AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Texas State Capitol Saturday calling on government leaders to reopen Texas – as the state’s death toll from COVID-19 continues to grow. People attending the “You Can’t Close America” rally ignored social distancing guidelines and could be heard chanting “let us work.” It comes just a day after Gov. Greg Abbott announced executive orders to open state parks and some businesses as part of a phased reopening of Texas.

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey residents hoping to emulate anti-‘stay at home‘ protests in other states including Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Utah, Wyoming and Virginia were thrown a curveball on Thursday when Facebook shut down their event page. The “Open New Jersey” rally – planned for Tuesday, April 28th at the Trenton War Memorial – was informed by Facebook that its event page violated the social media platform’s community standards. Specifically, Facebook warned that it was “coordinating harm and promoting crime.”

Thousands of Michigan residents are planning a major protest against state Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Wednesday by driving to the state capitol building, vowing to demonstrate against the governor's broad coronavirus lockdown measures. The protest, named "Operation Gridlock," had nearly 4,000 participants listed on its Facebook event page as of Tuesday afternoon. The activists are urging citizens to drive to the state's capital, Lansing, on Wednesday at noon. The event's description reads:

Despite the Governor’s best efforts to incite and ruin the VCDL rally for Lobby Day in Richmond, the crowds were calm, patriotic, and respectful with no incidents reported. All of the left’s media outlets screamed like Chicken Little over this rally and nothing happened. They were all wrong. It is estimated that the crowd was 50,000+.
