Here we go again. Four years after the 2000 election fiasco, Palm Beach County's three-member canvassing board will meet Monday to determine the intent of about 300 absentee voters who incorrectly filled out their broken-arrow primary election ballots. The canvassing board also will look at about 180 absentee ballots where voters either failed to sign ballot envelopes or whose signature differed from the one on file with the Supervisor of Elections Office. In total, the questionable ballots make up about 2 percent of the 23,395 absentee ballots the elections office had received by Saturday, three days before Tuesday's primary election....

http://slate.msn.com/id/2087543Slate continues its short features on the 2004 presidential candidates. Previous series covered the candidates' biographies, buzzwords, agendas, worldviews, and claims to fame. This series assesses the story that supposedly shows each candidate at his worst. Here's the one told by critics of Howard Dean—and what they leave out. Charge: In 1971, Dean, who had been a wrestling team captain in high school, received a draft deferment for an unfused vertebra in his back. In the Aug. 15, 2002, Aspen Times, Dean said he "skied 80 days" in Aspen during the winter of 1971-72. The Times reported that Dean "loved...

Taken verbatim from here Surprise Surprise, Ralph Nader's Public Citizen group has dedicated time and energy to attacking President Bush. And they certainly aren't hold back any pretensions about their socialist ideas for running campaigns. "The president is a poster boy for why we need elections to be financed by public money, not private money" Yeah, let’s waste even more of the taxpayer’s money every four years, throw 200 million out the window that we certainly can't use or give back to the populace. Two other notes about this bother me. Not only are they using and building this website...
  • Vermonters so upset at Dean they're writing letters to Iowa Papers

Taken from here Looks like Vermonters are so upset at they are writing letters to Iowa Papers to inform them about the Real Howard Dean in the Daily Iowan(Must Register). Letters to the Editor The true face of Howard Dean I would like the people of Iowa to see the true face of Howard Dean before his campaign workers put so much lipstick on the pig that he becomes unrecognizable. The people of Iowa should know that, thanks to Dean and his cronies in the Vermont Legislature, family farms in Vermont are going out of business at a rate never...
  • The Nation: Dean is Liberal's answer to Ronald Reagan

    The Nation ^ | 08/05/2003 | Online Beat
Hold your noses folks, as Howard Dean is now officially, in the minds of the uber liberal editors of The Nation magazine's Online Beat, been christened Howard Dean the new version of Ronald Reagan, the Left's leader in the new liberal revolution. It's a lengthy article, so I have just quoted the second half. Harry Truman warned that, when given a choice between a Republican and a Democrat imitating a Republican, voters would not hesitate to vote for the real thing. And, with his support for the Bush administration's agenda on foreign policy and trade -- fundamental issues not just...

WASHINGTON (AP) - More than a million Internet users will be invited to vote in a virtual Democratic primary next week, but this most modern of elections is facing age-old allegations of vote-rigging. Howard Dean, who has built an extensive network of Internet-savvy supporters, is expected to get the most votes in the MoveOn.org primary. Organizers of the site say any advantage for the former Vermont governor is due to his appeal among their members, and not any misdeeds in their process or because one of their employees worked on his campaign. The primary begins Tuesday and voting runs for...
  • Not ready for prime time: Is it amateur hour in the Democratic Party?

LET’S SEE, who to start with? How about the front-runner, Sen. John Kerry. The junior senator from Massachusetts said last month, “we need a regime change in the United States.” It was perfectly obvious that the comment, given during an April 2 Peterborough stop on Kerry’s campaign for the White House, was aimed at President Bush. That would be the same President Bush whom 70 percent of Granite Staters say is doing a good job as President, according to the latest UNH poll. Oops. Now Sen. Kerry is backpedaling. Quoth he of the strong jaw and stunning hair, “It was...
