Gateway Pundit ^ | August 24, 2024 | Kristinn Taylor
Kamala Harris’ vice presidential running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) was caught in another misrepresentation during his 2006 run for Congress, Alpha News reported Friday. Walz, who was born and raised in Nebraska and enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard at seventeen, falsely claimed he had been named “Outstanding Young Nebraskan” by the Nebraska Chamber of Congress. After the chamber’s president sent a scathing letter to the Walz campaign a few days before the 2006 election, the campaign blamed a typographical error and claimed the award actually came from the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce: Alpha News excerpt: In...

In the last few years, Americans began to realize what most Europeans and many East Asians had realized last decade: We’re in the middle of a global Baby Bust. Birthrates are falling in almost every country. Many countries have shrinking populations. The Total Fertility Rate is the most important measure of the birth rate. It is a modeled number that calculates how many babies each woman is having in her lifetime. Every wealthy country besides Israel has a TFR below 2, as do China and India. That means the adults in all of those countries are not replacing themselves. A...

The COVID-19 pandemic is proving to be a powerful driver of change. It is spurring biodigital innovations such as nearly real-time biosurveillance of virus spread and mutations; virus tracking via smartphone; and messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine development at unprecedented speed. Biodigital convergence, the merging of biological systems and digital technologies, is challenging the way we understand ourselves and the world in which we live.

A Long Island man was sentenced to prison and barred from ever owning a pet after he admitted to beating his aunt’s chihuahua to death, prosecutors said Monday. Peter Minichello, 22, confessed to attacking the 5-year-old dog — named Pup-Pup — on July 6, 2022, causing grisly injuries that left the tiny animal dead days later, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Minichello had been left alone with a perfectly healthy Pup-Pup at his West Islip home while his mother and aunt were at work that day, prosecutors said. But when Minichello’s aunt came home, the small dog...

CNN — The US Food and Drug Administration is poised to sign off as soon as this week on updated Covid-19 vaccines targeting more recently circulating strains of the virus, according to two sources familiar with the matter, as the country experiences its largest summer wave in two years. The agency is expected to greenlight updated mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech that target a strain of the virus called KP.2, said the sources, who declined to be named because the timing information isn’t public. It was unclear whether the agency simultaneously would authorize Novavax’s updated shot, which targets the...

Ukrainian forces struck a nuclear power plant in the Zaporizhia region on Sunday, an area controlled by Russia. The cooling systems at the nuclear plant caught fire, sending a dark cloud of smoke in the air above the plant. According to Wikipedia, the Zaporizhia nuclear plant in southeastern Ukraine is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and among the ten largest in the world. It has been under Russian control since 2022. It was built by the Soviet Union near the city of Enerhodar, on the southern shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir on the Dnieper River. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr...

So, Microsoft has been threatening me all year that they're going to force everyone to use "Outlook" on their computers, getting rid of "Mail". I use Outlook on my computer for a 'side hustle' business, and do not want to intermingle my email accounts on one application - and "Mail" does everything I need for my Yahoo/Gmail/etc. accounts. I've tried looking online for some, but can't really find anything that fits the job like the simple, basic "Mail". So, reaching out to the technocrati here at FreeP to see what y'all use for e-mail on a Windows laptop?

Griffin, who as recently as last year had been viewed as a rising star at ESPN, had two years remaining on his deal.. ESPN has fired “Sunday NFL Countdown” host Samantha Ponder and analyst Robert Griffin III, ... The buyouts of Ponder and Griffin are the only moves ESPN is making at the moment, but it could choose to shed more salary by the end of September. However, the cuts are not expected to be anywhere near the bloodletting in which around 20 big names were let go last June, including stalwarts like Jeff Van Gundy, Suzy Kolber and Jalen...

The U.S. Secret Service is making arrangements for former President Donald Trump to resume outdoor campaign rallies by surrounding his podium with bulletproof glass, multiple sources told ABC News. The measure is typically used exclusively for sitting presidents, but the Secret Service is making an exception following the first attempted assassination of a presidential candidate since George Wallace in 1972. The Secret Service declined to comment on its use of ballistic glass. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said the campaign does not comment on security measures relating to Trump. The Secret Service recommended that Trump stop holding outdoor rallies last...

Hostage negotiations in Doha won’t end on Thursday and will likely continue into Friday, US National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby told reporters in a virtual meeting. “Given the complexity of the agreement, I do not anticipate coming out of these talks today with a deal,” Kirby said. “In fact, I'd expect the talks to continue into tomorrow. This is vital work. The remaining obstacles can be overcome, and we must bring this process to a close,” he said.
