Need prayers for the success of a struggling brother
vanity | May 6, 2018 | Kevin Collins

Posted on 05/06/2018 6:01:49 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

A friend is struggling to put his life together and put bad decisions and a terrible act in his past behind him for good. His mother, who is also a friend, has asked me for prayers that he might be granted a special request which will move him forward.

I can’t say what it is because doing so would reveal who my friend is and his terrible act would be revealed. I realize that joining me in prayer for this special favor from God which will bring him so much closer to his final reclamation, requires blind faith and trust in me that I would not ask for your prayers for someone who was not genuinely progressing toward a wholesome life.

Please pray with me for J V.

I promise to update you when there is news.

Thank you all

As someone who is in need of similar prayers, it would be my honor to stand in the gap for him. Prayers up.

It honestly doesn’t matter what it is.

The point is that he is repentant and wanting to get over it and have victory in this area.

Satan will put up a fight though.

I just finished an excellent book about dealing with past sin and bondage. It’s called *Reclaiming Surrendered Ground* by Jim Logan.

A word of caution, while the book is incredibly helpful and have so much good in it, one could be consumed by trying to follow his step by step outlines for dealing with the past.

It can be a bit overwhelming to someone who has a tendency to be an all or nothing kind of person.

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

Luke 15:11-32 (KJV)

First this prayer it was one of my Dads favorites:

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
— St. Teresa of Avila

In the last four weeks I have commanded Honor Guards that puts the total confirmed at which I have been present at about 700 (Praise God!) after yesterdays confirmation a women approached me sobbing about how the Knights came to her families aid when her father was murdered and how she felt his presence with her there at Mass. Made me think of my own father. When I got home my wife was opening the mail and we got our property tax bill that appears(haven’t pulled out the calculator yet) to be a 16% increase over last year OUCH! Life is full of triumphs and difficulties.

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

A relationship with Jesus through His Word and the Holy Spirit - is the solution, answer, resolve to every situation in life. If your friend desires deliverance, forgiveness and healing in his/her life, find a mature well-grounded Spirit filled Christian preacher/pastor and ask him to talk to your friend. Find a church family where your friend can be nurtured.

There are people in prison who are free and there are people on the street who are in prison. A relationship with Jesus through His Word and the Holy Spirit makes the difference.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." - Jesus speaking in John 10:10

I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven
over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons
who need no repentance.
