In advance, I apologize for the Vanity Post - but I did want to take a minute to gauge Freeper opinion on recent developments. This thread is a bit long but please read it. We've had the COVID-19 scare for quite some time now. It has had a negative effect on this nation, economically and socially. Combine that with the recent rioting in many US metro areas (including mine - which has thankfully died down for now) and my question is this... How do these things bode for President Trump and the GOP in November? Do the American people rise...

On this date in 1886, thirteen Catholic men and boys, as well as nine Anglican Christians, were burned alive in Buganda, a kingdom in modern-day Uganda. Most of them pages at the royal court, they had been martyred for their faith. The kingdom of Buganda came in contact with Europeans in the 1860s; Arab traders had been doing business there a few decades before that. Christian missionaries arrived in Buganda in 1879. In the next few years many court officials converted. King Muteesa I tolerated Muslims, Catholics and Protestants and played them off against other for political gain, but his...

The riots in the wake of George Floyd’s killing have been decried by some black leaders, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to the media.L. Joy Williams, president of the Brooklyn NAACP, tweeted Saturday, “I know that our anger and frustration is real. I feel it myself and I know it exists in my community and in Black people across this country. But my gut is telling me that something nefarious is going on here.”Sherrilyn Ifill, president of the NAACP legal defense fund also tweeted: “Seeing some troubling clips. I hope that someone is putting together the clips of...

The word of the year, or perhaps decade: weaponize: weap·on·ize | \ ˈwe-pə-ˌnīz weaponized; weaponizingDefinition of weaponizetransitive verb: to adapt for use as a weapon of war You’d have to be living in a cave to have not noticed how things have become weaponized in the 21st century, both figuratively and literally. The media, Hollywood, politics, science - everything is fair game as a weapon in the ideological war between the left and right. Weaponized Zombie with extra ammo…just in case. Therefore nearly everyone is aware that the left has weaponized race, gender, income, food, medicine, viruses, etc. in order...

Tiger Woods was quickly criticized after he broke his silence about the death of George Floyd and released a statement Monday evening on Twitter. The 44-year-old golfer said that his "heart goes out to George Floyd, his loved ones and all of us who are hurting right now. "I have always had the utmost respect for our law enforcement," Woods said. "They train so diligently to understand how, when and where to use force."

New polling shows that a majority of Americans, including nearly half of Democrats, support calling in the military to assist local police in handling the nationwide unrest that has accompanied peaceful demonstrations commemorating George Floyd, who died last week in Minneapolis police custody. Morning Consult conducted the survey from May 31 to June 1 and found that 58 percent of voters support using the military to deal with protests and demonstrations across the country, alongside the police. Just 30 percent of respondents said they'd oppose such a measure. Furthermore, 33 percent (one-third) of respondents said they "strongly" support sending in...

An Oklahoma State University football player says he has tested positive for COVID-19 after attending demonstrations protesting the police killing of George Floyd. Amen Ogbongbemiga, a senior linebacker, tweeted Tuesday that he had tested positive for the virus after attending protests in Tulsa. "After attending a protest in Tulsa AND being well protective of myself, I have tested positive for COVID-19," he tweeted. "Please, if you are going to protest, take care of yourself and stay safe." Ogbongbemiga, a second-team All-Big 12 selection last year, returned to campus on Monday and will be quarantined in separate on-campus housing, according to...

You likely won’t hear a single peep about him from the likes of CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon and Brian Stelter, but early Tuesday morning a retired black St. Louis police who’d lived a righteous life and given back to his community was reportedly murdered in cold blood while defending a friend’s pawnshop from one of the left’s beloved looters. One of the first people to bring the death of David Dorn, 77, to the wider public attention’s was President Donald Trump, who tweeted the following late Tuesday, long before the national media picked up the story the following morning:

The lawsuit seeks at least $5 billion, accusing the Alphabet Inc unit of surreptitiously collecting information about what people view online and where they browse, despite their using what Google calls Incognito mode. According to the complaint filed in the federal court in San Jose, California, Google gathers data through Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager and other applications and website plug-ins, including smartphone apps, regardless of whether users click on Google-supported ads. This helps Google learn about users’ friends, hobbies, favorite foods, shopping habits, and even the “most intimate and potentially embarrassing things” they search for online, the complaint said....

