Mark Twain said a lot of things wittier and funnier. But he never said anything more valuable than this: A man who can read - but does not, has no advantage over a man who cannot read. He'd probably also agree that a nation free to tell itself the truth -but does not, has no advantage over a dictatorship. Media coverage of Iraq these days makes me fear we have become that nation. Some comparisons, please. As North Korean troops and tanks plunged headlong into South Korea in June, 1950 the world communist press from East Berlin to Pyongyang reported...

Pardon the second vanity of the day, but I've been listening to the host filling in for Savage, Barry Farber, and I've been absolutely glued to the radio. What a brain! What a voice! What a gentleman! Michael could certainly take some lessons from Farber. I'm now a fan of his.........just ordered his book, in fact. I'm sure others already know about him, but I just discovered him today. Hope someone else heard him......he's spectacular.

After a lifetime of ridiculing single-issue voters, I've become one. Don't bother me with prescription drugs, Bush's anti-conservative spending habits, the growth of government, and lousy Republican stewardship over the wetlands. We are at war! Dammit, don t you understand? We are at WAR? Just because House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi doesn t feel it (her words, not mine!), that doesn't excuse the rest of us. This war, in spite of all that s gone wrong, is eminently winnable. I see, not just goodness, but glory if American policy succeeds. And, conversely, unending trouble if it doesn't. And I mean...

That’s all the explanation you need to grasp the exultation of the world at the video evidence that America’s hand has been caught in the torture-till. Educated people around the world know that Americans are the “nicest” warriors in history. We’re the ones who dismantle torture chambers; remember? We’re the ones who close those dungeons down. We’re the ones who liberate concentration camps, feed the starving, tend to the ill and dying, teach the kids “candy,” “chewing gum,” and “What’cha know, Joe?” And, if it’s Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower in charge, he’ll march the “non-involved” local folk from their homes...
  • Barry Farber Returns to the Airwaves

Legendary talk radio host Barry Farber has returned to the airwaves on the Talk Radio Network, where his homespun anecdotes and incisive political analysis can be heard every weeknight from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. With his southern manner and "plain old niceness" [as those who know the radio raconteur testify], Farber would probably win a landslide victory in any "Iowa Caucus" of even liberal listeners. But the North Carolina-born talker's conservative credentials are so rock solid that Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, host of the number two radio show in the nation, regularly gives Farber on-air credit for propelling...

A Malignant DictatorBarry FarberWednesday, March 19, 2003 The man in the British newspaper ridicules America for making so much fuss about Saddam Hussein. He thinks comparing Hussein's threat to America with Adolf Hitler's is a thundering absurdity. A truly alarming number of certified intellectual journals, journalists and commentators in too many countries that ought to know better agree. "Saddam isn't even a pale 'Hitler Lite,' " goes the refrain. "Hitler commanded a powerful state in the center of Europe. His armed forces were cutting edge. Hitler had the momentum, the enthusiasts, the financers, the cheerleaders, the cinematic geniuses to enlarge...
