Word from Washington Wednesday January 3rd was that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was using his power to appoint 17 interim US Attorneys across the nation. Sessions has designated Dayle Elieson as Interim US Attorney for Nevada. She will assume that post Friday January 5th meaning that lead Bunkerville prosecutor Steven Myhre, whom Sessions praised profusely during a Las Vegas visit last July for his "leadership" and "standing for the law" among other things, will no longer be Acting US Attorney. Brown in Portland has come down on Ryan Payne and Jon Rtizheimer after they met recently for a reunion of sorts at Bundy Ranch in Nevada. US District Judge Gloria Navarro decided on a mistrial in the third Bunkerville Standoff trial today, citing extensive withholding of exculpatory evidence in the case. She wants written arguments from the prosecution and defense on whether she should declare a mistrial with prejudice or without, setting a December 29th deadline for written arguments. Late Monday, Acting US Attorney Steven Myhre filed a motion saying the defense should not be allowed to say federal agents actions caused the defendants to be entrapped or to act in self-defense.
