A stunning update on Friday afternoon from the Associated Press said the Pentagon is investigating possible Russian participationin the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons attack. These officials also supported the dire suspicion that nearby hospitals were attacked to cover up evidence of the WMD deployment: The officials say Russia has failed to control the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons. They say a drone belonging either to Russia or Syria was seen hovering over the site of the chemical weapons attack Tuesday after it happened. The drone returned late in the day as citizens were going to a nearby hospital for treatment....

There is a predictable disconnect amid political followers who have not paid close attention to the direct Mid-East visitors to the Donald Trump White House regarding the origin of the chemical weapons use in Syria. Focusing on who used chemical weapons is a moot point in the larger issue of the Syrian conflict. It doesn’t matter whether ISIS “rebels” deployed them or whether Bashir Assad used them against the “rebels” when contemplating President Trump’s response to stop using them. The victims are Syrians. The regional alliance members don’t care who used them. The message is to stop.

The US ambassador to the UN has said America is 'prepared to do more' militarily in Syria but hopes it will not be necessary. Speaking at a bad-tempered emergency UN Security Council meeting, Nikki Haley said Syrian President Bashar al Assad felt he could get away with using chemical weapons against his own people 'because he knew Russia would have his back'. 'That changed last night,' she said, referring to US cruise missile strikes on a Syrian government airbase in retaliation for a poison gas attack allegedly by Assad's regime which killed 80 people, including children.

ISIS jihadis have reportedly launched an attack on a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) base just 20 miles away from the air base targeted by US president Donald Trump. Trump’s strikes saw 59 Tomahawk missiles rain down on the airbase – believed to have been used for chemical weapon attacks by the Syrian government which killed at least 80 people. ISIS, also known as Daesh, has attempted to take advantage of the chaos caused by the President’s strikes, launching a powerful offensive on a military base in Al Furqlus, pro-Syrian news site Al-Masdar claimed. Homs governor Talal Barazi claimed the airbase...

I have mixed thoughts on the US cruise missile strike on the Syrian airfield last night. These thoughts are going to appear all over the map but given the situation in the Middle East, that seems unavoidable: • There can be no doubt that Syria’s armed forces launched the sarin attack that prompted the US cruise missile strike. The excuse that the Syrians and Russians gave that Al Nusra moved a sarin lab into the area and an air strike inadvertently released the chemicals is absurd. Sarin would burn off in such a strike and would not be dispersed in...

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has fiercely rebuked U.S. President Donald Trump for authorizing airstrikes against a government airbase in Syria. The comment appeared on Medvedev’s Facebook page. The Moscow Times has translated the text into English: “That’s it. The last of the campaign fog has disappeared. Instead of the theory he disseminated about working together to fight the main enemy — ISIS, the Islamic State — the Trump administration has proved that it will viciously fight the legitimate government of Syria — in blatant violation of the norms of international law, without the approval of the UN, violating [the...

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has asked Speaker Paul Ryan to call the House back in session immediately to begin debate on an Authorization of the Use of Military Force for any further action in Syria. She sent him the following letter on Friday urging him to disrupt the two-week recess.

You haven't been yourself lately. You changed man and are acting erratic. You campaigned against what you're doing now in Syria. You backed down against unconstitutional judges when you were acting within your lawful duty. You promised to repeal ObamaCare then you suddenly tried to sell us OC2. We didn't want a personality for president, we wanted the constitution for president. And it looked like we had it for a few weeks. But you're ruining Christmas! President Trump, we hardly knew ye. Please bring daddy back.

The Pentagon released a map Thursday that reportedly shows the flight pattern of a Syrian aircraft that dropped chemical weapons on civilians Tuesday. The map was released hours after President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to fire 59 Tomahawk missiles at a northern Syrian airbase, in retaliation for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s attack.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that “steps are underway” on an international coalition to pressure Syria’s Bashar Assad from power, as President Trump was being briefed on military options for Syria – though what specific steps the U.S. and its allies might take in response to the latest deadly chemical weapons attack remained unclear. America’s top diplomat addressed the Syria crisis a day after Trump declared in the Rose Garden that the chemical strike would not be tolerated. Tillerson pointedly said Russia should “consider carefully” its support for the Assad regime, while calling for an international effort to...

Shortened title. Full title: Syria's government was supposed to have gotten rid of its chemical weapons in 2014. So what happened? There’s a mystery at the heart of an apparent chemical weapons attack in Syria this week: Syria’s government, suspected of carrying out the attack, was supposed to have gotten rid of all its chemical weapons in 2014. A year earlier, President Obama said Syria had crossed a “red line” by allegedly using sarin gas near Damascus and Aleppo, killing at least 100 to 150 people. But rather than take military action, Obama agreed to a Russian deal to dismantle...

Full Title: How Trump unleashed awesome Mediterranean arsenal on Assad: Tomahawk missiles launched from US destroyers 150 miles away with pinpoint accuracy without endangering American pilots or enraging neighbouring allies ....If President Donald Trump decides to launch more strikes against Syrian regime targets, the Pentagon has many ways with which to do so. Any strike against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is likely to be conducted remotely to avoid putting US pilots in harm's way. In September 2014, US ships launched 47 Tomahawk missiles during the first night of strikes against ISIS in Syria. These missiles can also...

WASHINGTON, April 6, 2017 — The United States fired Tomahawk missiles into Syria today in retaliation for the regime of Bashar Assad using nerve agents to attack his own people. President Donald J. Trump ordered the attack on Al-Shayrat Air Base, the base from which the chemical attack on Syria’s Idlib province was launched. The missiles were launched from U.S. Navy ships in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi broke with fellow Democrats who had criticized President Trump's military action against Syria to endorse the move late Thursday. "Making sure Assad knows that when he commits such despicable atrocities he will pay a price is the right thing to do," Schumer said in a statement released late Thursday. "I salute the professionalism and skill of our Armed Forces who took action today." "Tonight's strike in Syria appears to be a proportional response to the the regime's use of chemical weapons," Pelosi said in a statement.

A Government spokesperson said: “Overnight, the US has taken military action against the Syrian regime, targeting the airfield in Shayrut which was used to launch the chemical weapons attack earlier this week. “The UK Government fully supports the US action, which we believe was an appropriate response to the barbaric chemical weapons attack launched by the Syrian regime, and is intended to deter further attacks.” The news comes after the US launched 59 Tomahawk missiles on a Syrian airfield in a show of power against Bashar al-Assad. In a statement, President Trump said: “Tonight I ordered a targeted military strike...

CNN anchor Kate Bolduan was flabbergasted after Representative Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) questioned a recent chemical gas attack in Syria, then said it wouldn’t be in President Bashar Assad’s interest to conduct such a strike on his own people. Bolduan interviewed Massie, a tea party darling and member of the House Freedom Caucus, about the US response to the reported chlorine gas attack on civilians in Syria that killed more than 80 people, including children.... ...Massie cautions that American intervention might make the situation on the ground worse, then notes that “the first casualty of war is the truth.” “It’s hard...

Leave it to MSNBC anchor and serial liar Brian Williams to step in it on night of breaking news. On Thursday night after the U.S. military fired over 50 missiles at a Syrian military base, Williams whined about the cost of the missiles and complained that it endangered Americans. Williams was speaking to NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel when he suggested they “look at it in brass tax terms” because “we just spent $30 million tonight.” Additionally, he complained that the operation “endangered in launching these things, as you know, every time one of these clears the tube...
