A Government spokesperson said: “Overnight, the US has taken military action against the Syrian regime, targeting the airfield in Shayrut which was used to launch the chemical weapons attack earlier this week.
“The UK Government fully supports the US action, which we believe was an appropriate response to the barbaric chemical weapons attack launched by the Syrian regime, and is intended to deter further attacks.”
The news comes after the US launched 59 Tomahawk missiles on a Syrian airfield in a show of power against Bashar al-Assad.
In a statement, President Trump said: “Tonight I ordered a targeted military strike on the military airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched.
“It is in the vital national security interests of the United States to prevent the spread and use of chemical weapons.
"There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention, and ignored the urging of the U.N. Security Council."

We are not going to take Assad out. Are you kidding me. This was a quit your crap kid and a demonstration of the big stick for the rest of the brats. Trump took out the small airbase where they store their chem weapons. It was a chess move. He took their queen and put them in check.

Something Obama could easily have done at any point, but didn’t. Instead he just let this Syria mess fester, with no constraints on any side of the conflict.
With thenwar winding down (defeat of ISIS), the next phase is to get rid of Assad. The justification will be this “attack” with chemical weapons.
Did you notice the other day that France seized all the properties of Assad’s uncle? That means that things have begun.
But, who does the West want in power - that’s the question.
I just hope that the replacememt of Assad means that the “refugees” will be sent home.
