"I wouldn't have even considered abortion if it weren't legal." A woman was speaking about her own experience in front of the Supreme Court on the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the decision that made abortion legal in the United States. The rally was organized by a group called Silent No More. And as the young people who, on Jan. 22, flooded the nation's capital for March for Life, coming from North Dakota, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and all over the Northeast, got back on their buses to head home, her testimony echoed. This year, for...

Babies after 20 weeks of gestation can feel pain. If allowed a couple more weeks to grow inside their mothers, they can survive outside the womb. Most Americans — especially most women — believe that government should protect these babies by banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. After 20 weeks, a baby is entering her 6th month of in-utero life. She is forming taste buds and can hear her mother’s voice. At 20 weeks, an unborn child is on the brink of viability: James Elgin Gill was born after 21 weeks and 5 days gestation. He’s now a healthy...

I know there are many angered by the title of this post, but the truth hurts. I cannot tell you the number of times I have been to political events where a politician kisses babies and talks Jesus so the pro-lifers in the crowd get thigh sweats and send the politician to Washington. When the politician takes up with his mistress or pays for an abortion or, as Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC)51% did, undermines the pro-life cause, they are just horrified. But still they return predictable to the GOP for more abuse and disappointment. Maybe it is time for a...

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement in support of the 2015 March for Life: Today thousands of students, families, and church communities have traveled to Washington to march for life and lift up our nation in prayer. “Forty-two years ago, Roe v. Wade overturned a Texas law and in one sweeping decision legalized abortion on demand across our nation. We are filled with grief for the nearly 57 million souls who will never have a chance to become the next teachers, artists, entrepreneurs, and heroes. “This anniversary marks a shadow in our nation’s history,...

As pro-life supporters from around the nation gather in Washington, D.C. today to mark the 42nd memorial of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion in the U.S., Operation Rescue announces that two more abortion facilities have permanently closed. “Today, as pro-lifers, we should be encouraged that our efforts have not been in vain. Abortion clinics are closing in record numbers due to their tireless work of men, women, and young people all across this nation,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “America is beginning to reject abortion, and that is evidenced in closed clinics and...

Yesterday, the House passed legislation that will put in place a complete ban on taxpayer funding of abortions that ensures abortions are not directly funded in any federal governmental program or department. The president says he will veto it. The legislation combines several policies that must be enacted every year in Congressional battles and puts them into law where they will not be in jeopardy of being overturned every time Congress changes hands from pro-life lawmakers to those who support abortions. The House voted 242-179 for the bill with 239 Republicans and three Democrats voting to ban taxpayer funding of...

Yesterday, I visited my mom and we watched a popular talk show. In the middle of the show, a breaking news update flashed on the screen. Suddenly the show was interrupted. My mind began to race. Did something happen to our President? Was there another terrorist attack? Did a school shooting occur? Soon my fears were erased. Patriots QB Tom Brady was in a press conference, denying claims he knew about deflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game. This was the breaking news that interrupted a scheduled program. I’ll admit I’m not a football fan. I also barely watch TV....

I was leaving the One Voice worship service at the Renaissance Hotel in D.C. Wednesday night, on my way to meet fellow pro-lifers at the Dubliner Pub (dichotomous activities, I know, at least for a Protestant :), when Casey Mattox of Alliance Defending Freedom stopped me in the hall. “They’re pulling the 20-week ban,” said Casey, “and substituting ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion‘.” Casey started walking again, on a mission to tell others, but I remained frozen, with my mouth hanging open, watching Casey until he disappeared around a corner. (Correction: Casey has told me he was actually on a...

Today, the radical communist pro-choice on abortion group, Stop Patriarchy, uploaded a video showing them chanting after their arrest at the March for Life. You can read about how these loud feminist abortion pushers blocked the pro-life March for Life in D.C. yesterday- here. So, very proud of themselves, they actually video taped a chant inside the “paddy wagon” after their arrest. Like- who does that? And..who took the video? A tweet posted by the group reads, “RT! View from inside the paddy wagon…”Every generation, has an obligation, to WOMEN’S LIBERATION!” #Roe42 #DC” The group wasted little time attempting to...

(CNSNews.com) – For every black murder victim in 2011 there were 19 blacks killed by abortion, according to data from the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). 2011 is the latest year for which the data is available. The CDC’s Abortion Surveillance Report for 2011 shows that 117,293 black babies were aborted that year in the 32 states and the District of Columbia that report abortion numbers to the CDC. The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report for 2011, shows that 6,329 blacks were murder victims that year (5,416 males, 910 females, and 3 unknown gender).

