An optimist would say the Black Lives Matter movement is working. Even if there were no other signs of progress, the incessant, contorted attacks the movement now faces from the right would be evidence enough. Only a movement that’s making inroads would draw such ire and condemnation. A pessimist would say that conservative crazy-talk tactic is working, drumming up fear among white Americans and turning the most galvanizing civil rights group of our time into a perceived threat. On Fox News, Black Lives Matter is the new Benghazi, the newest favorite target of the panoply of conservative commentators and conservative...

Snoop Dogg, Kanye West and others have referenced him in their tracks, but rappers should know better than to venerate someone who couldn’t care less about their community. Donald Trump references have peppered hip-hop tracks for decades. Everybody from Ice Cube to A Tribe Called Quest to Lil Wayne have name-dropped the famously-coiffed billionaire in their rhymes—usually as an acknowledgement of great wealth or a lavish lifestyle. His presence has been so pervasive in rap music that emcees like Gucci Mane, Jeezy, E-40, and Mac Miller have released songs literally bearing his name, and The Huffington Post recently created a...

Donald Trump is a very useful man, to both the Democratic and Republican factions of the ruling corporate party. The “White Man’s Party” (Republican) faction can blame excesses of hate on him, and the other faction (Democrats) can make their case as the lesser evil. Black people will once again feel they have no choice in the matter. “It is fear of Republicans that holds Black people captive to the Democratic Party.” That’s why the party is a trap. “The White Man’s Party will be a permanent contender for national electoral dominion as long as white supremacy remains the dominant...

Thursday on TV One’s “News One Now,” the leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan called on African-Americans to boycott Christmas because it’s a “bonanza for white business.” Discussing the “Justice Or Else” rally on October 10 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March, Farrakhan said the meaning of “Justice Or Else,” was a reference to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1968 Memphis sanitation worker strike. Quoting King, Farrakhan said, “He said ‘we have to find a way to redistribute the pain,’ He talked about going to businesses that benefited from black dollars and he said,...

Law enforcement agencies are on high alert this week due to violent threats coming from the Black Lives Matter movement. According to several Be On Look Out (BOLO) alerts sent from several law enforcement agencies and exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller, some members of the “#blacklivesmatter and #fyf911 are calling for the murder of more police officers on a site called blog radio.” One caller on the show says, “When those [expletives] are by themselves, that’s when when we should start [expletive]ing them up. Like they do us, when a bunch of them n**s takin’ one of us out,...

Is the white vote returning to American politics? Four recent national polls all confirm what is likely to be the galvanizing force of the GOP presidential primary season at least through next spring and what is almost certainly behind Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" surge: an effort to bring disaffected white voters back to voting booths. Nearly every political and social scientist in America has predicted for years that demographics are shifting inexorably against the Republican Party nationally -- that growing numbers of Hispanic and Millennial voters will join black voters in keeping the GOP from capturing the White...

Academics and public intellectuals, who should know better, attempt to explain the highly visible and publicized pathology witnessed in cities such as Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Ferguson and others as a legacy of slavery. The argument is made that the problems encountered by many black Americans are rooted in white racism, greed and income inequality. They are able to get away with these untruths because most people believe that what is seen today has always been. A bit of history would belie such a vision. It would be foolhardy to argue that slavery has had no effect or that racial discrimination,...

It is safe to say that virtually all political professionals think Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is doomed. The odds of him winning the Republican nomination are long and the odds of him winning the general election are nonexistent, they say. The key reason is that Trump’s campaign is based on alienating Latinos, a large and fast-growing voter bloc, by supporting the deportation of 11 million undocumented immigrants and building a wall along the border with Mexico to prevent further emigration. If the eventual Republican nominee needs 47 per cent of the Latino vote to win the general election — the...

In a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday, a Black Lives Matter activist declares that it's now "open season" for killing white people and police officers. Showing an image of black people standing on the U.S. flag, the host of the BlogTalkRadio program talks about "picking off" police officers. "And," the host says, "there's nothing" that white people can do about it. "His day is up," the unidentified host adds, speaking of white people. "We will witness more executions and killing of white people and cops than we ever have before," the host said. "It's about to go down," added...

A Survey USA poll released Friday shows that 25% of black respondents said they would vote for Trump over Clinton. According to The American Mirror Trump would more than double the best result for a Republican in modern American history… Looking at the last 10 presidential election cycles, the highest black vote share for a Republican was 12% for Bob Dole in 1996. Blacks today make up 22% of the Democratic vote. If Democrats lost 25% of the black vote they would lose Virginia, Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.

Chicago has some of the toughest gun-control laws in the country. It also has a new record for shooting deaths in a single day. The Windy City had nine shooting deaths on Wednesday — its highest rate of single-day fatalities in over a decade. On July 5, 2003, there were 10 homicides in the city. The Chicago Tribune did an extensive analysis of its records before reporting Wednesday’s grim milestone.

Things are getting bloody in America’s cities. Homicide rates are spiking in many U.S. cities. There are different factors that are contributing to the violence, one of them being stringent anti-gun laws, which keep law-abiding citizens disarmed and vulnerable while the criminal element’s access remains unmolested. Yet, The New York Times reported that one of the demographics driving the spike in murder rates isn’t out of the ordinary. It’s young men relying on violence to settle disputes: Cities across the nation are seeing a startling rise in murders after years of declines, and few places have witnessed a shift...

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders told the host that “unarmed black people” getting ”dragged out of cars” or getting shot “is happening too often.” Sanders said this after Tapper showed him video of Ron Hickman, the sheriff of Harris County, Texas, responding to the murder of a deputy sheriff at a gas station, declaring, “This rhetoric has gotten out of control. We have heard black lives matter, all lives matter. Well, cops’ lives matter, too. So why don’t we just drop the qualifier and just say lives matter and take that to...

In a wide-ranging conference call with the Black Press, the Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said the upcoming “Justice or Else” rally set for October 10 celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March is just the beginning of the movement. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr., president and CEO of the NNPA and the national director of the 1995 Million Man March, moderated the call, fielding pooled questions from dozens of publishers and editors from Black newspapers across the country. The League of the South has gone to "Security Condition Orange" and other white supremacist organizations are saying it's time for action.Hate groups across the country are using Wednesday’s televised shooting of two Virginia journalists as a call to arms in the “race war” the shooter referenced in a manifesto he sent to a national news outlet. One group has gone to “Security Condition Orange,” its second-highest alert level, which it says means “eminent (sic) danger probable.” In his manifesto, faxed shortly after the shooting to ABC News, shooter Vester Flanagan claimed to have killed WDBJ journalists Alison Parker, 24,...

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — The woman who survived the on-air shooting that killed two TV journalists says she never saw the gunman walk up to the group because the camera's bright light blinded her. Vicki Gardner, a chamber of commerce official, was answering questions about the community on live TV when the gunfire erupted. She was wounded as she fell to the ground after hearing the first gunshots, her husband said Friday. The gunman, Vester Flanagan, ambushed WDBJ-TV cameraman Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker during the interview Wednesday at the Smith Mountain Lake Visitor Center....
