"............................Then [Obama] claimed his government-centered policies have boosted education and opportunity among African-Americans. “The education reforms that we’ve initiated are showing measurable results… We are seeing record numbers of young people attending college,” he said. But in Obama’s high-unemployment economy, even blacks with college degrees are doing worse than their pre-depression peers. “Among recent graduates ages 22 to 27, the jobless rate for [graduate] blacks last year was 12.4 percent versus 4.9 percent for whites,” said a New York Times article, which was published quietly on Christmas Day. “This 7.5 percentage point difference was far greater than before the recession…...

**SNIP** After mentioning the Sony emails and telling his listeners who Elba is, Limbaugh said, “Here’s the thing, though… James Bond is a fictional character, obviously. James Bond was invented, created by Ian Fleming… and James Bond is… white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is.” “But now Sony is suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton rather than a white from Scotland,” continued Limbaugh. “But that’s NOT who James Bond is, and I know it’s racist to probably even point this out… We had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond...

As millions of moviegoers sit down in front of the same few studio films playing at their local theater over the holidays, the handful of Hollywood creators behind those projects will have that still-rare power: the undivided attention of much of the country. In communities of all kinds, audiences young and old, of various backgrounds, will gather to consume the artistic vision of a select few people. In this way, a single film, whether it’s transporting millions to different worlds, pushing them to explore the depths of their own feelings, or imagining the assassination of a world leader, can still...

The nation's oldest black college, Cheyney University, one of Pennsylvania's 14 state-run universities, is on the verge of a financial meltdown that threatens its ability to continue operating, a state official said on Wednesday. Cheyney's student body has shrunk by two-thirds, to about 1,000, since its 1983 peak, and its four-year graduation rate is just 9 percent. A quarter of students never receive a degree, and student loan defaults are high.

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she's proud to have been part of an administration that "banned illegal renditions and brutal interrogations" and said the U.S. should never be involved in torture anywhere in the world. [Snip] She declared, "yes, black lives matter," a mantra of demonstrators around the country who have been protesting recent grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers involved in the deaths of unarmed black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and in New York. She wondered what Kennedy would say about "the thousands of Americans marching in our streets demanding justice for all," and "the mothers...

December 17, 2014, 08:15 am Obamas say they're no strangers to racism By Justin Sink The president and the first lady chronicled a series experiences in People magazine that they say demonstrated some of the latent racism that blacks in America continue to face. "There's no black male my age, who's a professional, who hasn't come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn't hand them their car keys," the president said. The first lady said someone had asked her husband to get them coffee because he was wearing a tuxedo at a black-tie dinner,...

An unequal economic recovery has helped create the largest wealth gap between minorities and whites in more than a decade, a new report found. The gap has grown, as white Americans -- who are more likely to own stocks -- rode surging financial markets to greater wealth, the Pew Research Center said Friday. Meanwhile, minorities, hit harder by the housing crash, saw their wealth decline between 2010 and 2013.

19-Year-Old Jessica Lane Chambers was brutally murdered in Mississippi two nights ago. Unfortunately the details of her murder are so horrific to comprehend they make the current racial anxiety in the headlines seem small, yet also potentially more explosive. …When the fire department got there, she was walking down the road on fire. […] They squirted lighter fluid down her throat and in her nose… Yes, Jessica was white; and no, by all accounts her killer(s) were not. She wasn’t just attacked, beaten, and burned alive – she was brutalized beyond all horrific imaginings. When you identify what took place,...