New Mexico’s three Roman Catholic bishops hope Republican control in the state House of Representatives will help them achieve a ban on late-term abortions that Albuquerque voters rejected in a 2013 city election. Allen Sánchez, executive director of the New Mexico Conference of Catholic Bishops, said the new Republican majority in the House provides the first “window of opportunity” in years to end late-term abortions in the state. “For years (Republicans) have made the claim that if they could take the House, they could get pro-life legislation on the governor’s desk,” Sánchez said. “We see pro-lifers, both Republicans and Democrats,...

The St. Mary and St. Joseph Family Memorial Foundation has purchased the Twin Spires in Downtown St. Joseph with plans to create a national pro-life shrine. When it opens this spring, the church will become the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the first national pro-life shrine in the country. It will serve as a location for prayer to end abortion, and for atonement for the babies and the conversion of their parents, the nonprofit said. “It was kind of miraculous. We were going to build a shrine,” said Richard Mahoney, president of the foundation. “I got a call from a...

The “Director of Civil and Human Rights” for the United Methodist Church, Bill Mefford, posted a picture to Twitter yesterday mocking the pro-life marchers. Mefford, who works for the church’s lobby arm, the General Board of Church and Society, ridiculed the marchers by posting a picture of himself standing before them with a sign saying “I march for sandwiches.” TWEET ON LINK Here’s a thought. A great proportion of the pro-life marchers are young people. They are volunteers, unpaid and untrained. Mefford, on the other hand, is a grown man, one whose actual job is to represent Christians in the...

S.C. lawmakers gave an early push to a bill Thursday that would ban abortions at 20 weeks of pregnancy – an effort the General Assembly came close to passing last year. A five-member state House panel unanimously OK’d the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.” That act would ban abortion at 20 weeks – based on pro-lifers’ claims, disputed by some in the medical community, that a fetus can feel pain at that point. If the House Judiciary Committee also approves, the bill will go to the House floor for a vote. A similar bill passed the House 81-22 last...

Perhaps the thought of those cries and screams will haunt Reps. Blackburn, Ellmers and Walorski for the rest of their days in office They ought to rename the Republican Party that gained majority control of both the House and Senate in November’s midterm elections only to turn around and renege on campaign promises immediately after being sworn in, the Pontius Pilate Party, PPP for short. No other name better suits a party that staged an 11th-hour revolt against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the 20-week abortion ban that had already got a green light in the last Congress with...

A while ago, I read a blog post over at First Things that was a blast from my past. The author, a Lutheran pastor, recently left the ELCA to become a member of the newly-formed North American Lutheran Church (NALC). He said, “My real disaffection with the ELCA didn’t start with sex. It began in earnest over the ELCA abortion statement and the subsequent decision by the national council to treat elective abortion for pastors and dependents as a reimbursable medical expense under the church health plan.” It was this exact issue that was my first step on the path...

CNN)One of my favorite things I do at work is fetal ultrasound. I'm a practicing radiologist, and the miracle of peeking into that intimate space and then looking up to catch the awe in the parents' faces never seems to get old. But a couple of months ago I got the call that all physicians dread. A fellow doctor called me, irate, saying, "You missed something!" My heart dropped and I waited to hear what I had overlooked or misdiagnosed. The OB-GYN went on. "I delivered a baby girl yesterday with a cleft lip and palate. You did not mention...

In 2013, pro-abortion writer, Mary Elizabeth Williams penned an article titled, “So What if Abortion Ends Life?” Honestly, her article is probably the most outrageous piece of abortion propaganda I’ve every read. However, it was surprisingly refreshing because I don’t think I’ve ever heard an abortion advocate blatantly admit, “Yes, babies in the womb are human beings, but so what.”Williams starts by explaining that one of the most clever moves pro-lifers have ever pulled was our so-called “co-opting of the word “life.’” She writes, “Life! Who wants to argue with that? Who wants be on the side of … not-life?...

... Among the more startling revelations in the report is that 54 percent of abortion facilities are not licensed by the state of Illinois. They have never received a health and safety inspection. The state Department of Public Health has no authority over unlicensed abortion facilities even if they perform surgical abortions. The remaining 46 percent of facilities that are licensed by the state of Illinois went nine to 13 years without an inspection between 2000-2014. It is hard to imagine how lawmakers can turn a blind eye to inspecting abortion facilities every year when lawmakers have recognized the need...
