Here's a 29 minute 57 second video of the Shindig Halloween Show from 1965. The only copy available available has a missing five minute segment that had four cut songs including Boris Karloff singing The Monster Mash! The missing audio segment was recorded by Lionelatwill in 1965, when he was only a kid, (a smart kid) and those missing minutes were edited in to the video from the 13:17 to 19:15 section. I edited some of the show's other video clips and then synched to Lionelatwil's audio. Here's the closest thing to the complete episode available. Enjoy the blast from...

I have an alter ego in the blogosphere. Here, it’s politics, but on Facebook I blog about popular music, usually leaning heavily towards rock and roll. And until a few days ago I never imagined that there would be any ideological cross-pollination to worry about. But then I had an epiphany… I’ll start my little tale here- I blog about music to promote a fiction book that I wrote 3 years ago. The book is about a garage band from the early 70′s that was on the cusp of making it big, but then fell just short. I plot an...

Singer and guitarist Alex Chilton, who topped the charts as a teen and later became a cult hero with Big Star, died Wednesday. He was 59. Chilton died at a hospital in New Orleans after experiencing what appeared to be heart problems, said his longtime friend John Fry. Fry said Chilton's wife, Laura, was very distressed by the unexpected death. "Alex was an amazingly talented person, not just as a musician and vocalist and a songwriter, but he was intelligent and well read and interested in a wide number of music genres," said Fry, the owner of Memphis-based Ardent Studios.
