An explanation still hasn't emerged for why a man killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School, but it does appear that he attended the school as a youngster, Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy told NBC News on Sunday. Adam Lanza, 20, shot his mother multiple times in the head in her home before driving to the school in her car and killing 20 children and six adults in two classrooms Friday in Newtown, Conn., authorities said Sunday. The gunman then shot himself in the head as emergency crews arrived at the scene.

Amid all its political correctness and ideological distortion, one thing often overlooked concerning the mainstream media is its essential strangeness, its near-total separation from any behavior, attitudes, or ideas that could be defined as "normal". We find yet another example of this in the treatment of Adam Lanza, the Newtown CT shooter. A photograph released by the wire services reveals a delicate-looking kid with a shy smile and a goofy haircut. The standard reader's reaction would amount to a shake of the head and a "what could have made such a nice kid do it?" But there's another photo extant...

-snip- Adam Lanza had lived with his mother in the 4,000-square-foot, $700,000 house. His parents were divorced in 2009. He had two bedrooms that were clean and orderly when law officers swept into the house after the shootings Friday morning. Lanza apparently lived in one of the rooms and kept his computer gear and other items in the other one, the sources said. Law officers found evidence that Adam Lanza played graphically violent video games, the sources said.

The horror is unimaginable. The knee jerk reaction of the left to politically exploit this mass murder to advance gun control is vile, debased, inhuman. Daniel Greenfield nailed it when he said, the only way to stop a man with a gun is with a gun. Read Ruth King's post: "My Say on the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut" Ruthfully Yours, on December 15th, 2012 First: I have had a home in Newtown, Connecticut since 1965. My children spent all school and summer vacations there. My grandchildren all learned to swim there and we enjoyed countless barbecues, lawn parties, and family...

For a young man who has been described as withdrawn from the outside world, Lanza's computer room is likely a gold mine for detectives, a veteran law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told Yahoo News. "If he visited certain websites, they are going to glean whatever information they can from that and see what it means," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly. "Does he have friends he communicates with online? Was there a fight with somebody?" Lt. J. Paul Vance with the Connecticut State Police...

The dangers of allowing mentally distrurbed individuals to roam our streets should be common sense. The recent shooting in CT was proof of that contention. However, this advocacy group did not get the memo apparently.

As Democrats and Progressives use this enormous tragedy as the tag necessary to push for nationwide gun control, permit me, a 30 year teacher of young adult males, to offer my reasons as to why this breakdown in our society is happening. First of all, was Adam Lanza on any type of “mind altering” drugs in recent months or from his early childhood? Teachers of young males often encourage parents to put their young children on hyper activity medication just to make the classroom atmosphere easier to control. One of my students, a middle age mom, asked me if she...

Drudge Report: Connecticut Killer “Obviously Not Well,” “Suffered From Personality Disorder,” ”Played Video Games …” Owen Good Now that we've got the right name of the killer in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre yesterday, the media profiles are starting to emerge. To the Drudge Report, playing video games is a remarkable enough thing that it bears mentioning in a headline. An italicized headline. Oh, it's factual enough, but that typeface and those ellipses raise a suspicious eyebrow, or at least mutter a "Just sayin'." Good work, Matt. Having worked a cops reporting beat at a large newspaper utterly obsessed...

-snip- One of those killed, first-grade teacher Victoria Soto, died after hiding her students, a source told The Courant. Soto was a teacher in room 10, the classroom next to where the shooting began, the source said. She hid her students — 15 or 16 of them, some possibly in a bathroom — before the gunman entered the room. He wanted to shoot more people, the source said, but, seeing no one but Soto, he shot her, then left the room, the source sad.

The gunman in the Newtown massacre had an "altercation" with four staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School the day before he killed 20 children, six adults and himself there, Connecticut and federal officials told NBC News Saturday. Three of the four staff members were killed Friday in one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history. The fourth staff member was not at school that day and is being interviewed by federal and state investigators, NBC News’ Pete Williams said. Two days before that, Adam Lanza, 20, went to a sporting goods store in Danbury, Conn., and tried to...

A letter to the editor today in the editorial pages of my local newspaper caught my attention. The writer lamented yesterday’s slaughter of 27 innocents in Newtown, Connecticut – as we all do. Then he identified the culprit – guns. We’ve never heard of a “mass-knifing” claiming so many victims, he pointed out. His implication was that, if we scrap the Second Amendment, there will be no more funerals for victims of mass murder. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Timothy McVeigh did not use a gun in 1995 when he killed 168 people, including 10 children,...

His mother taught him the way of the gun. Adam Lanza, the troubled nerd who turned a Connecticut school into a slaughterhouse, learned how to shoot under the watchful eye of his demanding mom Nancy. “She said she would often go target shooting with her kids,” landscaper Dan Holmes said. Nancy Lanza wound up being the first of her son’s 27 victims when he used one of her guns to shoot her dead. Holmes, who often mowed the grass at the Lanza’s sprawling Newtown home, told Reuters the doomed mom was proud of her arsenal and once showed him a...

Ana Marquez-Greene, seven, was killed when the shooter opened fire on children and teachers at 9.30am on Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty-six people died in the mass shooting. Ms Conte called the ordeal 'sad' for Lanza and his family, and suggested that the violence is a portion of a much larger situation. 'Guns are easy to point to, but it's really a mental health issue.'

Nancy Lanza legally bought and owned the guns used in the Connecticut school shooting on Friday afternoon, according to NBC News. --- This finding makes sense considering Adam Lanza was not old enough to legally own a gun in his home state. NBC News reports that Connecticut residents must be 21 or older to purchase or carry a handgun. Adam Lanza, meanwhile, was just 20 years old. However, rifle owners in the state are not required to register their weapons.

Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut this morning, was "obviously not well," a relative told ABC News. Family friends in Newtown also described the young man as troubled and described his mother Nancy as very rigid. "[Adam] was not connected with the other kids," said one friend. Late today, police said Nancy Lanza's body was found in the family home. According to sources, Lanza shot his mother in the face, then left the house armed with at least two semi-automatic handguns and a semi-automatic rifle. State and...

After a whole lot of confusion, the NY Post, NY Times and other news outlets have now identified Adam Lanza as the suspect in the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning. Altogether, at least 27 people were killed, including 20 children, when the 20-year-old Lanza allegedly walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and opened fire. NBC initially reported that a Ryan Lanza killed his father in Hoboken NJ this morning, then drove to Connecticut to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where his mother Nancy is a kindergarten teacher. It would be an understatement to...
