It’s definitely in the Old Testament in Leviticus. Right after don’t commit homosexuality.
-——Couldnt read past the first line where you voiced a hit on Catholics.-——
Not a hit on Catholics, just the truth as well as it applies to many Protestants
Your loss, it’s a very good commentary...you might actually learn something new...never hurts to expand your base of knowledge...
As Mr. Costanza said quoting a Korean woman’s father he dated:
“This guy, he’s not my kinda guy.”
Seriously WTF?
Pope Francis is the enemy of my church. I see what he is doing to my church and it reminds me of what Obama did to my nation. Obama professed he loved our nation, Francis professes he loves his church. Both were and are liars.
When I was growing up, no full blown bible. Just snippets at Mass from epistles & gospels.
Catholicism was taught from the Baltimore catechism.
Starting in the middle of 3rd grade, I had to go to Mass every day. On some days Solemn High, High or Low holy days - 2 masses. Received the Sacraments.
Proper celebrations of each and every Holy day.
Adoration; Benedictions; Stations of the Cross; ...Holy Week -> close the doors of the church -> especially Holy Saturday.
Lived through the crossover to Vatican II.
All through 13 years of it....not one introduction to the Bible.
And I still haven't picked it up and that is now on me.
Maybe I'll get there.
Yeah, it was the remarriage part, right?

You clearly have no understanding of Catholic dogma or faith. Your understanding of scripture may be amazing, but you are blind to the reality of what Our Lord gave us. I will pray for your enlightenment.
Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 1 Cor 7.
This is the Lord’s commandment.
You will be glad when you do. It is God’s love letter to man. :-)
Jesus came to fulfill the Law, and divorce was not originally allowed, as He said.
Paul said Christians must not divorce, but if divorced, remain single or reconcile.
——You clearly have no understanding of Catholic dogma or faith.——
Not blind to what the Lord has given us, as for enlightenment, God sent his Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, I simply don’t need a mere man to find salvation in dogma or tradition.
That’s how I understand it as a Catholic, and teach it to our RCIA students.
it’s actually one of the exceptionless norms, to use a term from Natural Law.
Our Lord is not a “mere man” and He gave us His Church. That you willfully remain blind is sad.
In my opinion, God hates divorce. Like you wrote, His clear intent is that couples marry for life. On the other hand, people are sinners, and we make spiritual mistakes, including divorce. If someone divorces and remarries, is that a sin? Christ said it was adultery, but adultery isn’t an unforgiveable sin. Clearly, repentance is called for in such circumstances. How does one show true repentance? By not repeating the sin.
I do disagree about so-called incompatible couples. That is a very poor excuse for divorce, as two God-loving, Christians should be able to make it work. There was a time when most marriages were arranged, and those folks usually made it work and were often happy in the long run. The problem is selfishness, aka sin.
It is a very serious tragedy in the modern church that our divorce rate is nearly indistinguishable from that of unbelievers.
“... but how many besides them will discover too late that theyve compromised and gone along to get along their way into reprobate hearts?”
And yet, there is always repentance and restoration for those who want it.
1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.”
“And I still haven’t picked it (the Bible) up and that is now on me.”
Please do pick it up and read it. Truth is in there.
Francis is the Anti-Pope.
——Our Lord is not a mere man and He gave us His Church——
I never said that....the mere man was in reference to a church leader...
