As it relates to religious liberty in the United States of America, here is the famous portion of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...
Many people extrapolate from the Establishment Clause a total prohibition of anything remotely associated with the Christian God from all branches of local, state, and federal government. Of course, the Christian God of the Holy Bible is the primary target of those who proudly tout the “Separation of Church and State.” Other religions seem to avoid the kind of scrutiny received by the Cross of Christ.

Mohammedanism should be banned. It is wrong about theology, philosophy, economics, science, history, psychology,and everything else. It is evil because it contradicts reality, and American ideals and identity, and is repulsive to reason and rationality. And before anyone starts any jabber about religious freedom ask yourself this: if I concocted a “religion” that venerated Adolph Hitler as a deity, demanded that its adherents set fire to any dwelling occupied by non-believers, and authorized the rape and murder of blond-haired girls, would that be protected under the First Amendment?
What about if my new religion denied the authority of civil law, implemented its own taxation scheme, and openly plotted the overthrow of the government? Would that be okay?
How about if numerous groups of disciples acted on those beliefs and spawned myriad acts of horrific violence?

To ban Islam, one has to clearly define “religion” and it’s limits. Islam is not like other “religions” as we understand it. Islam is a TOTAL SUPREMACIST belief SYSTEM with it’s own set of laws, and it’s political components contradict all non-Islamic political entities, Therefore, Islam should not and cannot be classified as a ‘religion’. Once “religion” is defined to exclude all political and legal elements, limiting our nation’s legal recognition to faith as it is practiced without politics or legal ramifications which could/do contradict the US Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and the Golden Rule - only then can Islam be banned.
This is the insoluble contradiction. Leftists like exposing "contradictions" so make sure this one is exposed. Muslims, particularly the political ones like CAIR will claim Sharia is "religion" and claim 1st Amendment protections. At the same time, any true Islamic preacher will declare Sharia supreme and above any national Constitution.
I believe this is how to frame the debate regarding a serious restriction of Muslim immigration.
Yes. Just like open Christianity is banned in Saudi Arabia, Islam should be banned in America. No mosques, no headbags, no special 5x/day prayer at work, nothing. We could just call it a reciprocal agreement.
The difference is-
ACTS and even some speech encouraging the acts *can* be banned. Merely concocting a new religion, no matter how silly or repulsive and writing about it can’t be.
You would be quite free to write the manifesto for such a religion, however acting on it or encouraging others to do so would and should be punishable.
FWIW, I know several Atheists. they, to a person, dislike Islam as much or more than Christianity or Judaism.
One would be quite free to say ‘This is what God told me’ and follow it with any sorts of heinous nonsense; saying ‘I think this is what you should do” opens one to legal culpability.
At least if I remember Constitutional Law from decades ago.
