  • Prosecutors’ Narrative Is Clear: Trump Defrauded Voters. But What Does It Mean?

WASHINGTON — The latest revelations by prosecutors investigating President Trump and his team draw a portrait of a candidate who personally directed an illegal scheme to manipulate the 2016 election and whose advisers had more contact with Russia than Mr. Trump has ever acknowledged. In the narrative that the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, and New York prosecutors are building, Mr. Trump continued to secretly seek to do business in Russia deep into his presidential campaign even as Russian agents made more efforts to influence him. At the same time, in this account he ordered hush payments to two...

The Christmas season is a time for giving. Unfortunately for some, it is also a time for taking. The marginal human beings who boosted the contents from locked storage containers in the parking lot of the Greater Bridgeport Christian Fellowship Church would fit into the latter category. What the thieves made off makes the crime even more reprehensible: It was $80,000 worth of toys earmarked for needy children.

💡 I've been using a laptop almost exclusively for my writing for much of the prior 2 years. I've discovered that the touchpad is both a curse and a blessing, the latter so much so that I do not disable it. When I'm not using my auxiliary ergonomic keyboard, I regularly have things happen due to my palm hitting the keyboard. One such thing is a popup which, I regret to say, I never looked up until now. Given that the HTML Sandbox makes no mention of emoji whatsoever and the only thread by keyword on FR dates to 2004...

Schiff: Trump may face ‘real prospect of jail time’ Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Sunday said that President Trump might "face the real prospect of jail time" after prosecutors indicated last week that he directed illegal payments during his 2016 presidential campaign. "There’s a very real prospect that on the day Donald Trump leaves office, the Justice Department may indict him. That he may be the first president in quite some time to face the real prospect of jail time," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Espionage: On Wednesday, news broke that Canadian authorities had arrested Meng Wanzhou, 46, the chief financial officer of mega-Chinese telecom Huawei, the largest in the world, as she was changing planes in Vancouver. As Fox Business reported, authorities picked her up “as part of a U.S. investigation into an alleged scheme by Huawei to use the global banking system to avoid American sanctions against Iran.” Meng, other reports noted, is the chief financial officer for the company, so on the surface at least, it makes sense that she would be targeted by authorities. Subsequent reporting noted that Weng was detained...
  • “Sun in a box” [in theory] Stores Renewable Energy & Delivers It on Demand

MIT engineers have come up with a conceptual design for a system to store renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, and deliver that energy back into an electric grid on demand. The system may be designed to power a small city not just when the sun is up or the wind is high, but around the clock. The new design stores heat generated by excess electricity from solar or wind power in large tanks of white-hot molten silicon......

The major takeaway from the 40-page sentencing memorandum filed by federal prosecutors Friday for Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, is this: The president is very likely to be indicted on a charge of violating federal campaign finance laws. It has been obvious for some time that President Trump is the principal subject of the investigation still being conducted by the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. Cohen earlier pleaded guilty to multiple counts of business and tax fraud, violating campaign finance law, and making false statements to Congress regarding unsuccessful efforts to build a Trump...

Some 252 million years ago, Earth almost died. In the oceans, 96 percent of all species became extinct. It’s harder to determine how many terrestrial species vanished, but the loss was comparable. This mass extinction, at the end of the Permian Period, was the worst in the planet’s history, and it happened over a few thousand years at most — the blink of a geological eye. On Thursday, a team of scientists offered a detailed accounting of how marine life was wiped out during the Permian-Triassic mass extinction. Global warming robbed the oceans of oxygen, they say, putting many species...

Last month, a Jewish organisation in Argentina launched a petition urging people across the region to boycott Roger Waters concerts and calling the former Pink Floyd leader "one of the great anti-Semites of our time". Three gigs by UK Pink Floyd Experience, a tribute band dedicated to covering the music of the British rockers, have been cancelled after former lead singer of Pink Floyd Roger Waters urged the musicians not to perform in Israel "in the name of everything human". In a message published on his Facebook page, Waters said, in particular, that he is "aghast to see" that UK...

(New Testament) Acts 17 In Thessalonica 17 When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said. 4 Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did...

Republican Senator Ted Cruz has just upped the ante on the contentious battle with the newly-emboldened Democrats over President Trump’s proposed border wall. The Texan who is fresh off of his defeat of liberal rock star Beto O’Rourke just introduced a bill to fully fund the wall at $25 billion which will infuriate Democrats who are already engaged in a game of guts poker with Republicans over shutting down the government. Trump has been firm in his request for the funding of a key election promise and as recently as Friday blasted Democrats for “playing games” over what given the recent...

I'm looking for a large-print Bible with a large-print commentary (preferably NKJV). I've seen many large-print Bibles that include a commentary. But the commentary is always in small print. And that kind of defeats the whole purpose. So if anyone knows of a large-print Bible with a good large-print commentary, please let me know.

The family put up the display for a contest, purchasing a dummy online and positioning a ladder beneath it to look like it’s tipping over. It’s a recreation of the scene from the movie "National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation," where Clark Griswold hangs from the roof while putting up Christmas lights. The display was too realistic for some. The Heerleins said someone rushed to help, thinking the dummy was a real person in distress. They called 911, along with about a dozen others.

The United States spends an ungodly sum on colleges and universities. A lot of that money provides little to no benefit to the consumer (student) or to our society. Many students end their college careers steeped in debt. Yet we have a shortage of people in many critical areas. Here is an idea to solve that. Colleges today offer degrees to people that provide them little opportunity for supporting themselves for the rest of their lives. The idea of a liberal arts education used to make a certain amount of sense. When the cost became enormous with the resulting disaster...
