topic, environmentalism, I discovered that environmentalists can be divided into three general categories (columns): Pragmatists, Primitivists, and Watermelons. The three types see two, exemplary environmental problems - global warming and ozone depletion (rows) -- and ...

Emboldened by their recent success in causing California's blackouts, environmentalists now want to extend California's energy crisis to the whole country. Greens have managed to prevent the construction of nuclear plants in America for almost two decades, and are now set to prevent also the construction of plants powered by coal, oil, and eventually gas. They intend to do this by passing legislation to cut carbon dioxide emissions nationwide. The new bills, introduced in the Senate on March 15th [S.556.IS], and in the House on March 27th [HR.1256.IH]and April 4th [HRES 117 IH], if approved, will cause power plants to ...
