Opposition research being sent around about President Trump’s second nominee to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh, accuses him of calling Hillary Clinton a bitch 21 years ago–in a private setting among friends where he was allegedly seen to mouth the b-word but not actually say it. The fate of Kavanaugh’s nomination to the high court apparently depends on whether this is seen as a resume enhancer or a nomination killer. The Washington Post’s Robert Costa tweeted several days ago about a snippet from a book by former conservative journalist turned Democratic Party activist David Brock about a gathering he attended...

Help! President Donald Trump so completely controls my mind that I have been physically weakened to the extent that I can even open jars! Brigid Delaney, a fitness writer for the Australian edition of The Guardian newspaper, claimed on July 4 that the election of Donald Trump sent her into such a funk that she quit going to the gym with the result that her body strength declined precipitously. Delaney made her revelation of Trump's complete domination of her mind and body in I stopped going to the gym because of Trump. Now I can't open jars:

The late Charles Krauthammer was right about the rules of good writing. The use of the first-person pronoun in opinion writing is a cardinal sin. To get a sense of how bad someone's writing is count the number of times he or she deploys the Imperial "I" on the page. Krauthammer considered a single "I" in a piece to be a failure. Use "I" when the passive-form alternative is too clumsy. Or, when the writer herself has earned the right to, because of her relevance to the story. (The story itself, naturally, should have relevance.) The second is my excuse...

Tucker Carlson devoted a segment of his show last night to discussing Democratic Socialism with Professor Cornel West. After outlining some of the policy prescriptions advocated by Democratic Socialists—â€state ownership of major industries,†reparations for black Americans, abolishing ICE, etc—Carlson asked Cornel West for an example of where such a program has worked.“Can you point to an example, an extant example, of it that works? Venezuela seems like an example of Democratic Socialism. Would you say that it is and if so does it work?†Carlson asked.“No, I don’t think that Democratic Socialism as an ideal has been able...

On Thursday, four journalists and one staff member of the Capital Gazette were murdered in the newspaper’s Annapolis, Maryland, office. While the event was initially widely covered by all major news outlets, the media is likely to quickly move on from the story, just like it did with the Santa Fe High School shooting, because it doesn’t fit the right narrative. (Unlike many of the Parkland students, the Santa Fe students didn’t respond to the tragedy by calling for gun control measures.) That in itself is a shame, not just because there is much to learn from this tragedy, but...

Dear Democrats/Progressives: I see the signs at your protests: “What’s Next? Concentration Camps … Oh, wait” “I Care. Do you?” “Love, Not Trump” And all the rest. What are you really angry at, Democrats? It can’t be just Donald Trump. You were poised to hate any Republican who defeated Hillary Clinton. I remember how you hated Ronald Reagan (if you were alive then). And you likewise hated the hapless George Bushes and Mitt Romneys, who sided with you more than against you, including on immigration. So what do you really hate, Democrats? And why do you hate it? It can’t...

I put up a similar post earlier tonight. Please disregard and let that thread die. I decided to limit my list only to those presidential candidates who have officially declared. So no more speculating on the likes of Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush, etc. Until they decide to run, they will not be considered here. I did something similar during the 2016 campaign and it was well-received here. I will make this a monthly post right through November of 2020 so if you want in on my ping list, let me know. The purpose of these...

White House reporters apparently thought that Jarrod Ramos’s murderous rampage was somehow President Trump’s fault. When he crossed the White House lawn late yesterday afternoon, they hectored him for a statement on the shootings. The bitterness in their voices is palpable. NBC News tweeted this as if they were proud of it: The president had already released a statement on the shootings at the time he was badgered by reporters. Then we have Rob Cox, a senior editor at Reuters, who tweeted: This is what happens when @realDonaldTrump calls journalists the enemy of the people. Blood is on your hands,...

Judge Brett Kavanaugh sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Several news articles, including those here, here, and here, mention him as a leading contender to be nominated by President Donald Trump to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the United States Supreme Court.

Quick, with MAGA-shocking news reverberating there’s a mid-west rush on winnamins. Remember that massive MAGA Trump rally last week in Duluth Minnesota? That would be the 9,000 strong rally where twice as many were turned away? Well, the data team at MAGA HQ have crunched the numbers and Brad Parscale shares the results: “The crowd at the Minnesota rally was 60% Democrat and Independent.”

Dirty Cop James Comey KILLED immunity deal with Julian Assange. Assange could have revealed where the leaked Wikileaks email came from. Comey killed it. Julian Assange has repeatedly said his source for the Podesta emails WAS NOT the Russian government. Despite this the Deep State launched a bogus investigation to smear President Trump and bring down his administration. It’s time for a reckoning. The Hill‘s John Solomon broke the news on Monday night.

Vice reported: The co-owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, has had a hell of a time since she decided to 86 Sarah Huckabee Sanders from her restaurant on Friday, coming under attack from an army of Trump supporters. But despite all the backlash she’s gotten from the right, Stephanie Wilkinson says she doesn’t regret a thing. “I would have done the same thing again,” she told the Washington Post. “We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions. This appeared to be one.” When Sanders came to the Red Hen with...

This may look like a return of popular protest in Iran, but in truth those demonstrations haven’t entirely stopped. Until recently, though, they mostly stayed out of Tehran. Over the last several days, demonstrations at retailers grew into a massive rally that closed down the city’s Grand Bazaar and then marched on Iran’s parliament: #BREAKING: Protesters have swarmed Tehran's Grand Bazaar amid nationwide anger over the country's troubled economy – semi-official news agency in Iran pic.twitter.com/Mv1IIPVYv5— Amichai Stein (@AmichaiStein1) June 25, 2018 Protesters angered by Iran’s cratering economy confronted police officers in front of parliament on Monday, with security...

Is this a case of sincere regret, fear of asymmetrical application, or privilege-splaining? I’ll bet that Maxine Waters takes Door Number 3 in her response to Nancy Pelosi’s slap at Waters’ suggestion that Donald Trump’s opponents harass White House employees whenever out in public. Pelosi was careful to blame Trump for the “lack of civility,†but it’s nonetheless a shot across Waters’ bow: Nancy Pelosi rebuked fellow Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters on Monday for urging her supporters to confront Trump administration officials in their day-to-day lives. The House Democratic leader’s censure of her colleague highlights the difficult choices Democratic leaders...

Not that this will come as a surprise, but it is entertaining to watch NBC’s John Heilemann gleefully explain how “we” have a great opportunity to bludgeon President Trump and the GOP with the faux crisis at the border. In a mere 47 seconds, he gives the game away on a couple of fronts:

Ray Lucia, who gives investment advice in a nationally syndicated radio program, today (June 21) won his case at the Supreme Court. The high court split 7 to 2 in Lucia’s favor. It was not a surprise, because of the court’s current conservative bent. An administrative law judge had banned Lucia from the securities industry in 2013 on the grounds that his Buckets of Money investment strategy used false information. In September of 2015, the full commission upheld the administrative law judge’s ban.

Stormy Daniels, the adult-film star who is suing President Trump and his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, says she is heading to the border to offer assistance to migrants. "I am headed down in a week," Daniels tweeted on Thursday to a user asking her to help children impacted by President Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policies. "Don't worry. Just figuring out my best course of action to maximize my resources."
