If youÂ’re like AWD, youÂ’ve been perusing stores looking for ammo. ItÂ’s very difficult to find these days. And, if you can find it, it has astronomical prices. It seems Americans are buying up anything and everything gun related fearing Obama and his big-government statist friendÂ’s aims to destroy the Second Amendment. Ammo isnÂ’t the only thing flying off the shelves. Go to a Cabelas or any other gun store and youÂ’re likely to see empty shelves and crowded counters. Obama is the greatest gun salesman in the history of the world. There is nothing to be found! In Texas,...

.22 LR ammo is on back order at all wholesellers. Who is buying it up? Oil speculators? Late to come to the party preppers? The Feds? Price on the secondary market has gone up 5 times here in Texas.
  • Lethality of the 22 LR(field tests)

I've been shooting the 22LR for many years and even bought a new bolt action 22 LR rifle (Savage Mark II BTVS) so I could train more cheaply for tactical precision rifle matches. As I started to train, I actually became impressed with what could be achieved with the 22LR in short and medium distances and wondered about the actual lethality of the round, so I decided to do some research in that area.

    The Truth About Guns ^ | 4 June, 2012 | Nick Leghorn
Wade writes: Foghorn, my Dad is planning on getting his CCW license, and is already thinking about the handgun to use. But he says that he is going to get a .22lr or something similar, saying that ‘accuracy is more important than force’. He has hunted his entire life, and is an extremely good shot with both rifle and pistol, but I think he is too cocky when he says “all you need to do is shoot someone in the head and the party’s over”. How can I convince him that he may not be able to hit what he’s...

Gun and Rifle manufacturers, I want your attention. I've been looking for a rifle/shotgun to take on a long hike, and there's not many choices. Take a look at Henry's U.S. Survival AR-7. It's a good product for backpacking, but too small on caliber. The fact that when it's packed inside its waterproof stock, it can float if dropped into water, and can be retrieved and will still work, is a great deciding factor. But being a .22LR is a detractor. Now take a look at the Rossi Circuit Judge and their many different variations. I like the 3-inch Magnum...

A man was killed Wednesday night after breaking into a Martinez apartment, where the renter’s son shot him with a .22-caliber rifle, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Two men broke into a Cedar Lane apartment about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. Steve Morris said. After a brief struggle with the renter, the renter’s 15-year-old son fired at least two rounds, striking and killing one man. Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins declared that man dead on the scene. Morris said the second man ran away, and there is no indication that he was injured. The second man was described as...

NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- New Orleans police said a man who was shot by his brother was spared serious injury or death when the bullet bounced off his gold tooth. Police said Waltdell Davis, 20, used a .22-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver to shoot his brother, Walter Davis, 22, after an argument about Walter smoking his younger brother's marijuana, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported Wednesday.

Hey all, I got a used Remington 597 a little while back (love it!) and I'm wondering what a good brand of bulk .22lr ammo is. I ran 100 minimags and federal game shoks through it tonight, and they performed well, but it would be nice to have something cheaper for general practice. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance, ~v.a.

Ammo prices being what they are these days, I find myself looking into .22 LR conversion kits for guns I like to shoot regularly. Currently, my preferred load for AR-15s is running just over $0.40 per round, while .22 LR is running about $0.03 per round. So I was obviously interested in Brownells’ AR-15 .22 LR Conversion Kit. I reasoned that, after one 550-round milk carton of .22 LR, the $199 kit would pay for itself. The other option would be a dedicated .22 LR upper, which costs more and I’d have to purchase additional optics and other accessories to...

BRADENTON - The 74-year-old man who shot and killed a would-be robber Monday night was targeted by the suspect earlier in the day, according to detectives. Manatee Sheriff's investigators say the suspect, Lee Andrew Johnson, spotted his elderly victim at a local ATM withdrawing money and followed him home. The violence that followed is still hard to believe for those who live in the neighborhood. Neighbor Gwen Carnegie says Johnson was her lawn man of several years. "When I got the phone call I said no, it can't be him, he cuts my yard and he doesn't even seem like...
