Paying for unemploymentTo restore sustainability, it will be necessary to increase unemployment insurance taxes and to cut benefits. November 09, 2010 California's unemployment insurance fund became insolvent nearly two years ago, and federal interest-free loans to shore it up — and to allow the state to keep paying laid-off workers without hiking the cost to businesses — are due to run out at the end of the year. The problem is basic: With unemployment at 12%, the fund is paying out far more to unemployed workers than it is taking in from employers, who fund the program through unemployment taxes....

Check out the video of a Boxer snoring. His whole face is flipping out as he snores. Here is the link to the, Hilarious Video of a Snoring Dog

The Snoring Poem A snarling noise rips the peace of the nightAnd stirs sleep in the house on the hill. The dog wakes up and moves from his bedTo seek safety - as all good dogs will.Again and again the growling rings out,Shaking the house to the core,Until at last the woman reacts,"Wake up -you're starting to snore!"With a jerk and a curse the husband awakes(or at least enough to show willing). He turns on his side and drops off againAnd returns to his nightmare so thrilling. But all is not well in the land of his dreamsAnd he struggles to swim...

While the rest of the nation went red in Tuesday's midterm elections, California emerged even bluer. What's going on? The standard answer is that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans, and that many decline-to-state voters lean Democratic. But there's a more telling reason, one that promises to keep California blue for years. The state's rising numbers of new voters - newly minted immigrant voters, minorities and voters between the ages of 18 and 29 - are overwhelmingly Democratic in their preferences.

He mentioned it in his election night victory speech. That seems so weird to me. When was he married to Barbara and why did take her name? Is it safe to say that it was a same-sex marriage I'm so confused! ----------------------------------------------------See more posts and art at The Looking Spoon (www.thelookingspoon.com)

In one of the most critical midterm elections in recent years, Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer won over Whitman and Fiorina, both by at least 10% while on the national level, Republicans took back a majority of seats in the house, with 239 to Democrat’s 18, and Democrats kept their hold on the Senate, with 51 to 46. California kept true to its blue roots, choosing Brown over Whitman in a time when the Democratic vote is not the most popular one. His 13% lead over Whitman was predicted, however, as Whitman’s image had faltered with the public in the...

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."--Abraham Lincoln Welcome to the land of fools, California, where you can indeed fool all of the people all of the time. Witness Tuesday's election. Jerry Brown: former two-term governor who, despite term limit rules in California has argued his previous two-terms occurred prior to the term limit law being passed and therefore, didn't count. This from the recent State Attorney General who should be enforcing laws on...

19% in and FIORINA is AHEAD OF BOXER!!!
-
Senate candidate Carly Fiorina is in the lead in the California race. This comes as even FoxNews has projected the race for incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer. Fiorina appears to have a solid chance of winning this race, as she is leading in heavily Republican areas with many precincts yet to be counted. Boxer is winning in San Francisco and Los Angeles, as can be expected but they appear to not be as wide as could be expected. According to Politico Fiorina has opened a .7% lead statewide over Boxer.

"It is going to be fascinating to watch California go bankrupt, state pensions and all. I say “fascinating” because last yesterday’s AMERICAN victory means California will NOT get the federal bailout to which they feel entitled. The only thing the depraved voters of California proved yesterday is their stiff-necked obstinance. As far as I’m concerned we can give them to Mexico and build a fence around them because that state is like arsenic to our nation. Let Mexico take..." (continued)

Democrat Barbara Boxer survived the strongest challenge of her political career Tuesday, with Republican challenger Carly Fiorina conceding Wednesday morning. CNN, The Associated Press, The Los Angeles Times and The Sacramento Bee already declared Tuesday evening that Boxer had won a fourth term in the Senate, helping to ensure that Democrats maintained control of the upper house of Congress. “No surprise,” said Democratic supporter Jeff LeTourneau, 54, of Brea after hearing that TV news projected a win for Boxer. “I really thought Barbara would be fine all along.” Fiorina, after mulling overnight, finally admitted defeat. “This has been a great...

Saying "the outcome is clear," GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina conceded defeat this morning to Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer. Addressing reporters, Fiorina said she had called Boxer to express her congratulations. And she said it was time for Democrats and Republicans to set aside partisanship. "I hope all will come together," she said, adding that members of Congress should "redouble their efforts to make sure that all people have a chance to live the American Dream.

Somehow, some of us believed that at least Fiorina could pull it off, because, as a resident of this crazy state, it didn't appear that there was a lot of love for Boxer. And I even thought Meg Whitman could surprise the pundits and possibly squeak out a win. After all, Jerry Brown, a career polititian, is like a joke who has done just about nothing right. So how did Boxer and Brown do it? Yes, I've seen what I think is voter fraud before, but I don't think it's enough to add up to a big win. Yes, there...

In 2006, Democrats successfully won back control of Congress by highlighting corruption scandals involving Jack Abramoff, a lobbyist specializing in Indian tribes. But does one Democrat in particular have a problem of her own with her interventions on behalf of a California tribe that now operates a casino just outside of San Francisco? Barbara Boxer pushed a bill reinstating a tribe designated as “defunct” by the BIA 40 years earlier. Rick Manning at The Hill says the deal — and what ensued — would have “made Jack Abramoff blush”: {Update: Withdrawn by The Hill. See Update III below.] Manning also...

We're down to the wire--Senate control likely will hinge on one race. The California Senate race could well be that race. It would really be horrible to get down to all the votes counted nationwide in the Senate races and find the Republicans are one short of control--and then to lose both California and Washington after the polls close in the West. We need to win at least 1 of these 2 seats to get to 51 seats, possibly both now that West Virginia appears to be going sour. To make sure we win tomorrow, both the House and Senate,...

Barbara Boxer maintains a small lead over Carly Fiorina, in spite of the blogosphere reporting on two scandals involving the incumbent Democrat. The first is a story that received hundreds of thousands of ‘hits' and was first broken by Scott Swett in mid-October on The American Thinker blog: Barbara Boxer, Code Pink's Favorite Senator Perhaps the most revealing window into Boxer's true feelings towards our military is her close alliance with Code Pink, a radical leftist group that reviles American troops as terrorists and assassins while praising their enemies as freedom fighters. For years, Code Pink has viciously harassed wounded...

Boxer Resurrects Indian Tribe Deemed Defunct 40 Years Ago, Son Profits $8 Million Off It It doesn't get more corrupt than this.... For the past 10 years Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) has been playing a game that would make Jack Abramoff blush, a game that can best be described using the language of “Get Smart’s” Maxwell Smart as “the ole family-profiting-off-of-the-Indian-tribe-that-you-created trick.” Here’s the story. In 1998, Lynn Woolsey introduced legislation reinstating an Indian tribe in the wine country of Northern California that had been declared defunct by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1958. None of the Indians of...

When Carly Fiorina came to Chico Ca yesterday, she was greeted with applause and cheers from those who came to hear her speech. It is unfortunate that her appearance was not planed far enough in advance that more supporters could have come, but Chico is a small community and California is a very big state. Truth is, Fiorina's campaign is so booked up they were not sure if a visit to Chico was even possible. So it was a last minute decision by her campaign to have her fly into Chico after a campaign stop in Sacramento. Even after Steve...
