House Bill 2368, introduced by Republican Representative Bob Thorpe of Flagstaff, Arizona, was passed this Wednesday by the Arizona House. House Bill 2368 seeks to bar the state of Arizona from funding any executive orders issued by President Obama, or policy directives issued by the Department of Justice. According to the Arizona State Legislature website, the bill includes the following provisions: "1. Prohibits this state or any of its political subdivisions from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with an executive order issued by the President of the U.S. that has not been affirmed by...

Computers, cellphones and landlines in Arizona were knocked out of service for hours, ATMs stopped working, 911 systems were disrupted and businesses were unable to process credit-card transactions — all because vandals sliced through a fiber-optic Internet cable buried in the rocky desert. The Internet outage did more than underscore just how dependent modern society has become on high technology.

Arizona state Senator, Dr. Kelli Ward, added an amendment to a bill on restoration of civil rights. The amendment would remove several obsolete and arcane weapons bans. The bill, SB 1460, would add second amendment rights to civil rights that are restored when a person who had been convicted of a felony petitions a court for restoration of their rights. From havasunews.com: Her amendment to SB 1460 legalizes devices "made or adapted to muzzle the report of a firearm.'' Also gone would be prohibitions against any rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches, with...

Arizona representatives have introduced a bill to require 'gun free zones' in public buildings to have teeth.  If the public officials are not willing to insure that the buildings actually prevent people from bringing guns into them, then people who are licensed to carry concealed weapons will not be required to disarm, merely by 'gun free' signs. The theory is simple. Mere signage will not stop people who have evil intent from carrying concealed weapons into public buildings.  By placing signage, but without significant enforcement mechanisms, the signs effectively screen out the most law abiding, while doing little to...

An Arizona lawmaker has submitted a trio of bills that call for expanded background checks on private gun transfers and limits on firearm use by youth under 14. The legislation includes two measures, HB 2118 and HCR 2009, that would criminalize the private transfer of firearms by requiring all private transfers to be conducted through a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL). The third, HB2371, would restrict the use of any autoloading firearm by a shooter under the age of 14 years old.

by John Urban | TopRight News A potentially disastrous security breach by the Pentagon was discovered by sheriff's deputies during a routine traffic stop in Southern Arizona. Pinal County deputies stopped a 2006 Ford Expedition for a traffic violation. The Mexican national initially presented an Arizona Identification Card, in the name of Armando Villalobos of Phoenix. A records check revealed that not only did the illegal alien have no driver's license, but there were outstanding felony warrants for his arrest in Texas. The suspect eventually told the deputy that his real name was in fact Mario Bustamante, 37, and that he was in...

Scare at the Sub Base GROTON -- Police and fire units have set up a perimeter at the Groton Sub Base. Bomb-sniffing dogs have been also called out to the scene. Navy authorities are providing very limited information as to what happened Monday morning. Crystal Lake Avenue and the military highway road along the river have been blocked off by local police. This provides access to Gate #1 where the incident involving a truck took place. A spokesperson for the sub base tells Eyewitness news that at 6:30 a.m. Monday a Navy dog trained to sniff for explosives sensed something...

John McCain is the quintessential enemy from within on the right. I am long past the argument of honoring his service to this country. He served his country long ago with distinction, now he’s serving it on a platter to the Communists. At every turn he has betrayed America in recent years. Just two words describe the good he has done this country: Sarah Palin and she is Tea Party. Now, in an act of political cleansing, McCain has set about to gut the Arizona GOP of Tea Party riff-raff using an Obama San Francisco donor. How richly appropriate for...

McDonald’s and its franchisees illegally retaliated against employees for participating in union-related activities, the National Labor Relations Board’s top lawyer alleged Friday in a case with sweeping industry implications. NLRB general counsel Richard Griffin announced Friday he will issue 13 complaints involving 78 charges against franchises and McDonald’s USA, LLC. Though many of these alleged labor violations were committed by independent franchise owners, Griffin ruled earlier this year that McDonald’s can be held liable for those actions as a so-called joint employer, leaving the corporatrion — and potentially other franchisors — exposed to such claims. McDonald’s said the decision will...

