A retired gun dog proved that his retrieving instinct, if not his judgment, was still sound when he proudly presented his owner with an unexpected find - a live hand grenade. Jake the 15-year-old labrador, who is blind in one eye, is rather deaf and walks unsteadily, emerged from a bush, his tail wagging, to present Stefan Bojanowski with his find. His owner initially thought his old companion had dug up a harmless lump of metal. It was only when he retrieved it that he realised it was a rusty, Second World War grenade. Jake made his unwelcome find as...

OK Folks my family needs your help. My brother in law developed a viral infection 2 days ago which sent him into the hospital. He flat lined for 37 minutes but came back to us. He has a living will that states he cannot be kept alive by artificial means. We are taking him off the respirator this afternoon. Please assist us your prayers to help him pull through this. He is...

A: One! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the #&%!* light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CABINET for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them, 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on...

This is an old one but needs to be re-circulated.   Andy Rooney's tips for telemarketers Three Little Words That Work !! (1)The three little words are: "Hold On, Please..."Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead ofhanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much moretime-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt. Then when you eventually hear the phone company's "beep-beep-beep" tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which hasefficiently completed its task. These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting. (2) Do you ever get those...

Osama's Valentine (Vanity, Humor) Little Melissa comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine's Day. "Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian Saint and we're Jewish," she asks, "will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine? "Melissa's father thinks a bit, then says, "No, I don't think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?" "Osama Bin Laden," she says. "Why Osama Bin Laden?" her father asks in shock. "Well," she says, "I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have...

MINEOLA (CBS) Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon has announced the break-up of a scheme to sell confidential patient information from a local hospital. Seven employees of the Nassau University Medical Center are arrested, charged with taking the personal information of patients coming in my emergencies and selling them. It's believed they peddled the information to a so-called distributor, who would then sell it off to lawyers for as much as $5,000 a patient. It's believed those lawyers would then contact the patients, expecting to be hired for a lawsuit. (MMIV, CBS Broadcasting Inc., All Rights Reserved.)

striving to come to terms with the mandate Bush received this week from the American public. Thus Chirac downplayed his old claims that Europe could offer an alternative pole to U.S. power and called instead for “a tight transatlantic partnership.” Karsten Voigt, a close advisor to German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, talked about the need for Bush and Europe to pull closer together “in rhetoric, in gestures, but also in substance.”

VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) An anti-John Kerry demonstrator was charged with felony aggravated assault with a gun for allegedly pointing a weapon at the head of a Kerry supporter. Garone and others were holding anti-Kerry signs at a street corner Monday in Vero Beach when Trevor Pickering drove up and said ``Go Kerry,'' according to an arrest affidavit. Pickering argued with the anti-Kerry protesters, and then got out of the car and knocked a sign out of the hands of one of the demonstrators. ``That's when (Garone) walked...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Whether the photos show grieving relatives of a beheaded hostage or naked Iraqis in a military prison camp, they are more likely to be published in domestic newspapers since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a panel of journalists said Friday. ``Since 9/11, I think there is probably a moving standard, a changing standard for the sorts of pictures we will run in the paper,'' said Chris Peck, editor of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn. Peck was moderator of a discussion about ``tough calls in photojournalism'' at a joint session of the Associated Press Managing Editors and...

LANSING, Mich. (AP) After nearly 50,000 Michigan Democrats cast ballots over the Internet in February, academics eagerly sought election data that would help them determine what types of people voted online.Researchers and civil rights experts say Michigan's Democratic Party is merely one of a number of organizations that are stingy with voting data even though computerized balloting systems and registration databases make such information relatively easy to share. But as the head of a major political party dealing with a presidential election in a battleground state, Brewer says he simply hasn't had time to organize the data for academics. The party,...

Here is your chance to get back to true American Journalism! With the uproar over CBS and their obvious partisan politics and liberally biased reporting during this election period, now is the chance for the entrenched mainstream media to regain the respect of the American people. The mainstream media should take this opportunity to take a long hard look at their news organizations and ask themselves if they are truly non-partisan when it comes to politics. I am sure if you take a long hard look, you will agree that you have not been exactly honest with the American people....

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) A federal judge Tuesday declined a request from the ACLU to stop the Omaha World-Herald from naming an atheist who sued over a Ten Commandments monument displayed in a public park. U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf said there was no proof the restraint was appropriate. In a statement, the man said if his name is revealed, he would consider moving his family from Plattsmouth because his life has been threatened. The city is south of Omaha. The ACLU said it would have to speak to the man before deciding the next move. The ACLU filed suit in...
