I have no problem.

Mormonism is not Christianity.

Just a couple of differences to illustrate.

One of the many areas in which Mormons fall short of saving faith is their belief that God is merely an exalted man who earned his position by good works (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345). This directly contradicts the Bible, which states that God has existed in His position as God of the universe from eternity past (Revelation 1:8; 1 Timothy 1:17; 6:15–16; Psalm 102:24–27). God was never a man (Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Hosea 11:9) and is the holy and powerful Creator of all things (Genesis 1; Psalm 24:1; Isaiah 37:16). Mormons also believe that they themselves can attain the status of gods in the afterlife through their works here on earth (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345–354). However, no man can ever become like God (1 Samuel 2:2; Isaiah 43:10–11; 44:6; 45:21–22), despite what the serpent told Eve in the garden (Genesis 3:5).

Mormons also believe that Jesus was a god, but not God Himself (Mormon Doctrine, p. 547; Articles of Faith, p. 35; Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 372). It is essential to Christian faith that Jesus is one with God and that He is God’s only begotten Son who became flesh (John 1:1, 14; John 3:16). Only Jesus’ oneness with God would have allowed Him to live a sinless, blameless life (Hebrews 7:26). And only Jesus Christ was able to pay the price for our sins by His death on the cross (Romans 4:25; Acts 4:12).

Have a gander. I’ve also done work at the mormon temple in edmonton for electrical. I had to go inside. As a real Christian, it was creepy to say the least.

Is the mormon fake jesus the same as the real Jesus of the Bible? Is a counterfeit $20 legal tender just because it looks real?

Most Mormons I’ve met have no idea of how bizarre their “belief” system is according to their own Book of Mormon. They’ll defend mormonism to the end but really know nothing of what it stands for.

You have a problem with any religion that doesn’t match your own, whatever that is.

In fact, as long as mormons don’t bother me, I won’t bother them. You, on the other hand, live to tease and attack anyone who doesn’t agree with your own private brand of religion. Why don’t you take your message into downtown Detroit or Lewiston, Maine, hmmm?? Come on, big man, speak to the islamics in those areas. We’re waiting.

Do you, if male, believe that you will eventually be “god” of your own planet - and have a multitude of celestial wives?

Do you, if female, believe that you will be one of many celestial wives to the “god” of a planet after you die?

Do you believe that dead people in the grave can be baptized into the Mormon faith?

No. Paul wrote:

Galatians 1:6-10 King James Version (KJV)

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Let us also never forget the warnings written in the close of Scripture in:

Revelation 22:18-19 King James Version (KJV)

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Is this a serious question?

A better question is whether LDS/Mormonism is the one holy catholic and apostolic Church founded by the Messiah and the answer is no. Joseph Smith went to Protestant faith communities and then started his own movement with yet another attempt to re-create/re-construct the Church Jesus founded upon Peter, the other apostles and prophets, with Himself as the chief cornerstone. LDS/Mormonism is a uniquely American pioneer religion with a lot of good family aspects.

I’m not sure what ‘Christian’ really means anymore. There are so many different sects, many of which concentrate on different, specific points of dogma; and each thinks that their way of believing is the only ‘right’ way.

That’s the problem with dogma - it attempts to force everyone to think the same way; but God made us all different, with different viewpoints.

I’ve also known Mormon people of fine character; so I have to believe that the guiding ideals of their lives are generally positive, beneficial ones for them.

(Some religious posts on FR seem deliberately designed to stir-up trouble and contention...people often think they are doing this in honor of their ‘god’, when it’s really in honor of their own egos.)

I agree! They believe in Do Unto Others.. They’re OK in my book.

America = Freedom of religion.

I don’t like people who try to divide Americans based on religion.

Islam is not a religion.

It’s a war plan.

You have a problem with any religion that doesn’t match your own, whatever that is.

The question of the thread was "Are Mormons Christians?"

Based on what Mormons believe the answer is no.

Now, unless you have evidence to the contrary, which I seriously doubt you do, you should post it. Unless you're willing to say Mormons are Christians.

In fact, as long as mormons don’t bother me, I won’t bother them.

I believe my initial reply on this thread indicated I don't have a problem with Mormons as they're not blowing stuff up or killing people.

At least they didn't start an inquisition or kill people who disagree with them as Roman Catholicism did.

You, on the other hand, live to tease and attack anyone who doesn’t agree with your own private brand of religion.

My church has never started an inquisition or sanctioned the killing of those who disagree. Your denomination cannot make that claim.

Why don’t you take your message into downtown Detroit or Lewiston, Maine, hmmm?? Come on, big man, speak to the islamics in those areas. We’re waiting.

Now...who's doing the attacking??

For all you know I have.

Like a lot of your fellow Roman Catholics on these threads you seem to be full of hostility to those who disagree with Rome.

I will note it is you who have changed the tone of this thread to that of the playground.

Perhaps some of the Southern hospitality you speak of on your page hasn't fully rubbed off on you just yet. Perhaps a visit to Chik Fil-A tomorrow would be good for you. I recommend the #1 combo with a glass of sweet tea. Might do you some good.

Have a good evening.

Jesus teaches me to judge a tree by it’s fruit. Many of the best neighbors I have ever known were Mormon, so I have a profound respect for Mormons. On the other hand, the last chapter of the last book of my Bible says that if you add anything to this book then to you will be added the plagues found herein. They are definitely good people, but it’s not something I would endorse to a friend who was questioning which direction to turn.
