On the day after Easter, 2013, family, friends and FReepers from far and wide packed The Sweeney Funeral Home to share tears and the many tales of Doctor Raoul’s adventures in the cause of Theodore Roosevelt’s Americanism: “Americanism means the virtues of courage, honor, justice, truth, sincerity and hardihood – the virtues that made America.” In his tribute to Doctor Raoul, Kristinn relates from personal experience how Doctor Raoul lived his Americanism. Even though Doctor Raoul didn’t appear from behind a door and shout “April Fool”, his presence was everywhere. The 1957 Chevy hearse parked out front; the Philly soft...

Tribute to a Conservative Activist Pioneer, Doctor Raoul A legend passed away last weekend. A legend from a long ago era—at least as time is measured in the Internet Age. As such, most of you reading this have never known of him, but you should. Doctor Raoul’s message for the wounded warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center His admirers included the likes of conservative luminaries Andrew Breitbart, Ann Coulter, John Fund, David Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin. His work was appreciated by numerous wounded warriors at Walter Reed. He bedeviled Bill and Hillary Clinton and was sworn at by liberal...

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — An overwhelming crowd once again showed up at a local gun show Saturday. Thousands of gun enthusiasts showed up for the Pittsburgh Gun Show at the Monroeville Convention Center. Gun shows have been inundated with significantly more attendees than usual since the recently proposed assault weapons ban. Sales of many assault-type weapons have boomed since the ban was proposed as worried gun enthusiasts scramble to purchase guns that may become outlawed. Organizers of the Monroeville gun show say they expect 10,000 visitors in a three-day period. That’s a 40 percent increase over their normal numbers says C...

If one were to believe gun control advocates, one would come to the conclusion that those of us who are strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment are nothing but a lot of gun-crazy, law-breaking, and unruly citizens who believe the government is out to take our guns. To hear them tell it, all they want to do is reinstate the ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines (high-capacity is considered to be anything over 10 rounds). We have nothing to fear, or so they say. The assault weapon and high-capacity magazine bans are nothing more than common sense measures that...

Today is my "Going Galt" day as I retired in preparation of moving to the retreat in the mountains. To wash the taste of work and DC out of my mouth and to bask in the atmosphere of good vibes I decided to go to the 1000-table gun show at the Dulles Expo center about 15 miles from DC. As I approached the neighborhood, traffic was so heavy I could hardly even get off the highway, "No biggie," sez I as it was Friday afternoon. As I approached the Expo Center I saw a different truth, that it was traffic...

_Resident Obama gave a speech today at the Clemente Center on the campus of the Florida Institute of Technology. Early reports are that the speech went very well and this from a very conservative source inside the venue. There was a very good turnout with FReepers Kristinn, Shove-it, Ravenstar, and yours truly. Others in the crowd who I missed, please shout out. THe Melbourne Tea Party had a good turnout and the SE corner had lots of Israeli flags and at least one sign that said Bibi (OK, they spelled it out but I don't have to). was for Romney....

Black conservatives vs. liberal protesters at Hollywood Chick Fil A

If the media reports an earthquake was a breeze in the forest, did the earth still move? I’m not sure TownHall Finance is the natural venue for that question, but I’m also not sure why the Denver Post—my local paper—put a significant political and cultural event on page umpty-something, in the business section. If you didn’t see it with your own eyes, you might have missed something big last week. Under fire by gay activists and their media amplifiers, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy unapologetically confirmed he supports the biblical definition of family as he understands it. This modern heresy quickly...

The Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day yesterday was historic. It was historic because it marks a new method of mass protest. I even hesitate to use the word ‘protest’ because it wasn’t a protest. There wasn’t any anger. There wasn’t any hate. There wasn’t any bullying. There were no unwashed crowds of unhappy people holding a sit in and causing other people stress, inconvenience and expense. There were no protest signs, no marches, no noise makers and attention grabbers. There were no revolutionary slogans, no clenched fists, no class warfare, no sullen adolescents in a stroppy mood. The classic signs of a...

