The launch of BGM “kicked off a planned 13-city tour, with similar events in cities like Baltimore and Chicago with high rates of gun violence, where he feels gun training could make a difference.

A Pew Research Center survey released August 26 shows majority support for protecting the right to gun ownership versus passing more laws to control who can own a gun. According to Pew, 52% of the public want to “protect the right of Americans to own guns” while 46% support passing more laws “to control gun ownership.” The gap between the two positions was even larger when the question was posed to Donald Trump supporters, who chose gun ownership instead of controlling gun ownership roughly “nine-to-one.” On the other hand, when Clinton supporters were asked the question they responded in favor...

CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — Freshman U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey is the rare conservative Republican who is running for re-election with the support of leading gun-control groups, but it may not be enough to save him in Democratic-leaning Pennsylvania in this unusual election year....His stance so angered one gun-rights group that it is backing his Democratic opponent, Katie McGinty, just to send a message to Toomey and any other Republican who might deviate from orthodoxy on guns.

Former Orlando mayoral candidate Randy Ross lambasted President Barack Obama’s attempt to blame guns for the Orlando terror attack instead of blaming radical Islam. “While victims were in the hospital, families were grieving, funeral arrangement were being made for the victims, our city mourning, [Obama] turned the conversation into one of gun control” said Ross, a gay speaker who was speaking at Donald Trump’s Aug. 11 rally in Kissimmee, Florida. According to the Advocate, Ross said Obama’s speech wrongly switched the emphasis from the threat of radical Islam to a plea for more gun control for law-abiding citizens.

In 2008 and 2012 the firearms industry saw a surge in both gun and ammo sales thanks to the presidential election, and while this cycle is no different for gun sales — in fact, this maybe a record year — ammo is a different story. Mark DeYoung, chief executive officer of Vista Outdoor, a conglomerate of shooting and outdoor brands said consumers just aren’t buying up ammunition like they had in those years. “As you’ll recall, we were out of stock,” he said during a conference call with investors last week. He thinks consumers built up a vast inventory...

As you know, I wasn’t a Trumpster right from the start, butt I’ve long held that the #NeverTrump cabal is really the #HillaryByProxy krewe (as seen here, here, and here). Now, Biff Spackle, via DougRoss@Journal (who definitely was NOT a Trumpster at the beginning), has an 8-Panel illustration of precisely what the #NeverTrump cabal is determined to accomplish:See The Rest HereMaybe Mark Levin saw Biff’s toon too, as he seems to be inching his way in off the #NeverTrump ledge: “These are really good things he’s saying!”; Mark Levin Praises Trump’s ISIS speech: (h/t: Larwyn’s Linx). I sure HOPE #NeverTrumpers are...

If any of my family members found out I engaged in such a rally, I would be pulled out of college faster than you can say Jack Robinson. But if that would be before or after the butt whooping I would receive... I couldn't tell you. The College Fix reported that the Campus (Dildo) Carry protest will take place on August 24 at the University of Texas at Austin. The anti-gun demonstration was organized on Facebook by three current students: Jessica Jin, Ana López and Kailey Nicole Moore. According to the group's Facebook event page, the demonstration will entail “strapping gigantic swinging dildos to [their]...

More than 50 people were shot over another violent weekend in Chicago, a level of violence that has marked many of the summer weekends this year and has pushed the total number of people shot in the city to more than 2,600. The number of people shot during all of last year was 2,988. Between Friday evening and early Monday morning, at least 52 were shot and nine of them were killed, according to police. The weekend before, 49 people were shot, nine of them fatally. And the weekend before that, 52 people were shot, seven of them fatally. The...

How much gun control would be enough? This is a question that I pose to advocates of control, trying to find out where they would draw the line. What requirement, what level of strictness would reach the point that something more would be unacceptable? The history of firearms laws in the United States is well known to members of the gun community. In the twentieth century, the waves of control rise first with the Sullivan Act in New York State in 1911 and ebb and flow over the next hundred years, peaking with the Brady Act and the Assault...

Nearly 100 people have been shot in Chicago in less than a week, pushing the number of shooting victims so far this year to more than 2,500 - about 800 more than this time last year, according to data kept by the Tribune. Between last Friday afternoon and early Thursday, at least 99 people were shot in the city, 24 of them fatally. At least nine people were killed on Monday alone, the deadliest day in Chicago in 13 years, according to Tribune data. Among the wounded that day was a 10-year-old boy shot in the back as he played...

