The .22 LR bubble is over. With the Trump Presidency, gun owners are no longer worried that ammunition might be hard to find in the indefinite future. I visited the WalMart in Northern Dallas on the corner of Marsh Lane and Frankford Rd. It has had more ammunition available, at lower prices, than the others I have visited in Arizona and Texas. As seen in the photo, take on December 20, 2017, Federal bulk packs of 550 rounds of 36 grain high velocity .22 Long Rifle cartridges were priced at $19.94. According to my calculator 1994/550 is 3.62 cents...

After having packages repeatedly stolen from his porch, a Tacoma, Washington, man came up with a creative way to deter would-be thieves. At first, Jaireme Barrow installed surveillance cameras. However, he told CNN’s Michael Smerconish on Saturday that no arrests were ever made despite footage of “at least 20” suspected thieves in action. That’s when he decided to take matters into his own hands. His solution? An invention he calls TheBlankBox, which features a loud 12 gauge-shotgun blank. “It’s a blank triggering mechanism, only one moving piece,” Barrow told Smerconish. “Unless you count the guy running off your front porch,...

A Nevada man who sold smoke grenades and military-issued ammunition stolen from the U.S. Air Force has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and two years' probation. U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre says 38-year-old Temogen Tran Noguni of Henderson was sentenced Friday in Las Vegas after pleading guilty in August to one count of unauthorized sale of U.S. property. Two co-defendants previously pleaded guilty to criminal charges in the case, including Jonathan Owens, a 27-year-old staff sergeant at Nellis Air Force Base.

St. Louis city leaders hope that a program to give cash in exchange for guns Saturday will help curb the city’s increasing violence. But experts say gun buybacks — while popular — are ineffective. That doesn’t sway the St. Louis mayor. “Frankly, if we get one, or two, or 10 guns off the street that would have been used in a serious crime, I will consider that a success,” Mayor Lyda Krewson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “There is not one thing that we can do that will solve this. We have to do a lot of different things on...

I have believed that Modern Sporting Rifles would hit an oversupply after the election of President Donald Trump, for some time. Price cuts and sales were a near certainty. I have no knowledge of DEL-TON products. They claim "Mil-Spec" for at least some of the parts. $375 with $8 shipping is very reasonable. Here is the link to the sale site. Minimum wage in the U.S. is now $7.25 per hour, $6.71 after 7.65% is taken out for federal Social Security and Medicare. At that rate, an AR-15 clone is available for 57 hours worth of work at the...

COMMANDMENT I: If You Choose To Carry, Always Carry As Much As Possible Hollywood actors get to see the script beforehand, and nothing is fired at them but blanks. You don’t have either luxury. Criminals attack people in times and places where they don’t think the victims will be prepared for them. It’s what they do. The only way to be prepared to ward off such predators is to always be prepared: i.e., to be routinely armed and constantly ready to respond to deadly threats against you and those who count on you for protection. It’s not about convenience; it’s...

Training for armed self-defense is like preparing for a natural disaster, according to the research of two Oregon State University professors. The researchers set out to understand how Americans who keep and carry handguns for self-defense mitigate the risks involved, such as accidentally shooting oneself, inaccurately identifying a threat or being clumsy. The professors identified ways that handguns owners work to diminish those risks, including through training, mental rehearsing and routine maintenance. The researchers determined that while those efforts mitigate the physical, legal and moral risks associated with using handguns for self-defense, it does not remove all risk. “It’s...

In a show of common sense, no charges were filed against State Representative Lori Saine, R-Firestone. Lori had forgotten that her personal, legal, self-defense firearm was in her carry-on luggage. From thedenverchannel.com: DENVER — The Boulder County District Attorney has decided not to press charges against Colorado State Rep. Lori Saine, R-Firestone, who was arrested December 5 after carrying a loaded gun through security at Denver International Airport. In a statement released Thursday, Boulder District Attorney Stanley Garnett's office said a criminal case against Saine could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and charges “are not appropriate.” She was...

Brian McCombie’s a long-time hunting and outdoor writer, both online and in the dead tree gun mags. Like a lot of us, he got to try out Remington’s new 870 DM magazine-fed shotgun. Part of his evaluation apparently included a successful hunting trip. No doubt wanting to tout their new gun, the people who run Big Green’s social media posted the photo above on their Instagram page. And that caught the attention of some who aren’t fans of hunting. As Mr. McCombie reports on his Facebook page, “One guy calls me bad names and makes a death threat. And...

Gun turn in events, known by the Orwellian term 'buyback' (you cannot buy back what you never owned), have become rare outside of those states which ban private sales. Connecticut requires that every gun sale be granted permission and be registered with the government. New Haven Connecticut is hosting a gun turn in event. From nbcconnecticut.com: The New Haven Police Department gun buyback will be at 710 Sherman Parkway in New Haven, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. People turning in working guns will get gift cards for American Express, Stop & Shop, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s or Amazon...

The case for American exceptionalism is often overstated. It is true that our Constitution, at least when it was written, was a revolutionary document, in both senses of the word: it represented a huge shift in the way that the state was conceived, but also an attempt to free a citizenry from perceived oppression. Because of the unique historical circumstances in which it was written, the Constitution put in place laws that appear to be similarly unique. However, when looked at in a historical perspective, many of these (such as the right to free speech) are unique in extent rather...

Why are civilian disarmament advocates so violent? . . . Gun control advocate pleads guilty to assaulting gun rights activist during election recount The charge stems from an incident that took place last November, during a state Senate race recount at the state archives building on South Fruit Street. Susan Olsen, a prominent gun-rights activist, was volunteering as a Republican observer to watch the recount between incumbent Democrat Andrew Hosmer and Republican Harold French. Olsen claimed that when she asked counters to move ballots closer so she could better see them, (New Hampshire State Rep. Katherine) Rogers, who was...

California ammunition sales are surging as residents rush to beat the January 1, 2018, implementation of new gun controls targeting ammo sales. The incoming controls are the outworking of Proposition 63, passed by voters in 2016. On December 15 Breitbart News reported that California’s war on guns would broaden to include a war on ammo in 2018. These controls include a ban on any ammunition not purchased within the state of California. Moreover, they narrowly define legally purchased ammo as that which is acquired via a licensed dealer in the state. These controls will not only lessen the supply of...

Over 20 years ago in 1996, I was driving to Phoenix, Arizona to catch a flight to Wisconsin. I had the radio on. The news was reporting a horrific bear attack on Mount Lemon, near Tucson, Arizona. A teenage girl had been badly mauled by a bear, in her tent, as part of a 4-H outing.A camp counselor had accessed a handgun and shot the bear, driving it off. As the hours rolled along, the AP stories started getting vaguer and the story less heroic. The Internet wasn't well developed in 1996. It took me several years to track...

Speaking from exile in Brussels, Mr Puigdemont he said he and his government must be allowed to return to Spain where there is currently a warrant out for his arrest. Last week, President Trump signed into law H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (NDAA). Included in the law is a provision long sought by collectors of vintage firearms and militaria that would require military surplus M1911/M1911A1 pistols (1911s) to be made available for sale to the American public. The military currently has some 100,000 excess 1911s sitting in storage at taxpayer expense. A previous version of the NDAA signed into law by then-President Obama in 2015 authorized, but did not require, the Secretary of Defense to transfer up to 10,000 surplus 1911s per year to...
