“Let’s face it: I’ve been a thorn in leadership’s side,” says Arizona Republican Rep. Matt Salmon, sitting at his desk in the Rayburn House Office Building. Earlier that day, Salmon had just been named by Speaker John Boehner to a special “working group” on the crisis at the southern U.S. border, where tens of thousands of unaccompanied children are streaming into the country with hopes that President Obama will grant them amnesty. Salmon is the most conservative member of the new group, and his selection by Boehner is surprising, to say the least, given that the Arizonan has been a...

A post-election survey found that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's (R-VA) support for amnesty legislation influenced a majority of voters who ousted him last week in Virginia's seventh congressional district primary that blindsided the mainstream media and rocked establishment Washington.
  • Republican Congressman Proposes Bill To Block Obama Illegal Alien Deportation Policy

(The Hill) -- Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) on Monday proposed legislation that would block enforcement of President Obama's new policy of letting certain illegal immigrants request temporary relief from deportation. Schweikert's bill would specifically prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from allowing that relief, which Obama described on Friday as an option for up to 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally at a young age. Schweikert said his bill would prevent Obama from "dictating" immigration law from the White House.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom some pundits had written off as the GOP's nominee, may find a second coming in Iowa, if new poll data holds up. As Mitt Romney's campaign has suffered a startling decline in recent weeks, only to see Newt Gingrich eclipse the former Massachusetts governor's front-runner status, the battle for the Iowa caucuses set for Jan. 3 has become a wide-open race. New survey data prepared for the Perry campaign and shared by a source close within the campaign shows that the Texas governor may be poised to do much better in next month’s Iowa caucuses...

More than 50 Anti-Amnesty tea party rallies were held across the nation this past weekend. The events were put together by Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), but NumbersUSA played a role in the events held in Alexandria, Va. and Pasadena, Calif. High unemployment rates, overpopulation, and declining public services motivated grassroots activists to attend one of the many tea parties. In Alexandria, protesters stood outside of Rep. Jim Moran's (D-Va.) district office, fighting against any amnesty plans from Congress. "If the situation continues as it is, we are powerless unless we speak out like this," an attendee said. "Cut off...

....... a stunning 83-16 in favor of a reinforced fence along the Mexico border yesterday....showed that lawmakers are feeling get-tough winds blowing from the grass roots. Even 2008 presidential prospects like Sens. Clinton and Kerry voted for the 370-mile fence, and several Democrats who first voted no switched nervously to yes. "Voters are very clear that they want the situation at the border addressed first," said independent pollster Scott Rasmussen, who's found huge enforcement-first majorities in 33 states he polled. "The real debate isn't about what to do with the illegal aliens who are already here," Rasmussen said. "It's about...