Donald J. Trump’s candidacy has driven away throngs of Republican elected officials, donors and policy experts. But not the National Rifle Association. With Mr. Trump increasingly isolated and hobbled by controversies of his own making, the powerful gun-rights group has emerged as one of his remaining stalwart allies in the Republican coalition: the institution on the right most aggressively committed to his candidacy, except for the Republican National Committee itself. The association has spent millions of dollars on television commercials for Mr. Trump, even as other Republican groups have kept their checkbooks closed and Mr. Trump’s campaign has not run...

A US Secret Service official confirms to CNN that the USSS has spoken to the Trump campaign regarding his Second Amendment comments. “There has been more than one conversation” on the topic, the official told CNN. The campaign told USSS Donald Trump did not intend to incite violence. The controversy erupted on Tuesday afternoon when Trump said at a rally that Second Amendment defenders might be able to stop Clinton. “Hillary wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks....

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) says Donald Trump's controversial line about "Second Amendment people" qualifies as an assassination threat against Hillary Clinton. [Snip] Murphy was addressing a remark Trump made earlier Tuesday about what kind of Supreme Court justices Clinton would appoint as president. "Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment," he said. "By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. "Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know," Trump added. Other Democrats joined Murphy in condemning Trump's remarks.

Here we go again… On Tuesday, Republican Nominee Donald Trump held a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina. Trump spent much of his speech criticizing Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton’s political positions, specifically her stance on the Second Amendment. This criticism led to a discussion about the potential Supreme Court justices Clinton might appoint if she were elected. Trump made the following comment that has led to, yet another, a media blitzkrieg: “Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people,...

Richard Reid was already a two-time felon when authorities searched his Delaware apartment and found marijuana, crack cocaine divided into sales-size plastic bags, powder cocaine, a scale — and a loaded .32 caliber handgun, an unloaded .25 caliber pistol and ammunition for two other types of weapons. Last week, President Obama commuted Reid’s 25-year sentence and made him one of the hundreds of drug users and dealers who the White House says have done enough time. But at the same time, Mr. Obama forgave scores of gun crimes convictions for the offenders, raising thorny questions about whether the White House...

Late in the 2008 primary season, Hillary Clinton justified her refusal to drop out when it appeared impossible for her to win the nomination by saying “we all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California” during the 1968 primary. On today’s With All Due Respect, host Mark Halperin asked Hillary surrogate Neera Tanden whether there was a parallel between Hillary’s remark and that of Donald Trump today, who said “Second Amendment people” maybe could do something about a President Hillary trying to abolish the Second Amendment. Predictably, Tanden said there was “absolutely no parallel.” Why? Because Hillary was...

Donald Trump has hinted at the assassination of Hillary Clinton by supporters of gun rights. The Republican nominee was speaking at a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, about the next president’s power to appoint supreme court justices. “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” he said, adding: “Although the second amendment people – maybe there is, I don’t know.” The second amendment to the constitution protects the right of Americans to bear arms. Trump has accused his Democratic rival of wanting to abolish it, a charge that she denies. Live Trump implies 'second amendment folks'...

Contentious as it might sound, there are significant similarities between the Islamic State terrorist organization, ISIS, and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Of course there are differences as well, but examining issues of congruence adds another dimension to the gun violence controversy. The most important parallels between ISIS and the NRA are: Institutionally, both organizations are remorseless about the deaths of victims Both use fear and intimidation to obtain their objectives Both assume their ideology is superior to the wishes of the majority of citizens Both have intensely loyal followers Both recruit and indoctrinate members who are ignorant of the...

“The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice has provided oversight and recommendations for improvement of police services in a number of cities with consent decrees. This is one of the most effective ways to reduce discrimination in law enforcement and it needs to be beefed up and increased to cover as many of the 18,000-plus local law enforcement jurisdictions.” That was United Nations Rapporteur Maina Kai on July 27, a representative of the U.N. Human Rights Council, who on the tail-end of touring the U.S., endorsed a little-known and yet highly controversial practice by the Justice Department to...
