At the Ranch in Arizona, I keep water trickling for a water hole. The latest “Injury Facts” report from the National Safety Council shows accidental firearm deaths in 2015 were the lowest they have been in any year since 1903. During the opening day of confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, Sen. EW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Many more people applied for gun permits last year than the year before. According to the Norwich Bulletin, there was a 73 percent jump during that period. Some believe it’s partly because of last year’s presidential election. The paper reports the increase was for pistol permit applications from 2015 to 2016. The reason is fear…but not fear of violence and crime. The best guess is that all those people suddenly wanted guns because they were afraid of Democrats. On March 15th, 2017, the Florida State Attorney's Office released a video of Ashad Russell, a Florida resident with a concealed handgun permit, fatally shooting another man, Edward Strother, who was attacking a Lee County, Florida Sheriff Deputy Dean Bardes. Prosecutors had cleared Russell of criminal charges on February 15th, 2017. The shooting was found justified because the deputy's life was determined to be in danger.
