  • Daniel Craig reveals why he wanted to do 1 more Bond film

Another vote for Craig being the closest to the book Bond, followed by Connery.

Moore could be cold at times, such as the Cairo scene in Spy Who Loved me when the bad guy is hanging on by Bond’s tie. As soon as Bond get’s the info he wants he let’s the man fall to his death. But still, maybe Moore was too much of a decent fellow in real life and didn’t have the acting skills to keep that from coming through.

Lazenby was good, my third choice. But he let what was then the “Woke crowd” convince him Bond wasn’t cool so he only did one film.

Ah, the original Casino Royal TV special? Or the Bond spoof with David Niven? Or the Daniel Craig movie version? Well, Ursula Andress was quite comely in the parody. And, yes, that was an intentional parody. As much of a fan of Bond as I am, I also like the parodies, especially the whole “In Like Flint” series.

Thinking about getting ready to plant the usual tomatoes, hot peppers, beets, herbs, flint/field corn. Usually plant the weekend after Mother’s Day. Going to grow romanesco this year and maybe some fennel. Last year was a cold spring and lost most of my quince crop - the flowers never turned into fruit. It’s cold again this spring so worried same thing will happen. Should have a bumper crop of plums though.

Make my own corn meal and hominy from the field/flint corn preserved by drying. Buy the pickling lime online to make hominy. Makes for good cornbread, polenta and posole. Trying to learn how to make cornnuts from hominy. First batch didn’t work out so need a good recipe.

Not just Colorado. Other states are passing oppressive gun storage laws. There is a bill in the works in Oregon which would hold a gun owner liable for any gun-related crimes committed by someone they sold a gun too for two years. And another would make the former owner liable for any gun-related crimes if a crook managed to steal a gun which was not locked up nor had a difficult to defeat gun lock.

Best tomato salad: Start with coarsely chopped fresh heirloom tomato such as a Brandywine. Add a little minced garlic, a little olive oil, dash of salt, fresh chopped basil leaves and chunks of fresh mozzarella cheese. Mix and enjoy.

Best hamburger: Large heirloom tomato as big around as a hamburger bun. Cut a 1/2” thick slice and place over freshly grilled patty with lettuce and favorite condiments. Tomato slice should be as big around as the bun and patty.

This is from Oregon Public Broadcasting. Once again we see a judge inexplicably tossing out a conservative/Republican lawsuit on the basis of a lack of standing. The challenge included three Oregon lawmakers and was about the separation of powers in the State of Oregon. I'm not a lawyer but I have trouble understanding how Oregon lawmakers could not have standing on an issue of separation of powers within the state of Oregon.

The other remarkable thing is the article is in a leftist rag yet it's actually written in a fair manner and does not attack the lawmakers for being conservatives or Republicans.

Thank you for posting this. I agree with the part about neutralizing otherwise effective Conservatives by convincing them to “trust the plan”. What we actually need are more conservatives getting involved in the ‘soft war’ (legislation, ballot box, letter writing, etc.), not doing nothing because they were told to sit back and “trust the plan.”

The political Garrison cartoon does some excellent pro-conservative stuff. For some reason thought it might just be like that particular artist to hide something Q related in a cartoon. May have found one. This cartoon is from April. Note the shape of the outline of the tinfoil top of the popcorn popper. It looks like a capital 'Q' laying on it's side. The protrusion which makes it a 'Q' is on the left near Session's right ear. It only occurs once around the circumference.

I've been lurking on these threads for a while. Haven't spoken up until now as I'm a Q skeptic. Last thing I think Q is would be a 14 yr old in a basement some place. That much is obvious. But whether he/she/they are legit, psy-ops, or double-agent, I don't know. Q seems to promise what conservatives what to hear but those things don't always come to past. While I have my doubts about Q a lot of good is coming out of these threads. Things coming to light which otherwise might never have. One example: the enormous roles Google/Facebook/Twitter played in manipulating elections in favor of democrats. To me this is what FR should be. So many threads people just gripe but action never happens. On these threads things happen. While I'm a skeptic about who Q is and his/her/their intent I've had too many personal experiences to not know there's something very sinister going on in the world.

    1) I don't read every post so if this has already been mentioned sorry for the repeat. Pastor Richard Wurmbrand was a prisoner of the Soviet system. He later founded Voice of the Martyrs, an organization which helps persecuted Christians, and of which I'm a member. Years back Paster Wurmbrand wrote a book titled “Marx & Satan” (ISBN-13: 978-0891073796) which presents evidence Marx was a practicing Satanist. Although the book is good in that it sheds light on something very dark it is still depressing. Be sure to pray before reading it.

    2) Big Red = red cream ale. Delicious. Didn't know it was still made.

Started growing flint/field corn for my own homemade cornmeal and hominy. It began a couple years ago when seed for Hopi Blue Corn became more widely available. The corn stays on the stalk as long as possible (fall weather here is rainy). Then the seeds are removed from the cobs and placed in a food dehydrator for one or two days. Hand powered grinders produce a medium-coarse cornmeal. Also making hominy using pickling lime (a.k.a. cal). The results are mostly used for posole stew and cornbread but will try making some polenta soon. Last year grew a dark red corn called ‘Bloody Butcher’ in hopes of making some nice red cornbread. But it turned out mostly having just a bunch of red flakes in it. My hopes for red colored hominy were also dashed as the pickling lime turns the beautiful red color black. Not sure what I’ll grow this year. White or yellow field/flint seed is available but I prefer the colorful kind even if the flavor isn’t rated as high. (Indian Corn would be the non-PC name.)

Worthwhile to buy the original Bond books. The sequence of stories is different from that of the movies. And many of the movie versions have very different plots and settings. The original Moonraker book is almost completely different from the movie. About the only thing in common are rockets and the name of the main villain ‘Drax’.

Fleming had dealings with the Soviet government during WWII, knew what they were capable of, and hated them. In the original books Soviet intelligence was most often the bad guys. SPECTRE did not appear until much later chronologically speaking in contrast to appearing immediately in the first movie ‘Dr. No’. Decades before the term “politically correct” was coined the movie producers seemed to have changed plots to make SPECTRE the ever-appearing bad guys instead of SMERSH, perhaps to make the movies less inflammatory than the books and, therefore, more sellable during the Cold War.

Thanks to everyone for the responses on the coconut husk pots. I usually try to make cuts down the sides at a minimum but cutting off the bottom sounds good too. Unfortunately my favorite nursery uses them almost exclusively for veggies.

Thread claims no dumb questions so here goes... I have a question about the small pots starter veggies come in which are made from coconut husk instead of plastic. I know the reason for using coconut husk is to be “more green,” and to be honest, I don’t mind reducing plastic waste. But is the idea to leave the plant in the pot and plant the whole thing? Or try to extract the plant from the pot before planting? Often times the roots are intertwined with the husk material so it’s impossible to remove the pot without damaging at least some of the roots. But if the plant is left in the pot the pot constrains the roots and the plants never do as well. I had two Golden Ghost Pepper plants which did really well and their roots got past the pot. But most of my other pepper plants didn’t do as well and it was obvious the roots had been constrained.
