The U.S. Army is taking the expression “get the lead out” quite literally and switching to lead-free, environmentally-friendly bullets. The Army’s Picatinny Arsenal is working on a “green” version of the M80A1 7.62 mm bullet, which troops are supposed to start being issued in 2014, according to an Army press release. The Army has been looking to “green” small caliber ammo for some time now. In 2010, the Army switched to the greener 5.56 mm M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round. “The EPR replaces the lead slug with a copper slug,” said Lt. Col. Phil Clark, product manager for small caliber ammunition...

Last night a man in his 60's lucked out and was able to buy several boxes of ammo at the sporting goods store. On the way home he stopped at the 7-Eleven gas station where this drop-dead gorgeous younger blonde was filling up her car at the pump next to his. She glanced at the ammo boxes in the back of his Jeep and said in a very seductive voice, "I'm a big believer in barter, old timer. Would you be interested in trading sex for ammo?" The old guy thought a few seconds and asked, "What kinda ammo ya...

For the benefit of anybody who may not have figured this one out yet... Not that there is any shortage of middle class people who are into shotgun sports... But shotgun sports (trap, skeet, sporting clays) ARE in fact also a major hobby of the rich. Were team Obama/Holder to touch or appear to be playing any sort of games with shotshell ammo, I would assume that a significant number of the fat-cats who fund the dem party, not to mention dem pols themselves, would come down on them like a ton of bricks. Decent shotguns start around $1000 and...

Can somebody please give me the latest scoop on buying ammo? Somebody around here always has good info. Just after Newtown, I went to the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly, VA and got 4,000 round of 9mm and .45. By the way, don't blame me as a "panic buyer;" for the past 8 years, that's been my usual buy at the NGS. Prics were up by only 1 penny per round, and there was ammo to be had. Now, I'm down to my last 65 rounds, and I'm beginning to freak. The prices at DAG Ammo actually DROPPED last week,...

<p>Tucson Gun Rights Examiner Chris Woodard alerted readers Friday to some of the most recently introduced federal gun bills (both anti-rights and pro-rights). In fact, his Constitution Watch blog is a great resource for keeping current on pending federal gun legislation. Today, we will focus on Representative Jackie Speier's (D-CA) H.R. 2566, the "Modernized Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act of 2013."</p>

PHOENIX, AZ --(Ammoland.com)- I haven’t seen anything that suggests foul play of any kind, to me, it’s strictly supply and demand, and it shows you what panic in a market looks like. Rationing and price spikes are the result of demand far outstripping supply. Sure, government ammo purchases should give you pause, it’s the reason we’re all armed. A trusted source provided this: “Take for example .22LR ammunition. The industry as a whole (all manufacturers combined) is setup to produce 4,200,000,000 (4.2 Billions) .22 LR annually. That is running all the machines, full capacity all the time, all manufacturers together....

full title....Company comes out with new pork-laced ammunition they believe will keep Muslims from going to heavenA company in Dalton Gardens, Idaho has developed a new line of pork-laced bullets they hope will be used to fight back against Islamic terrorists. South Fork Industries created the bullets, which they call Jihawg Ammo, so they can be used as a 'defensive deterrent to those who violently act in the name of Islam.' They took traditional ammo and coated the bullets in a pork-infused paint. Those shot with the bullets would be unclean, as the Islamic religious forbids Muslims from coming into...

AMMO: Cross Section Photos of Bullets Used During WWII In October of 2012, LA-based photographer Sabine Pearlman found herself ensconced in a Swiss WWII bunker photographing 900 different “specimens” of cross sectioned ammunition. Her resulting photo series, AMMO, shows the beauty and craftsmanship that went into creating these destructive little pieces of engineering. Pearlman “strives to create a poetry of images by synergizing the ‘big picture’ with the small details.” Insofar as her AMMO series is concerned, that means the juxtaposition of beauty and destruction. The photos themselves are fascinating to look at, but the series is meant to evoke...

DALTON GARDENS, Idaho --(Ammoland.com)- Jihawg Ammo today announced release of the industry’s first truly defensive ammunition. Not only does Jihawg guarantee that all of their ammunition meets or exceeds S.A.A.M.I. standards for velocity, penetration, and accuracy, they also coat each projectile with a special ballistic paint infused with pork to make it “Haraam” or unclean to a radical Jihadist. This makes Jihawg Ammo the only commercially available ammunition with the added deterrent factor of eternal damnation for fundamentalist Islamic Jihadist. Now Americans can defend themselves, their families, their communities, and their country from Muslim terrorists. Jihawg Ammo is the first product...

New “Jihawg” ammunition claims to offer gun owners a “peaceful and natural deterrent” to the growing threat of radical Islam. How? By putting pork in its ammo to make it “unclean” for radical Islamists. “Jihadists fear being defiled by pork, especially during Jihad,” the company’s website says. “Jihawg ammunition is Haraam or unclean to the Jihadist. So when you hear the radical battle cry- “allahu akbar!” It’s time to put some ham in MoHAMed.”

While many individuals have looked at precious metals for moderate gains and even some losses over the last year, the combination of base metals like lead and brass have seen an incredible return--particularly when those base metals are combined to form .22 ammunition. Think about it--from one year ago until now, .22 ammunition is up over 400%. It was approximately $21 to $23 per 500 rounds in May 2012, and it's now $100 to $135 for 500 rounds. .22 ammunition has been easy to find and cheap to buy for decades. For this reason, .22 rifles and pistols have long...

The House late Wednesday voted to stop the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from entering into new contracts to buy millions of rounds of ammunition until the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports to Congress on the need for the ammo, and its cost. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) proposed an amendment to the DHS spending bill for 2014 that would require the report to Congress before it can pursue plans to buy 1.1 billion rounds of ammunition. Meadows said the speed bump is a necessary reaction to news of the huge purchase, which alarmed many Americans and prompted conservative groups...

Why one cop carries 145 rounds of ammo on the job Before the call that changed Sergeant Timothy Gramins’ life forever, he typically carried 47 rounds of handgun ammunition on his person while on duty. Today, he carries 145, “every day, without fail.” He detailed the gunfight that caused the difference in a gripping presentation at the annual conference of the Assn. of SWAT Personnel-Wisconsin. .related-content-container span p {font-size: 13px; font-family: Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;} .h2_sidebars_article { background:none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; border-color: #18347B; border-style:none none solid; border-width:medium medium 3px; color:#000000; font-size:15px; font-weight:700; margin-bottom:10px; margin-top:0; padding-bottom:1px; text-align:left; white-space: nowrap;} At the core...

Why is there such a shortage of ammunition? Is the FedGov buying it all up so that we can’t get any? When will this ammo crisis end? When and where can you find reasonably priced ammunition in the Bryan/College Station area? The Department of Homeland Security recently put in a five year order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. The government contracts provide that Uncle Sam has priority to be supplied first and this allows the government at any time over that five year period to play havoc with the supply of ammunition. There have been calls from prominent Republicans...
