Heard on the James T Harris radio show today that Tucson's 20 X 30 foot giant American Flag at Quebedeaux Mitsubishi here in Tuscon on Speedway was burned at 4:30 in the morning sometime this weekend by vandal protesters who got away - for now. They did severe damage to the pole and left a huge pile of ashes on the sidewalk. The family has flown a big flag at their car lot since 1958. The arson squad was summoned and examined the scene. I'm assuming this is part of Antifa's big resistance weekend. Quebedeaux Mitsubishi was astounded by the...

Shalane Flanagan became the first American woman to win the New York City Marathon on Sunday since 1977, pulling away from Mary Keitany in the last three miles of the race for her first major marathon victory. Keitany had won three straight New York marathons, but Flanagan pulled away from the Kenyan great with about three miles to go and finished with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, 53 seconds, about a minute faster than Keitany. The last American woman to win New York was Miki Gorman, who won consecutive titles in 1976-77.

This is a vlog from one of my favorite contemporary philosophers, Baxter Black. I am posting it both to share some inspiration and to point to how fast the political tides are changing our country. Please enjoy this 2:30 video and see if you notice the two major shifts in our culture that have taken place in 9 short years since this was done in 2008

Long-haul truckers, who spend weeks on end working and sleeping in spaces the size of a modest suburban bathroom, say life on the road does have its monastic charms. Cooking dinner at 70 miles an hour has never been one of them. ... Trucker-chefs swap recipes online and compete in virtual contests like the “Chopped Challenge” run by Big Truck Cooking, a 12,600-member Facebook group whose recent contest entries include slow-cooked Thai peanut pork and skillet shepherd’s pie.

Turkey's descent into Islamist despotism distorts the NATO alliance: how can Turkey combat a external threat from without, Daniel Pipes asked, when a member state poses the same threat from within? No one tells us what we can say. We are a free people, and we will act in complete freedom. – Daniel Pipes, President, Middle East Forum (MEF) The purging of 120,000 government employees following last year's failed coup means that "more police counter-terrorism experts are in prison than ISIS members." A democratic Turkey is a must for NATO, both for the alliance's success and for Turkey itself. –...

ARLINGTON, Texas - Six Flags Over Texas had a change of heart and took down the Confederate States of America flag at the park in Arlington. Since it opened in 1961, the park has displayed flags for governments of Texas history: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the U.S. and the Confederate States of America. The amusement park initially said it would continue to fly a version of the Confederate flag despite the recent push to wipe out such symbols. Park officials told TMZ it felt park patrons were “astute enough to know the difference†between the Confederate States...

A comparison of health systems in 11 wealthy nations has found the US falling short by multiple measures, while the UK’s National Health Service leads in several categories. “We measured performance quality across five domains, and the USA fell short in all five,” says Eric Schneider of the Commonwealth Fund think tank in Washington DC. The domains were ease of access to healthcare, how equal access is to people of different incomes, administrative efficiency, how well the care process works for people who use it, and how good the health outcomes are. The analysis included data from sources including the...

Love him or hate him, we can sleep a little easier that President Trump is our President; we pray for his safety and his family’s, and we thank God every day that, for the next four years, we are in good, America-loving hands On any given day, our president fights hard to do what is right for our country, to strengthen our economy, to create jobs, to fix the ailing infrastructure, to repair the dismal Obamacare, and to represent the American people’s interests, all Americans, on the world stage. Never has one American president been so vilified by the left...

So long as Republicans stick to their talking points and carefully selected allocutions, there's enough double talk, flimflam, and amphibology that a listener might think there's sense there. Or at least that the speakers think so. But then there are the unfiltered utterances. It is from these that real revelations come. Republican congressman Raul R Labrador, for example, declared: "Nobody dies because they don't have healthcare." Of course not. And no one gets cold because they don't have a coat, and cars don't crash when their brakes don't work. He later tried to walk his talk back toward reason-world. "I...

Legendary Shack Shakers - Blood on the Blue Grass Way down south in a Kentuck' town Where all of the stubble fields grow One boy did rise with the devil in his eyes Whose heart was dark as Westfield coal Heart was dark as Westfield coal Roderick Ferrell and the Wendorf girl Knelt down upon a darkened grave He drew his dagger down and the red ran to the ground And they licked along the bloody blade Licked along the bloody blade Blood-red blood on the blue, blue grass It cries from hallowed hunting ground 'Twas the midnight curse of...

Totalitarian leftist state: Lapses back into an opium dream of Marxists sitting around a kitchen table and debating whom to shoot first. It’s inconceivable that the New York Times or any paper would run a glowing piece titled, “When Nazis Inspired Americans.” No fond recollections from participants in the Madison Square Garden rally. No fond memories of Bund camps. No sugar-coated recollections of how the Thousand Year Reich would create a better world… only to then learn that Hitler wasn’t a very nice man. But the New York Times will run “When Communism Inspired Americans.” It will run it because...

DEERFIELD, MI - Members of American Legion Post 392 will host their 16th annual Testicle Festival on Saturday, March 18, offering savory options to patrons, such as cattle testicles and chicken gizzards. The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., typically draws a good crowd, according to Legion member Al Rau. "We usually get anywhere from 1,500 up to 2,000 people throughout the day," Rau said. "They come and go." Rau said the origins of the Testicle Festival trace back to a farmer who used to bring the delicacies to town with him twice a year and...

Session #1 of "The Silencing of God" seminar introduces the sinister attempt to expunge manifestations of God, Christ, and the Bible from American life--in direct and stark contradiction to the original intentions of the Founders and Framers. The United States of America is undergoing swift transition as the forces of “political correctness” wage a vociferous culture war. Activist judges, secularist educators, morally bankrupt entertainers, and liberal politicians have teamed up to sell a sanitized version of America’s past. Their objective? To expunge every manifestation of God, Christ, and the Bible from American life. What has been the result of their...

Former President Bill Clinton on Thursday warned against the rising popularity of nationalism across the world. “People who claim to want the nation-state are actually trying to have a pan-national movement to institutionalize separatism and division within borders all over the world,” Clinton said at a Brookings Institution event in Washington, D.C., according to Politico. ...Clinton did not mention President Trump in his remarks, his first public appearance since his wife, Hillary Clinton, lost last year’s White House race to Trump.

An “antiracist” poster in a college writing center insists American grammar is “racist” and an “unjust language structure,” promising to prioritize rhetoric over “grammatical ‘correctness.'” The poster, written by the director, staff, and tutors of the University of Washington, Tacoma’s Writing Center, states “racism is the normal condition of things,” declaring that it permeates rules, systems, expectations, in courses, school and society. “Linguistic and writing research has shown clearly for many decades that there is no inherent ‘standard’ of English,” proclaims the writing center’s statement. “Language is constantly changing. These two facts make it very difficult to justify placing people...
