The 40 Days for Life Campaign starts next Wednesday, September 24th and runs through November 2nd. Spanish researchers have developed a gourmet sausage made from baby poop. Yes, baby poop. More specifically, they’ve used a strain of bacteria derived from infant feces. Writing in the journal Meat Science, the scientists described how they took 43 fecal samples from infant diapers provided by parent and midwife volunteers. Using three strains of probiotic bacteria they isolated from the dirty diapers, the investigators cooked up several batches of pork that resembled a type of fermented Mediterranean sausage known as feut. Having a Democratic president in the United States is linked with a reduction in infant mortality rates, according to a controversial new study. The Food and Drug Administration is laying out new requirements to ensure the safety of infant formula. The rules announced Thursday are designed to make sure that formula manufacturers test their products for salmonella and other pathogens before they are distributed. They would also require formula companies to include specific nutrients, including proteins, fats and vitamins.
