First of all, much to the dismay of many, I did not die tonight. Secondly, I've seen these funeral threads before where people mourn the FReeper and talk about what they meant to them (and more than a few FReepers who celebrate the death). But what's the point of that? Does the dead FReeper know anything, or see any of the kind or crass remarks about them? No. Pointless. We should have these sort of threads BEFORE they die. So that's why I'm doing my obituary thread tonight. Plus, there is the added advantage of me knowing the exact date...

A new report shows that more than a third of Americaâs nuclear-powered attack submarines are idle. According to a Congressional Research Service report released July 6, 18 of the 49 submarines â or 37 percent â are being repaired or waiting for repairs. The report said that is far above the Navyâs goal of 20 percent. During the first year of the Biden administration, the figure was also at 37 percent before dipping to 33 percent in fiscal year 2022 and then rising again this year.

I donât know whatâs funnier, that Team DeSantis is now providing discounts for people to meet him, or that Rupert Murdoch is the one telling everybody. Next up, coupons. However, I qualify this article sharing by saying the Big Club doesnât put $250+ million into a political construct and give up this easily. Until Casey DeSantis publicly renounces her quest for a bigger tiara, Super PAC operators Ken Cuccinelli and Jeff Roe will never concede. Reference Cindy McCain in Arizona for comparable context. [NEW YORK POST] â When it comes to campaign fundraisers, Ron DeSantis has been relegated to the...

OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush said in an old interview that he preferred not to hire veteran submarine pilots or technicians to keep his team "younger" and "inspirational." Rush, who died in June on board his submersible, the Titan, was speaking with executives from Teledyne Marine, a marine-equipment manufacturer. While the interview was undated, a recording of the video meeting was published by Teledyne in August 2020, according to metadata seen by Insider. The recording has been deleted, but Insider reviewed an archived version. In the video, the Teledyne executive Matt Burdyny told Rush that he accompanied OceanGate on a submersible...

Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) after the Florida governor knocked him in an interview with Fox Newsâs Piers Morgan, another clash between the two GOP figures as they prepare for what could be a 2024 presidential primary match-up. In an interview set to air on Fox Nationâs âPiers Morgan Uncensoredâ Thursday and published in part by The New York Post, DeSantis shifted from his previously veiled stance to more directly addressing the former presidentâs attacks with jabs of his own toward Trumpâs character and leadership. The American presidency is one of the strangest jobs in the world. Politicians aspire to it. The media focuses obsessively on the person who holds it and those who want to win it. Millions of books and articles have been written about it. And yet, most of the people whoâve held the job really werenât that good. There are a few truly great presidents, some pretty good ones and a handful of complete disasters. But most can be summed up, as the Simpsons famously once did, as the âadequate, forgettable, occasionally regrettable, caretaker presidents of the U.S.A.â In fairness, the...

Former President Donald Trump, who ripped through the 2016 presidential field with attacks on his rivals, reposted images of a young Ron DeSantis allegedly partying with high school teens and adding his own mocking commentary. 'That's not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!' Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. The post linked to a Truth Social Account that grabbed a digital image of a young man with a bowl haircut who appears to be DeSantis surrounded by three young women. One of them, who has her arm around the now-Florida governor, is smiling and appears...

A lot of blood is now on their hands. As the world struggles to come to terms with the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, one question that continues to surface is why the unvaccinated didn't do more to warn us about the potential dangers of being injected. While well intending citizens lined up, did the right thing, and received their COVID19 vaccinations -- now seeming to do more harm than good -- their...

Rynn Azerial Willgohs, a 50-year-old transgender woman, has been rapidly researching ways to flee the United States. Sheâs from the U.S., but with physical attacks against transgender and nonbinary people on the rise and lawmakers targeting transgender people with increasingly draconian legislation that criminalizes their very existence, Willgohs is worried. The national landscape, accompanied by some of her own personal experiences, has made a future in the U.S. feel untenable for Willgohs. In March 2021, when Willgohs had just started her transition, she was traveling across the state for work when she decided to stop at a public bathroom. A...

Visiting the Pantheon, one of Romeâs premier tourist sites, itâs hard not be humbled by the knowledge that this building has lasted 1900 years and still stands as the worldâs largest unreinforced concrete dome, while modern concrete structures deteriorate.
