A public records search of Clark County Court cases revealed that Paddock filed a lawsuit against the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and resort. Tecords show he was suing for “Negligence – Premises Liability.” According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Paddock sued the casino after he fell. Paddock claimed he “slipped and fell on an obstruction on the floor” and was injured because of the “dangerous condition.” According to the records, the lawsuit was filed in September 2012. It was dismissed with prejudice on October 3, 2014. The two sides reached a settlement paid through arbitration.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced Friday that 82-year-old Jackie Brister, of Bend, Texas, had been indicted by a Lampasas County grand jury on the counts related to a January incident. Brister faces additional charges on allegations that he captured and killed other protected non-game birds including several types of vultures.

At a rally in Alabama on Friday night, President Donald Trump railed against National Football League players who have protested the national anthem. He said players who disrespect the flag and refuse to stand for the national anthem should be ejected from the stadium and cut from the team. "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b**** off the field right now - he's fired!'" Trump said.

Donald Trump Jr., his wife Vanessa Trump, and Kellyanne Conway are dropping Secret Service protection, Fox News has confirmed. The move to get rid of round-the-clock protection came after Trump Jr. wished to have more privacy. Other family members of the president will remain under Secret Service protection. Secret Service protection is mandated by law to protect the U.S. president’s immediate family members, unless told otherwise.

TIME Magazine released its list of "TIME Firsts: Women who are changing the world," and among those honored in the project is Texas-native, Selena Gomez. The actress and singer was given a cover photo and was listed as the "first person to reach 100 million followers on Instagram." The 25 year old singer is actually one of 46 women featured in this week’s Time magazine for their feature called "Women Who are Changing the World."

Animal control officers in Palm Beach County say they are seeing animal abuse like they’ve never experienced before. Palm Beach County Animal Care reports animal control officers have rescued 49 dogs and two cats in the last 48 hours, according to WPTV. Local animal officials reported finding dozens of dogs chained to trees and parked cars as thousands of people flee the Sunshine State. High winds have now made it impossible for animal control officers to respond to these calls. County Director of Animal Care Diane Suave said she is encouraging anyone to shelter animals they see tethered outside.

Almost five months after an Austin police officer disappeared into the interior of Mexico in what was called an “elaborate ruse” to stage his death, Officer Coleman Martin has resigned from the department. The Austin Police Department said Martin’s resignation was effective immediately. The 29-year-old, who turns 30 next week, triggered a massive search operation when his truck was found on the shores of Lake Amistad on the Texas border with Mexico with a suicide note in plain view.

An internet search showed room rates for a two queen bed priced between $120 and $149 a night. A University of Tampa professor of sociology apologized for a tweet on Sunday suggesting that Texans deserved Hurricane Harvey because of their support for President Trump in the 2016 election. “I don’t believe in instant Karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas,” Ken Storey wrote in the original tweet, according to Campus Reform. “Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them." Six Flags Over Texas has flown the Confederate States of America flag since the park opened in 1961, and that is not going to change despite growing pressure around the country following the violence in Charlottesville.