Nestride Yumga is an American citizen who originally comes from Africa. She’s also an extraordinarily brave woman. On Sunday, after one of the worst nights of rioting in modern American history, Yumga, who lives in Washington, D.C., decided to see the protests/riots for herself. Contrary to what we’ve been told to expect from a black woman, though, Yumga did not go to support the protest. Instead, she wanted the Black Lives Matter crowd to know that she thinks they’re all a bunch of phonies and hypocrites. As Yumga sees it, they don’t care at all about black lives because they...

By the end of the day Tuesday, 42,451 people voted in person across the state, 6,236 of them in Baltimore. While Baltimore’s total accounted for only 2% of the eligible registered voters in the city, it was double the percentage of voters who opted for in-person voting during an April special congressional election in District 7 when Maryland officials first tried widespread vote-by-mail.

We tend to think if the road is hard, we are on the wrong road. With adoption, the opposite is usually true: The road is hard because we are doing it right. Myka Stauffer of YouTube fame has “re-homed” her autistic, adopted Chinese child, Huxley. Stauffer became widely known in large part due to the video documentation of her adoption journey. Huxley’s emotional gotcha-day video has more than 5 million views.Over the following two years, Stauffer posted regular updates of Huxley’s progress, including his autism diagnosis and references to his therapy. A few months ago, fans started noticing Huxley’s increasing...

A reflection on separate and unequal responses. Within days of causing the death of African American George Floyd by holding a knee to his neck, Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. If convicted, Chauvin faces 12 years in prison, the same sentence drawn by another deadly Minneapolis cop. In 2017, Mohamed Noor, a Somali-born Muslim (pictured above) and his partner Matthew Harrity, responded to a 911 call from Australian woman Justine Damond. The officers’ body cams were turned off so there was no video of Mohamed Noor gunning down Damond as she approached...

Antifa won’t be allowed to murder America, the president vows. In one of the finest addresses of his presidency to date, President Donald Trump took aim at the leftist violence, looting, and anarchy that now dominate the streets, promising to use federal power to crush the radical insurrectionists whom the nation’s do-nothing governors and mayors have been allowing to run wild. “My fellow Americans: My first and highest duty as president is to defend our great country and the American people. I swore an oath to uphold the laws of our nation, and that is exactly what I will do,”...

Google has removed a popular Indian-developed app from its Play Store that promised to find and remove Chinese apps from smartphones. The search giant confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the app, which was called “Remove Chinese Apps,” was removed for violating its Deceptive Behavior Policy, which prohibits software from encouraging or misleading users into “removing or disabling third-party apps.” Remove Chinese Apps had grown popular in India. Reuters reports that it had amassed over five million downloads since late May, and was the top trending free app in the country. The app worked by scanning phones for Chinese apps like...

Blames Trump more than the rioters for the nationwide violence. Joe Biden’s descent into pandering to the left wing Democrat base has reached a new low with the speech he delivered at Philadelphia’s City Hall on Tuesday. Instead of focusing on how to stop the rampant violence, destruction and looting across the country that have endangered innocent people of all races and have dishonored the memory of George Floyd, Biden used his speech to blame President Trump. Biden followed the lead of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who had issued an inane joint statement ignoring...

The Democrat Party is at war with America. That is the clear message of the Democrats’ responses to the crises that have engulfed our nation over the last six months, made our streets war zones, and destroyed the small business communities that are the life blood of our system. When the country was attacked by a deadly virus from China in January, the Democrats’ attacked the president’s efforts to stop it at the border, then blamed him for the 100,000 deaths that followed. Yet Democrat governors controlled the health systems of every major center of the covid19 devastation and were...

Former civil rights activist Bob Woodson issued a sweeping indictment Tuesday of both the Black Lives Matter movement and the idea that "systemic racism" is the cause of African-American hardship in the U.S. "I don't know what systemic racism is. Maybe someone can explain what that means," he told "Tucker Carlson Tonight." Carlson responded by asserting that it was "a way to make people be quiet and stop asking questions about economics, as far as I can tell." Woodson's interview came as protesters across America marched for another night to protest police brutality against George Floyd and other African Americans...
