Providence police are introducing additional training to help officers interact with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Mayor Jorge Elorza and Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements say they’re dedicated to creating LGBT-inclusive policies for members of the department as well as specific training curriculum for the next police academy. Clements says the goal is to help officers become more aware of issues facing the LGBT community in Providence. The Mexican consul in Chicago said that immigrants are flocking to the Windy City before Donald Trump becomes president because Chicago is a sanctuary city, according to a report Tuesday in El Financiero. Chicago cops just slapped 4 suspects with multiple charges -- including hate crime -- for kidnapping and torturing the 18-year-old man in that horrific Facebook Live video. Jordan Hill, Tesfaye Cooper, Brittany Covington and Tanishia Covington were charged Thursday with aggravated kidnapping, hate crime, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Jordan was additionally charged with robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle. Three of the 4, including Jordan, were also charged with residential burglary. CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have released crime statistics from 2016, with a police spokesman calling it an "unacceptable rise in violence." In the worst violence in nearly 20 years, Chicago saw 762 murders, 3,550 shooting incidents and 4,331 shooting victims.

Democratic politicians, including mayors in three major cities, are looking to use millions in taxpayer funds to protect illegal immigrants in their cities from deportation. Mayors of Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco are looking to create funds to provide attorneys to illegal immigrants who face deportation, the Wall Street Journal reports. If these efforts succeed, the amount of taxpayer money set aside to protect illegal immigrants will easily be in the millions. California alone will consider a bill that may cost between $10-80 million per year. Los Angeles has already set aside $10 million for an immigrant defense fund.
