The construction site of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism in Ottawa was vandalized over the weekend with someone writing “Communism will win” in spray paint on a fence surrounding it. There
were also three pictures of the hammer and sickle symbol to accompany the writing. The memorial is in recognition of Canada's "role as a place of refuge for people fleeing injustice and persecution, and honour the millions oppressed by communist regimes." It is under construction in Ottawa and has been seen as controversial by some. Construction on the site started in November 2019. This incident follows several...

New York Times readers struggle with communism’s legacy. Communism wins.

A friend emailed me yesterday night, “If you don’t feel sufficiently depressed today, be sure to read the readers’ comments on Brett Stephens’s column in the NY Times condemning communism and the Left’s soft spot for it.” The
comments were already closed at 522 when he wrote me. I haven’t got the time to read a significant chunk. Some of the ones I saw were quite entertaining. There are lots of intelligent, literate and inventive people demonstrating their power to rationalize away the lessons of common sense. A number had decent points, in that Stephens chose to focus on Stalinism...

Watermelon Communism: Meta AI Excuses ‘Degrowth Communism’ as Tool to Fight Climate Change

| 6/13/2024 | Joseph Vazquez
It’s bad enough when prominent leftist media outlets try to rationalize insane communist ideas in the name of fighting climate change. But
it’s downright terrifying when artificial intelligence does it on its own. MRC Free Speech America researchers probed Meta AI on the merits of so-called “degrowth communism” as a climate change solution after leftist magazine The Atlantic promoted the idea on its platform. Researchers simply entered the headline of MRC Free Speech America’s write-up of The Atlantic, “The Atlantic Justified ‘Degrowth Communism’ to Fight Climate Change … Yes, You Read That Right.” Meta AI knew that the prompt was...

“This is not communism. It is pure Christianity.”Yes, even Pope Francis, a man often accused of being soft on communism, understands. He
offered that succinct assessment in a homily on Divine Mercy on a Sunday in 2021 at St. Peter’s Square, when speaking on the Book of Acts, specifically Acts 4:32, which states of the apostles that “no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.”Francis paused to explain in the very next line, lest anyone had any misconceptions: “This is not communism. It is pure Christianity.”Indeed.I mention this now because the Lectionary...

“Moreover, the history of those who carried on the Marxist tradition on women’s oppression during the mid-twentieth century has frequently been rendered invisible—yet these activists and theorists provided an indispensible thread that continued between the victory of women’s suffrage in the 1920s (often referred to as US feminism’s “first wave” and the
rise of the 1960s movements for women’s liberation (known as its “second wave”.

What We Can Do About COMMUNISM
|
|
WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT COMMUNISM, Avon Book Div, Hearst Corp. | 1963 | Russell V. DeLong, Ph.D.
Russell V. DeLong, Ph.D. was a noted educator and churchman who surveyed history, philosophy and goals of Communism- and provides an inspiring program of action that answers the question: "What can I do about Communism? " The interest of the author in Communism stems from two primary factors. First-because
of his professional consideration of the subject in connection with his classes in Political and Social philosophy; and second, because of his world travels and experiences behind the Iron Curtains.

Limousine liberals publish extended advert for ‘Fully Automated Luxury Communism’ The New York Times may have given up on political cartoons, but it hasn’t lost its sense of humor. On
Tuesday morning, the Times ran an extended advertisement for communism. Cockburn wondered at first if this was an attempt to make up for the cartoon deficit by running a political cartoon in verbal form, but no. The Times, the preferred prejudice-flatterer of some of the richest Americans, wants us, the proles, to give the most murderous ideology in history another chance. This time, our maximum leader is Aaron Bastani. Instead...

Nothing to celebrate This year marks the hundredth anniversary of one of the worst mistakes ever made: the Communist revolution in Russia. Communist regimes went on to kill about 100 million people. Most
died in famines after socialist tyrants forced people to practice inefficient collective farming. Millions of others were executed in political purges. Yet when the Russian Revolution happened, people both inside and outside Russia were excited. Crowds cheered Lenin. No longer would nobles rule; no longer would capitalists exploit workers. Now the people would prosper together. British journalist Theodore Rothstein wrote, "The undivided sway of the Imperialist nightmare...

DIE. Diversity, Inclusion, Equity is the mantra, the maniacal chant of the religious zealots of the left. DIE.
Diversity, Inclusion, Equity is the mantra, the maniacal chant of the religious zealots of the left. Equity comes from the elitists and globalists in the dominant political party. But look more deeply. Equity is forced redistribution of property. Equity demands that those who have give to those who have not. It's not a free exchange; it is forced by a central controller, by our own government. Equity presupposes that you do not have any right to ownership of your property, including your...

Sometimes, you have to take stock of what you’ve been through to see clearly where you’re going. It’s
important to recognize obstacles especially when they appear to be shortcuts. This goes for people, too, those who always stand in the way, even while appearing to be someone anxious to help. There are debunked lies that should have slipped out of the conversation, but somehow always seem to be present, forcing them to be debunked over and over again, wasting time, effort and momentum. Recognizing this helps to make ground in valuable endeavors while bypassing the swampland. First of all, there...

Against all logic and against all historical rationality, that ideology has survived and, what is even more irrational, has in some respects even strengthened, augmenting its ranks throughout the Western world. SNIP
After the collapse of the Soviet monster, that is of the great financier of communist movements all over the world, which were therefore deprived of considerable economic means, it seemed that communism in the West could die out or at least be reduced to small groups of nostalgics, as it had happened for National Socialism and for the few Nazis scattered around the world. In fact, the Soviet...

Communism (and Socialism)
|

Catholic Essentials ^
Communism is the most logical and extreme form of Socialism, outcome of the revolutionary theory of Karl Marx. The underlying philosophy is materialistic and determinist; the social order evolves through economic struggles between the classes in the direction of the violent revolution and a dictatorship of the proletariat, to be followed by
a "withering away" of the state and the substitution of a society where ownership of all things is common, where all will work voluntarily, and all take freely of goods produced according to his needs. As well as the abstract theory of Communism there must, since 1917, be...

A century ago a citizen army stopped a Soviet takeover of Europe. Communism arose in a time of pandemic and war. In
1918, the Bolshevik party led by V. I. Lenin seized control of Russia amid a world numbed by the slaughter of a world war and the seemingly unstoppable spread of influenza. Promising a utopia of equality, the communist message proved seductive to many in Europe and America. In the summer of 1920, having defeated his most serious internal foes, Lenin decided to launch a full-scale invasion of Europe to spread communism all across the continent. Soviet communism proved...

It’s a message which bears repeating. An

Whether it’s the specter of famine in Venezuela, the terror inflicted by Maoists upon innocent Indians for decades, or the Kim dynasty’s ruthless campaign to instill fear in every one of its subjects-no matter how far removed they are from North Korea itself-collectivism has sown nothing but misery and hopelessness wherever it’s been implemented...
