FULL TITLE: 'We WILL rebuild Notre Dame': French president Macron says 'the worst' has been prevented as bell towers are saved but inferno reduces much of the medieval cathedral to ashes in just an HOUR

French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild Notre Dame with help from the international community after a devastating fire gutted the famous cathedral on Monday night.

Speaking just hours after the roof of the 850-year-old building caved in, Macron told the world's assembled press that a national fundraising campaign to restore the historic building would be launched today, and he called on the world's 'greatest talents' to help.

The French leader credited the 'courage' and 'great professionalism' of firefighters with sparing Notre Dame's facade and two landmark towers from being destroyed.

In an impassioned speech outside the cathedral, Mr Macron said: 'We will appeal to the greatest talents and we will rebuild Notre Dame because that's what the French are waiting for, because that's what our history deserves, because it's our deepest destiny.'

Late on Monday evening fire chiefs confirmed that the structure of the cathedral has been saved, despite initial fears it may be entirely destroyed. It wasn't until early on Tuesday morning that the fire was declared to be 'under control and partially extinguished'.

Experts say it will take 10-20 years to rebuild the cathedral into a proper French mosque.

Read the article. The wooden interior was totally destroyed including the rose windows, the altar, and the organ. Yes, some of the important artifacts were saved, but the destruction of the cathedral was massive. I can understand the desire to put the most optimistic slant on what happened, but it is delusional to deny how extensive the damage was. We will learn more in the coming days what was lost.

I don't know what to tell you, but I've read conflicting reports tonight. I know the interior sustained massive fire damage, but reports say that much of the interior was saved, including the rose windows and the altar.

Fog of war, eh?

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

The important thing is to build an edifice made of living stones ("pierres vivantes") --- faith unto Christ Our God in the hearts of the French people.

France, eldest daughter of the Church! Reclaim your faith!

It not up to the French Government to rebuild that church It’s up to the parishioners and the Catholic Church in Rome.

I would imagine so, although I don't know who "owns" the property.

With 13 million visitors, certainly there is a national interest and the globalists (UNESCO) interest to wrest control of this property from the Catholic Church.

Even conceptually, as statements from Hillary Clinton and Obama show, the idea spreads that a church is a symbol that has secular significance.

This series can be found on Netflix or Amazon. I saw it last year. It’s at least 30 years old but a brilliant show.

Just thinking ahead dear. If they need $$ for rebuilding they could easily sell remnants of this masterpiece for $50 each. Sell a million (easy considering the fame of this place) and voila, $50M dollars.

I have been watching France 24 for most of yesterday evening and today. Understandably, they have been following Bing Crosby's advice:

You've got to accentuate the positive

Eliminate the negative

Latch on to the affirmative

Don't mess with Mister In-Between

People must be given hope and encouraged to donate to the rebuilding of ND. The truth is that the church was not maintained properly and was in a sad state of disrepair despite the renovation that was going on. The French were having fund raising efforts around the world including in the US before the fire.

France 24 has been highlighting each revelation of what survived calling it a "miracle." I remain skeptical until a final assessment is made of what was lost and what structural damage has occurred. This will take months and the repairs will take, according to France 24, decades. Any restoration will be painstakingly slow. We are talking about a work of art, not replacing a building. I welcome good news about what has survived. May there be more of it.

The other constant theme on France 24 is that the tragedy is being investigated as an accident, not the result of arson. It is repeated often including a constant crawl repeating it. 50 French detectives are investigating it. IMO even if they found arson, it would never be divulged to the public given the explosive nature of such a revelation.

In the meantime, Macron will try to make hay out of the incident wrapping himself in the flag.

Yes, how would you save the stained glass windows? In an hour?

Oh, well they were depictions anyway and we all know how depictions are viewed by the sons of satan who apparently rule now.

Two words: Nuke Mecca.

In the Vin Diesel science fiction movie Pitch Black, from 2000, it's mentioned that after Mecca was nuked, Muslims decided that since the particles from the blast spread across the world, the whole planet was now Mecca.

An idea of genius, Black Agnes! Millions of people -— at all income levels -— would probably want a larger or smaller piece of that. I’d save my pennies and buy a mere nub of colored glass. A pebble would do.
