Here is a link to the Oregon Firearms Federation's 2018 Ratings of Oregon Candidates based on their support of the 2nd Amendment.
There is a very serious threat to gun ownership in Oregon in the form of ballot initiatives 43 and 44. Initiative 43 bans any future sale or purchase of 'assault weapons'. Existing assault weapons would have to be registered with the state police. The definition of an assault weapon is so broad even a .22 semi-auto can fall under the ban. Example: The wording states any full or partial shroud meant to protect the non-trigger hand from being burned by a hot barrel, and made from any material, is a feature of an assault weapon. The wooden stock of an old-school black-powder rifle would qualify as an assault weapon feature under that definition. The factory stock of a Ruger 10/22 protects the hand from being burned and is therefore an assault weapon feature. Combine that with it's semi-automatic action and the ability to accept a mag holding more than 10 rounds and viola - the 10/22 is an assault rifle.
Many people think our guns our safe because then don't see active legislation at the national level. This is a serious error. The Democrats know they cannot ban at the national level right now so they have changed tactics and are now going for as many bans as possible at the state level. Once they have sufficient state level bans in place, then if and when they do regain control of DC, they can propose a national assault weapon ban arguing it's no different than a dozen or more state-level bans already in place. An argument which would be effective on low-IQ votors who get their politics from late-night comedians.
Conservatives in Oregon please vote this year, please vote for candidates who support the 2A, and please vote against ballot initiatives 43 and 44.

Thankfully, I don’t live in that state but if I did, I would not register squat with the police agency that murdered LaVoy Finicum.
And they’re called semi-automatic rifles, not “assault weapons.”
I am supporting Greg Woolridge for Governor. The Oregon Tea Party’s anti or unendorsement of Sam Carpenter is part of the reason.
