Prayers for FRiends and Family & APV 2021

I believe that God wants us to know how much He Loves us and desires to hear our personal prayers so in His Kindness and Mercy grants our humble requests, not always but often in the exact manner we expect and so I think it’s very important for the people that pray to learn of how their prayers are answered.

To post a prayer request on this thread simply click on the "Post Reply" button on this post and let everyone know who and what we are praying for. Those that check this thread regularly will see your post. When I see it I will ping my FRiends and Family prayer warrior list (everyone that posts replies to this and previous threads) with a link to reply to your reply post number. There are now over 300 FReepers that will be notified. I try to ping any update reply posts you provide but PM me if I miss it. I will not ping any FReepers that have specifically requested to be excluded from prayer pings.

If your prayer request is of especially critical and urgent nature and there is still time for a miracle, Please create a separate thread (*I can't really do this for you). Then I will ping my very low volume urgent ping list that is almost 1500 prayer warrior FReepers. * If you really need me to post a thread for you, just PM me with as many details as you can provide but especially the first name of the person we are going to be praying for. I believe that God plays a role in how we receive our first names and so it is a slightly more powerful way to pray however He knows who we are praying for anyway and is not really necessary. Please try to make at least one post to the thread so I can direct poster's replies to you. If you want to remain anonymous I will gladly honor your request.

If you want to be on one(or both) of my prayer ping lists simply post a reply on one of the threads and you will eventually land on the list but I can manually add you anytime if you PM me. My apologies in advance if you get pinged by accident a few times. I'll do my best to get you completely removed from the list as soon as possible.

*If I post the new thread for you then often FReepers mistake me for the original requester and I will get all the prayer replies. With a new separate thread you will be able to post updates and reply to FReepers on the new thread also I can easily make a custom ping list for your new separate thread. Little Jeremiah is asking for prayers for a dear, dear FReeper, Califreak. She has been dealing with cancer of the mouth, which has now spread to other areas. She is in pain, the prognosis is poor and she is now in palliative care. She has also lost her husband in the last year and her daughter is helping her. She is a dear, dear soul.
Praying that God will hold her and her family in His hands close to His heart, and grant her freedom from pain, improved health, and as God knows what is best, may He bless her in every way.

FREEPERS are the best people - I am so grateful for all the prayers-the response was so plentiful-I am humbled and grateful.
Hubby’s condition is related to one of those abdominal mesh things - it can cause trouble. Fortunately, the IV fluids, NG tube and no food or liquids to rest the digestive system allowed the blockage to clear.
So he was discharged with no need for surgery at this point. He does have to take it easy - no lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for 2 weeks and follow up with a surgeon later to discuss - mostly to make sure that we have a reliable one lined up in case it is needed down the road.
The best surgeon to do it was out of town, and the one on call in that office said it would be better for the expert to do it.
He has already had 4 abdominal surgeries - and at his age both the Dr. and Me and Hubby all agree that we don’t want it if it can be avoided - to take out that mesh would be a long and hard surgery and really long recovery period as the incision would be quite large.
Thank you all for your prayers. I am certain it made all the difference in helping him through and resolution without surgery.

I’m overwhelmed (and a little bit chagrined) by your kind show of support. Thank you!
I am, by nature, a private person who is disinclined to trouble others with my problems. I’ve known people over the years that fussed and obsessed over every ailment, large or small, and sought to never be that person.
In early October I was admitted to the hospital when my kidneys suddenly failed. A misdiagnosis nearly killed me when I was prescribed blood thinners - even though I was bleeding internally. “The customer is always right” apparently does not apply to the medical community where my voiced concerns over the amount of lost blood went unheeded. I came very close to bleeding out and was rushed into surgery to stop the bleeding. I subsequently received seven blood transfusions to restore my system.
Unfortunately, tests revealed cancer at the root of my problems. Everyone on staff was tiptoeing around the obvious - not wanting to upset me. Truth was, most of them thought that the only way I was ever leaving the hospital was with a toe-tag.
Finally a surgeon, known for his terse and abrupt manner confirmed my suspicions. When asked what stage the cancer was, he replied, “Yes, you have Stage Four Cancer. It’s emanating from your Prostate but it has metastasized which means it has spread to other organs. I do not expect you to survive this for more than a few weeks to a couple of months.”
Ouch!
A meeting was quickly set up that featured the hospital chaplain, the palliative care team, and yours truly. My brother to whom I signed over medical power of attorney attended for moral support. Everyone had long faces and spoke in hushed tones as though we were already attending my funeral.
In a tearful and raspy voice that belied how scared I was I jumped to the point, “Everyone is talking about how to make my final days comfortable and pain free but screw that! You’re making this meeting into a wake when I want it to be a strategy huddle. I’m not ready to be dead yet!”
With that the conversation shifted to exploring chemotherapy. Apparently some had been told that I was “too far gone” for chemo to be effective and that was why they were aiming me in the “care and comfort” direction. My response was, “As long as I continue to have a say in the matter, and unless you can find me a doctor that can look me in the eye and say “you’re not worth it” then I vote to fight, not surrender.”
Two days later they transferred my to a larger hospital about 30 miles from home and I began my chemotherapy. I’ve since completed two rounds and have another round scheduled for Monday. The results have been encouraging and I remain optimistic.
Mostly I’m grateful to have had the last few weeks to enjoy with my family.