In Tacna, Arizona, I saw this fellow openly carrying what appears to be a stainless Colt Mustang in .380. I asked, and he said that he had served in the Marine Corps, as indicated by the tattoo. He was driving the four-wheeler, which can be licensed for dual use, on and off road, in Arizona, a capability not available in many Eastern states. Notice the folding, lockback pocket knife clipped in his front right pocket for ease of access, one handed opening, and safe use while the blade is locked. It is a snapshot of freedom that has been...

My favorite restaurant in Yuma is the Yummy Yummy at 2241 Avenue A. It is in the corner of the strip mall and easy to miss. It isn't a fancy place, rather utilitarian, with ridiculously low prices and excellent food. The service is good, but as the place is litterally a mom and pop (the mother speaks English, Spanish, and Chinese fluently), do not expect to have her hovering over your table. For the cost of a drink at most bars, you can get a complete meal, if you drink water. They have $5 specials that are always available,...

Earlier this week, I climbed a mountain. It is a locally popular way for people to get some exercise and a nice view. As usual, I was openly carrying a Glock 17. I carry primarily for political purposes, so I wore a "Gun Guy" hat given to me by Dan Baum at the Shot Show a couple of years ago. Another reason is that it can get windy on the mountain, and I have had broader brimmed hats blown off. As I arrived at the top, a pair of young ladies asked me to take their picture, to commemorate...

Five congressional seats in three states remain too close to call or undecided. They are: Arizona 2nd: GOP Challenger Martha McSally leads incumbent Ron Barber by 179 votes. California 7th: GOP Challenger Doug Ose leads incumbent Ami Bera by 530 votes. California 16th: GOP Challenger Johnny Tacherra leads incumbent Jim Costa by 741 votes. Louisiana 5th: Single Democrat candidate Jamie Mayo leads with 28% of the total, but has an uphill climb against a crowded GOP field who garnered 69%. The leader was Ralph Abraham with 23%, who seems all but certain to win the December 2nd run-off. Louisiana 6th:...

Oracle Sycamore Canyon Academy, Oracle, AZ was the site for protest, when the feds tried to bus in illegal juveniles, some purported to be members of Central American gangs, like MS-13, as part of the mass relocation of foreign minors. During that dust up, the transport did not happen, but later this summer the transfer was made secretly, and without notice of the press or public. This is my paraphrasing of the interview local conservative talk show host, Garrett Lewis had with Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeau had to update this incident and reflect the changes in the community. http://www.knst.com/media/podcast-morning-ritual-interviews-interviews/paul-babeu-november-11-2014-25552848/...

Leftovers: A roundup of uncalled races By: Kevin Robillard November 6, 2014 02:28 PM EST More than 36 hours after the last polls closed, two statewide races in Alaska, the Virginia Senate race and a slew of West Coast House races have yet to be called. Here’s how things stand:THE HOUSEAZ-2: Highly touted Republican recruit Martha McSally leads Democratic Rep. Ron Barber by just under 1,300 votes. The Arizona Republic reports that only a few thousand votes remain uncounted in Cochise County, while 47,000 votes still need to be counted in Democrat-friendly Pima County.CA-7: Former GOP Rep. Doug Ose has...

I did not have an NRA hat, so I used the Gun Guy hat that I was given at the Shot Show. No one blinked or so much as suggested that it was inappropriate. Of course, this was Arizona. If I-594 wins in Washington, we will see an assualt on our rights here by billionaires working hard to buy an election by misinforming low information voters. I have seen it happen before. If people do not know much about an issue, they can easily be swayed by slick ads. The old media has been a powerful force in moving...

Pro-Second Amendment Congressional candidate Martha McSally (R-AZ-2) leads pro-gun control incumbent Ron Barber (D-AZ-2) by 36 points in Arizona's District 2 race, but a "glitch" in a voting machine has momentarily stalled the vote count.