Chick-fil-A announced Thursday morning that supporters who flocked to the restaurant for "Appreciation Day" propelled the company to a "record-setting day." The statement confirmed anecdotal claims that the long lines seen at Chick-fil-A's across the country Wednesday fueled unprecedented sales. The turnout came after CEO Dan Cathy came under fire in some circles for his opposition to same-sex marriage. "We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country. We congratulate local Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators and their team members for striving to serve each and every customer with...

Chick-fil-A says it set a sales record on Wednesday, the day that supporters rallied around the fast-food chain amid a debate over its president's opposition to same-sex marriage. The chain said it won't release sales numbers, but "we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day," said Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's executive vice president of marketing

[In the blue state of NJ, stunning footage of line at Chick-Fil-A on Aug 1] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m90FsST_1p4&feature=youtu.be Chick-fil-A is a conservative company that stands for traditional marriage and operates on Biblical principles. They REFUSE to bow to political correctness from the media! We drove 40 miles to support Chick-Fil-A. We sat in traffic for over an hour on Route 17. When we entered the mall and saw Chick-Fil-A the line filled the floor. As we approached the line we realized it was a maze throughout the back of Chick-Fil-A. We stood 2 hours in line and met so many other supporters...

Although I am a native Chicagoan who has lived in the city for many years apparently I am not a good citizen according to our mayor, Rahm Emanuel (D). By his description, I lack Chicago values. Guilty! I am so respectful of my fellow neighbors and other residents that I have never murdered any of them nor have I bribed any city, county or state employee, all standard behavior and practices in our city. I also believe in the US Constitution, including the sections guaranteeing the free exercise of religion and freedom of speech which, according to the mayor and...

We were at the Chick Fil-A at the Paramus Park Mall in Paramus, NJ. The first time I ate at this place since the mall opened in 1974, and it was pretty darned good. I highly recommend the peach shake. What's noteworthy is this particular Chick fil-A is one of the few remaining original teneants at this mall. No media coverage, other than the local cable news. Considering how heavily democrat Bergen Cty is they had quite a turnout and everyone seemed in good spirits. And the crowd was quite a bit more, (I HATE this word) diverse than...

The media-news site JimRomenesko.com reports on Facebook comments by Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reporter Mark Krzos, who summed up his disgust as he covered Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day: "Such a brave stand ... eating a g-ddamn sandwich." "I have never felt so alien in my own country as I did today while covering the restaurant’s supporters. The level of hatred, unfounded fear and misinformed people was astoundingly sad. I can’t even print some of the things people said," he claimed. Then he bashed talk radio: "It was like broken records of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and a recitation of half-truths...

Just an observation, asking for opinions and other observations here. We went to a South Florida Chick-Fil-A, one that is in a "white" area, but still fairly diverse ethnically because of a nearby college...the town of Davie. Saw a significant number of African American customers supporting Chick-Fil-A...I wonder if the rumors about Obamugabe's celebration of sodomy is *really* cutting into his "base".

Photo gallery and article: "For many who went to eat at Chicago-area Chick-fil-As Wednesday amidst calls to support the company president’s anti-gay marriage stance, it didn’t come down to whether they agreed with him or not. Rather, they said, it was simply to show they supported Dan Cathy’s right to espouse his beliefs — beliefs that they said shouldn’t impact whether another Chick-fil-A should be allowed to open in the city. “I came out to support freedom of speech,” said Bob Matter, a paralegal and self-described atheist, liberal and supporter of gay marriage. Matter, like hundreds of others, flocked to...

The amount of cars seen on State of Franklin Road heading toward Peoples Street, as well as cars wrapped around the Walgreens on State of Franklin and West Market Street Wednesday, would easily resemble a Black Friday mob, heading out to scour the sales racks. People were not out looking for the latest deals, though, but rather they were out to buy chicken at Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. It all started after former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee encouraged his viewers to ‘Eat More Chicken’ while speaking on his FOX News TV show and Johnson Citians turned out in numbers to support...
