Thank you for all those who prayed for me! To recap, my company was either going to close shop or fire half of crew: https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3739606/posts Things dragged on a bit and the job was to last a bit longer while job searching. Now things look better and I can stay for another 1-1.5 years if I wanted. However, I took another job offer which pays a bit less but I can sleep better at night. I think I'll face the same situation next year or the one after. The company is not well run and the co-workers are slackers/low performers....

My wife was released Monday from the Rehab hospital to come home and already the past two days have been full of our share of challenges and successes and many a small thing inbetween. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and please keep them coming as she still has a long road ahead of her.

For almost a century, Minka Disbrow tried to find out what became of the baby girl she gave up for adoption after being raped as a teenager. She hoped, but never imagined, that she would see her daughter Betty Jane again. Her only connection to the child was a black and white photograph of the baby bundled up in blankets shortly after she was born. Then in 2006, Mrs Disbrow, who turned 100 years old at the end of last month, received a call from Brian Lee who turned out to be her grandson. He then asked if she'd like...

I finally managed to close on, and sell my old house! As many ( too many) people on FR know, I was about frantic with worry over this for months. Many, many FRiends gave me comfort, prayer, wise advice, the occasional giggle, and a shoulder to moan on. (Thanks, you guys. I would not have made it without the Canteen and the Undead Thrread!) It's been a strange and scary year, and now I am done with the mayhem, just in time for Christmas! THANK YOU ALL!

Psalm 5: 11-12But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your Name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early. Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long. He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his...

"My Liver Doctor is wonderful. I've had the same specialist for over 10 years. We do an Ultra Sound and a Cat Scan once a year. It works out to be one every six months. Last week was the Cat Scan. This morning my Liver Doctor called to say there was a Lesion on my Liver. Thankfully Art was home with me, because to be honest, this really knocked the wind out of me. I guess I had gotten used to them always being negative. My biggest fear has been the big "CA" of the Liver. That is why we...

Kaye Young, left, kisses Jennifer Skiver, the wife of another helicopter pilot, after a news conference at the Young home in Lithia Springs, Ga. To the family of former prisoner of war Ronald D. Young Jr., his rescue Sunday was an answer to prayer and fasting, and not just by their LDS ward members. "There were so many people praying for him, I don't see how it could possibly go any other way," said Ronald D. Young Sr., his dad, interviewed by telephone at their home in Lithia Springs, Ga. "Today was the best day of my life." For...

Tonight at my university Catholic Center, I presided over a Prayer Service for the Men and Women of our Military and their families. Our opening hymn was "How Great Thou Art," followed by an opening prayer, Ecclesiastes 3:1-12, a Sung version of Psalm 23, and Romans 14:7-13, 18-19, 22. After the readings, a soldier's recollection of Fr. Emil J. Kapaun, a Korean War Martyr. Then sang "How Can I keep From Singing," then lifted up Intercessions, followed by a silent reflection. Then sang "Jesus, Give Us Strength," read Psalm 34. We then read the names of all the fallen soldiers...
