Roman Catholic Archbishop of Philadelphia: I admire the integrity of Muslim women who wear hijab
Jihad Watch ^ | 25 Oct 16 | Robert Spencer

It’s a common and recurring tendency among conservative Catholics to be complacent regarding the jihad threat because of a desire to see Muslims as allies in a culture war against all-encroaching and authoritarian secularism. This idea is based on ignorance of or indifference to the fact that, with its polygamy, divorce at a word, sexual slavery of Infidel women, allowance for wife-beating, tolerance for early abortion, and more, Islamic sexual morality is hardly akin to Catholic sexual morality. There is also a tendency, which is also found all over the West outside the Catholic Church, to assume that various concepts, and acts designed to express them, mean the same thing in an Islamic context that they do in a non-Muslim context. That false assumption is what we see here from Archbishop Chaput with regard to modesty.

Perhaps the Bishop has heard of a Catholic term called “moral agency?”

If the decision to wear the sack over one’s head is not freely chosen by a Muslim woman, then its not a moral choice.

Does he also admire the hypocrisy of Catholics who vote for a abortion, homosexual marriage, and restrictions on religious freedom?

No, which is the whole point of the address!

Usually Chaput is better than many of the Bishops on the issues.

His statement here is ridiculous, however: Seeming to admire the integrity of women who wear the Hijab seriously fails to address the deeper issue going on in this “religion”. This deeper issue is that actual male dominance misogyny is being manifested. This is authentic misogyny compared to the supposed “women hating” that takes place according to the “feminists” in the west.

While in Philadelphia for several months while our daughter received a bone marrow transplant at the Children’s Hospital two years ago (our daughter is fully recovered thanks be to God), we had the opportunity to observe firsthand many of these Philadelphia women in the hijab, even at the hospital itself as well as on the streets. (They are everywhere)

These women were black, and angry with huge BLM type attitudes. It is almost certain that their husbands/ significant others “converted” in jail.

The misogyny showed up as follows: In 90+ degree very humid weather, the women were wearing layers of huge hot black robes and veils, children in tow. In the meantime the husbands/baby daddies/significant others trailed behind them - purposefully - it seemed as though they would not walk with them as a sign of the male superiority - in western sandals, shorts and t shirts, perfectly comfortable.

The discrepancy in clothing was striking and purposeful.
The archbishop does not get it.

Yeah. Clergy like him “admired” the iconoclasm of the Islamists and destroyed religious icons in the Byzantine Empire during the Iconoclast Heresy.

More Islamicizing from self deprecating Christians.

NO ONE should be allowed to wander the streets in a body bag with their faces covered up. They are a threat to security in these dangerous times.

Again, he was only using this example to highlight the lack of commitment among Christians to separate themselves from an increasing debased culture. He was not praising Islam per se. To try to make this out as so is ridiculous.

I'm not making that case. I'm making the case that comparing one religion that basically coerces the “faithful” into submission, in many countries either outright outlawing or heaviy restricting other religions, to one where free will is allowed is ridiculous.

We are talking past each other. Archbishop’s Chaput’s talk was not about comparing religions but about the need of faithful Christians to separate themselves from an increasingly debased society. His reference to Islamic practice was not to praise Islam nor to compare Islam and Christianity to each other. Given all the reservation about Islam, which Archbishop Chaput admits, it cannot be denied that Muslims have a public commitment to their religion that is woefully lacking in many Christians. This is all the he was trying to say. It was a minor point in a much longer and important address.

I’m sure his message was as you state, however he would do well to consider how he makes his case.

Most wear it out of FEAR. If they fail to do so among the most faithful of Muslims they are subject to punishments up to and including death.

Hwy, what the F### is it with the over and over and OVER and OVER and OVER bashing of Catholics lately.

With all due respect, speaking truthfully about something done by an individual of a particular faith is not "bashing" that faith. This individual earned his bashing.

Roman Catholic Archbishop of Philadelphia: “I admire the integrity” of Muslim women who wear hijab and burqa

Bergoglio apparently admires them too. This is what he had permitted to be displayed on the Basilica of St Peter on the Feast Day of the Our Lady's Immaculate Conception:
