Michael Nutter (yeah, he is one), mayor of Philadelphia was just on TV calling my AR-15 a "weapon of mass destruction". Now, that there is rich, friends, coming from "The City that Bombed Itself."

WRAL (Raleigh TV Station) ^ | Saturday, January 19, 2013 1:37PM EST | Tara Lynn
RALEIGH, N.C. — At least two people were injured Saturday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting at the gun show being held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m., and two people were loaded into ambulances. A witness told WRAL that a gun went off after being checked by an official at a safety check-in location, hitting a man in the hand and a woman in the side. The Raleigh Fire Department confirmed that the Dixie Gun and Knife Show would be closed for the remainder of the day Saturday. There...

ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Hundreds of people met Wednesday evening to talk passionately about the Second Amendment and their rights to bear arms. Three local sheriffs, including Wake County's Donnie Harrison, took part in the minutemen's discussions in Zebulon. The meeting came just hours after President Obama unveiled his gun control plans. A boiling point in the meeting came about midway through. When dozens inside and dozens more outside of the Fargo Cattle Company Steakhouse bristled about a possibility that the federal government could violate their Second Amendment rights.

Was listening to the re-run of the Glenn Beck Radio Program this morning. Beck mentioned something about "a miracle" concerning the GOP-establishment capitulating to the Tea Party, and that he could say more because "it isn't our story."

We’ve featured massive brawls before, either at late-night restaurants or even on the streets. And there are many videos we decide not to feature. This video almost fell into the latter category, until we heard what one male bystander started encouraging one of the women featured in the video to do. These videos hit the internet last week, but have just started to garner more attention. It shows two women (the video calls them “Bootsie” and “China”), allegedly in Atlanta, in an all-out brawl that spans several minutes and even spills over into a parking lot, with one woman smashing...
  • Rumored: EBTs To Stop Working, Obama Blame Republicans

    Confidential Source
Heard: high-level workers inside the USDA's SNAP program are planning a false-flag operation to ensure Obama's re-election. The plan, as I heard it from my source, is to hack or otherwise tamper with EBT accounts such that on 12:01 AM on the first day of the month (in states that fill accounts then) the welfare recipients will not have any more money on their EBT than they did. I understand that EBT recipients line up at midnight at the stores on the 1st so they can start buying. Then, when massive numbers of EBT holders are freaking out, the perps...

PITTSBURGH—Mitt Romney’s pre-recorded video greeting for the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting received a lukewarm response here Friday, a reminder of his weakness on an issue important to the Republican base that at times dogged his 2008 campaign. (...) “I’m sorry I can’t be with you today in Pittsburgh, but I wanted to wish the National Rifle Association my congratulations (on) 140 years of defending our basic Constitutional rights,” he said in a two-minute video message. “Way to go!” Unlike tea party favorite Michele Bachmann, who also sent a pre-recorded video message, his two-minute spiel was not interrupted by applause....
  • Palin Damned by LOST Letter? [Vanity]

Palin supporters on FR been getting hit by anti-Palin FReepers (including EternalVigilance and the late-zotted pissant) over a letter Palin wrote to AK's Senators supporting the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), specifically adjudication over mineral rights. The PDSer's claim this letter is irrefutable proof that Palin wants to destroy US sovereignty. It looks to me like Palin, as usual for that period, was more interested in mineral rights and what was good for Alaska than subverting US sovereignty, as the PDSer's claim. Here is an analysis of the letter that seems to support what I'm thinking: http://opiniojuris.org/2008/10/09/sarah-palin%E2%80%99s-letter-in-support-of-the-law-of-the-sea-convention/ Palin wrote...

Challenged by the naysayers on recent posts about O'Donnell being down by double digits in the polls, I have decided to convince myself (and others) that she could win. I have been playing with an Excel spreadsheet (hosted at my website) that allows one to enter various turnout and expected voting percentages for the three categories of voters (Dem/GOP/Other).

DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC gave a big boost to the battered Michigan economy Friday when it announced plans to add about 1,100 workers to help build the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. The company made the announcement at a Detroit factory as it celebrated the start of Grand Cherokee production. Chrysler said it expects strong sales of the new sport utility vehicle, which is due in showrooms next month. Almost all the workers will be new hires, which Chrysler can pay about $14 per hour, about half the hourly rate received by current workers represented by the United Auto...
  • A Strategy for the Next Supreme Court Abortion Battle?

Activists on both sides of the abortion debate are carefully eyeing a Nebraska bill that's wending its way through the legislature this week. They wonder if a proposed ban might end up as the subject of the next Supreme Court abortion battle. The road to every major Supreme Court decision on a divisive social issue is littered with hundreds of hours of strategy sessions by lawyers, politicians and activists probing pending legislation to see if it has the potential to become a court challenge. The Nebraska bill -- which seeks to make abortions illegal after the 20th week of pregnancy...
