Celebrating the Miracle at Midway It is hard to imagine now but in June of 1942 it seemed a good possibility that the Americans and British could be on the losing side of the Second World War. In June 1942 the Japanese onslaught in the Pacific appeared nearly unstoppable. The Imperial Navy stormed across the Pacific and Indian Oceans in the months after Pearl Harbor decimating Allied Naval forces that stood in their way.

The battle is not yours it's the Lord's. But, He has to fight your battle through you. He has given you a weapon and it's up to you to use it. The weapon He has given you to use is his word (Ephesians 6:17). And it's powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword (Hebrews 4:12). In life you have a choice either you can fight the battles in life in your own strength or in the power of God. Notice in Deuteronomy 7:1,2 it says, "When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to...

Special Report: Tea Party grassroots army readies for battleBy Nick Carey | Reuters – Thu, Dec 15, 2011 MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (Reuters) - For insight into the conservative Tea Party movement's battle plan in 2012, check out Joe Dugan's Google spreadsheets. Dugan, 66, a retired manufacturing executive and chairman of the Myrtle Beach Tea Party, is particularly proud of the scoring system he's devised for South Carolina legislators. Every vote by a member of the state's House or Senate is recorded, with points awarded for those that reflect the conservative position. "Let's say you get above a five, we'll...

U.S. Air Force airmen from the Washington Air National Guard directed multiple airstrikes May 25 helping a significantly outnumbered U.S. Army and Afghan National Security Force unit fight through an ambush and free a district center from insurgents. Joint terminal air controllers from the 116th Air Support Operations Squadron, in communication with coalition fighter and bomber aircraft, directed aerial attack on enemy positions while U.S. and Afghan soldiers fought to drive insurgents from Do Ab, a tiny village in Nuristan province, Afghanistan. It was the largest battle ever fought by members of the Washington Air National Guard, and one of...

Become A “Battle Saint”May 12, 2011 5:03 PM **SNIP** The idea is the brainchild of Cynthia Lemay who wanted to honor the men and women who serve in the U.S. military. The bracelet sells for $5 and is made of wood with pictures of saints on it. “Wherever I go, people ask me about the bracelet, the story behind it, how we came up with the idea. And people who wear them just feel like it gives them a sense of protection,” Lemay told WWJ’s Marie Osborne. Lemay said she got the idea for the bracelet while chatting with young...

At 4:30 p.m. on April 21, after scout Deaf Smith announced the burning of Vince's Bridge (cutting off the primary avenue of retreat for both armies), the main Texan battle line moved forward. A fifer played the popular tune "Will you come to the bower I have shaded for you?" General Houston personally led the infantry, posting the 2nd Volunteer Regiment of Colonel Sidney Sherman on his far left, with Colonel Edward Burleson's 1st Volunteer Regiment next in line. In the center, two small brass smoothbore artillery pieces (donated by citizens of Cincinnati, Ohio, and known as the "Twin Sisters,"...

Six U.S. soldiers were killed in action and at least 15 others wounded in Afghanistan earlier this week when they came under fire while on patrol in a remote and dangerous region close to the Pakistan border. ABC News' Mike Boettcher was accompanying the soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division when the attack occurred in Kunar Province on March 29. They were patrolling close to the border when they were fired upon from three sides by Taliban fighters. The troops were on a mission to show force in an area where the U.S. largely has abandoned small bases. The heavy...

While several unions and a multitude of Marxist groups are involved in the Wisconsin and other state capitol protests, the lead organization is undoubtedly America's huge public sector union, the  American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). AFCSME website While ostensibly about preserving public sector union collective bargaining 'rights', the protests are really a confrontation of values. AFSCME wants to preserve and expand union power in an increasingly government dominated economy. AFSCME is confronting several, mainly 'Tea Party' backed state governors who want to roll back the power of the unions, in order to save their states from...

The ex-governor and her Mama Grizzlies argue that the real women’s issue is our country’s fiscal future. When Sarah Palin took the podium in St. Paul to accept her nomination for the vice presidency in September 2008, calm and collected feminists might have recalled the old saw: Be careful what you wish for. Here she was, an ambitious political woman with the sort of egalitarian marriage that would put the Swedes to shame. Here she was, a charismatic, working-class heroine who oozed folksy provincialism with the naturalness of Lyndon Johnson in the same breath as she cheered her Hillary Clintonesque...

SAN ANTONIO — While T-shirts commemorating the 175th anniversary of the legendary battle are now on sale at the Alamo, the star-studded, fireworks-laden concert planned in March has been pre-empted by a state investigation. Alamo marketing director Tony Caridi thought last year that he had corporate sponsors ready to put up $400,000 to stage a free, nationally televised concert for 60,000 people, but none of those backers have since made a firm commitment. As a result, an opportunity to raise $2.5 million in television rights and DVD and merchandise sales to benefit preservation and expansion of the state-owned Alamo site...

John Boehner says Barack Obama disrespected him during tax-cut extension battle. On an appearance on 60 Minutes on Sunday evening, incoming Speaker of the House John Boehner scolded Barack Obama for what he says was the disrespect that the president showed him during the battle over extending all of the Bush-era tax cuts. Specifically, Boenher really disliked the time last week when Obama held a press conference to broadly accuse the GOP of taking the American people hostage over their principled stand to ensure that the Bush tax cuts for all income earners get extended. Initially, when asked to comment...

(WSB Radio) -- Despite the freezing temperatures, hundreds fought for a place in line in Marietta to apply for federal aid to help pay their heat and power bills this winter. Only 30 people were being let in at a time at the assistance center in Marietta. "It was freezing," applicant Linda Benefield told WSB-TV. "I was in line for three hours and 15 minutes, but I needed the help." Some needed even more help just to deal with the cold. The U.S. military is sending a contingent of heavily armored battle tanks to Afghanistan for the first time in the nine-year war, defense officials said, a shift that signals a further escalation in the aggressive tactics that have been employed by American forces this fall to attack the Taliban. The deployment of a company of M1 Abrams tanks, which will be fielded by the Marines in the country's southwest, will allow ground forces to target insurgents from a greater distance - and with more of a lethal punch - than is possible from any other U.S. military vehicle. The 68-ton...
