CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Lee County jury convicted Wade Wilson of gruesomely murdering two Cape Coral women in Oct. 2019. That
same jury recommended that Wilson be sentenced to the death penalty after an hour and a half of deliberations. 35-year-old Kristine Melton and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz were strangled as part of a cross-county crime spree. In addition to the two first-degree murder charges, Wilson was convicted of grand theft, battery, burglary and petit theft.
